Pulp Fiction picked up the most votes from round 1. The same as Monty Python: Life of Brian which was also in group 1 with Pulp. I'm not sure if this is because there was a vote surge for group 1 or because both films are so highly rated. Anyway, Pulp is one of the favourites for the title and has landed a fairly tough group here although it's surely the favourite. Will there be an upset in group 5 though?

Group 6 will be interesting. Judging from round 1, there are several die hard fans of quite a few of the films on show so the vote may be split.

Group 5

Pulp Fiction, Return of the King and Terminator just edging American Beauty in group 5.

The Godfather, The fellowship of the Ring and Star Wars(out of pure bias) in group 6.

Group five is a tough one, very close as it stands - I went for Pulp Fiction and American Beauty. Had a more difficult choice in group six, The Godfather and FOTR got my votes, and I'm not surprised to see The Godfather running away with it.

Would have been better if The Return of the King and The Fellowship of the Ring were swapped around. ROTK is better than FOTR but is in a far stronger group.

I don't like Lord of the Rings. The first one is alright, the second one is poor and the third one is dragged out like a bitch, but enjoyable mostly.

Tantrums are not allowed. :P

My theory is that if the film is good enough, it will go through against anyone. It is in a strong group but to be honest, I don't see why it can't go through if it has the backing.

Isn't always the case. A film can be artistically brilliant and regarded as one of the best of its time, yet the fact that... say, it's from the 1940s would make it far less watched among the current generation, who might rather vote for Ghostbusters on the basis that they actually have seen it.

FINAL RESULTS

Group 5

Pulp Fiction - 21
American Beauty - 17
------------------------------------------
Terminator - 13
Lord of the Rings: ROTK - 10
Last King of Scotland - 9

Surprised LOTRs didn't fare better here.

Group 6

The Godfather - 22
Lord of the Rings: FOTR - 17
------------------------------------------------
The Usual Suspects - 11
Inglourious Basterds - 10
Star Wars VI - 4
Halloween - 4

Comfortable for the top 2. Inglourious has a good first round but lost it's backing in the 2nd.
