Be curious to see how they get on next season. It appears to be coming the new thing for ex pros to come out of retirement and play for teams lower down the pyramid.

Shows how much respect Budweiser have for non-league that they're prepared to do this. It's a pity because I thought they did an excellent job of promoting the early rounds of the cup last season (though they lost their way by the time ITV and ESPN started having a say).

Imagine if a sponsor decided to sign a load of ageing superstars for an arbitrarily chosen League 2 side for a publicity stunt?

Budweiser were great last year. I went to see Ascot vs Wembley in an early preliminary match and they did a great job.

Sad to see they're treating the competition like this. Football is fucked.

What's the odds these players pull out after they find out where they have to travel to (not on fancy coach and posh hotel) and play at?

Well the FA Cup draw was announced today, & Wembley drew out Langford, a side local to me, at home. Going to head down to watch it as we don't have a game that day, & a friend from school plays centre half for Langford, seeing him mark Brian McBride will amuse me

Saturday 11th August is the Men's Olympic Football final at Wembley. I guess Wembley will play on Friday night. Ascot vs Wembley was Friday night last year when Budweiser covered that.

Wasn't aware of that. I'll probably still go anyway!

Fucking pathetic, this malarky.

I hope Langford have a team full of the typical southern-based Non-Leaguers; rangy black lads with pace and guts who rip the ex pros new arseholes.

I don't understand Venables in that attached link. He wants to benefit grassroots football but will kick all the young players out of the team for the FA Cup so they can play some retired players. Ridiculous.

This is an embarrasing circus to watch. Made even more appalling by the ESPN commentary team being overly critical of the amateur players

Went down to it & quite enjoyed the game in the end, the boy who fucked up for Wembley's 1st goal is a mate of mine, & so is the boy who set up Langford's 1st. He claims it was a pass but it was clearly a shot. To be fair the ex pro's were brilliant after the game, chatting and having pictures with everyone, just a sham I found out Brian McBride is a Chicago Bears fan

Parlour, Le Saux, McBride & Caniggia all did, Keown was an unused sub. Think they only play cup games, to be fair the the players though they were happy to chat & have pictures after

That felt like a celebrity XI game, very strange with all the cameras. Decent attendance though, 754. May make the journey to Vale Farm on Tuesday.

I went to watch my local side win 2-0 in the Cup. They beat a side from a higher division and it was brilliant.

Wembley can fuck off. Idiots.

Certainly was amusing to see someone related with Wembley FC having a pop at the Wealdstone chairman after he tweeted his delight over this joke coming to an end.
