Sondico were Vandanel so once bought out then it was a natural change all be it hope the quality improves now. Oddly we had a Sondico home kit but Vandanel away and third and if we wore the home shirt with white shorts we had Sondico shirts on but Vandanel shorts and socks!

Vandanel made some great shirts for us, I miss them. Although, we seem to be ditching Nike which is a god send.

This. The kits they 'made' for us in 07/08 were absolutely terrible, no design at all.

ISC was our best designer. The shirts were apparently (I say that because I didn't get one) very good quality with it being a Rugby based manafacturer.

Nike are hands down the worst kit manufacturer in the country.

...and they also insist on running your club shop and taking nearly all the profit via its ProSport Operation.

It's meant for clubs who just want to hand over the whole operation to them without any of the overheads (staff wages, stock purchase etc.). It makes sense for some clubs, and did so for us at the time, but outsourcing something like that is just short-termed thinking.

Plus with Nike/Adidas etc you get a template kit that about 10 other teams in the FL have just possibly in a different colour!

Plus Nike give out worse deals, ask for bigger cuts etc...

When we had them, they paid us a lump sum and in return they kept all the shirt revenue....A ludicrous arrangement obviously but it was signed off by Trembling/Munto so hardly a surprise. He said that was the norm with Nike/Lower league clubs.

Also, with Nike you only would ever get off the peg kits, nothing custom - Not even your pantone colours!

You look at Donnys away kit, and its the same design as Uniteds home from a few years ago

The one with the Chevron on the front?  I'm sure at least 20 teams have had that exact design but different colours of the past 5 years.  Very original from Nike.

The quality of the Nike stock we have is second to none. I don't have a shirt but they look smart but the training stuff and leisure stuff like polo shirts are of a high quality in design, colour and ability to wash.

Most shirts at this level are based on templates unless you end up with a real rare manufacturer.

rare as in anyone apart from Nike?

I know Fila let you customise and request things and they make half the shirts in this division.

As far as I was aware Fila weren't a massive manufacturer (in this country at least) and didn't really have templates to use. I wouldn't say they had half the division either.

Interested in the kit manufacturer debate, so for no reason here are this years manufacturers.

I have added Fila and Carbrini together as they are owned by the same company. (Fila 5, Carbrini 1).

Top Manufacturers:

Fila/Carbrini 6 - Bournemouth, Carlisle, Crewe, Notts County, Oldham, Tranmere.

Puma 6 - Brentford, Colchester, Coventry, Crawley, Preston, Stevenage.

Nike 4 - Doncaster, Hartlepool, Orient, Scunthorpe.

Vandanel 2 - MK Dons, Yeovil.

Surridge 1 - Bury.

Kappa 1 - Portsmouth.

Joma 1 - Shrewsbury.

Macron 1 - Sheff U.

Adidas 1 - Swindon.

Diadora 1 - Walsall.

Not a bad range, I prefer a bit of kit identity. Fila's haven't been bad this year, nice to wear too. Hopefully next year will be the same.

The most over the 4 divisions is:

Puma 17

Nike 15

Adidas 9

I hope you all feel enlightened now :)

When Carbrini did our kits I thought they were dire. I've been far happier with Fila. I didn't know they were the same company!

Nice work! Would never had thought Puma had the most kits over the four divisions.

In terms of originality I'd say Fila have been decent this season.  As a brand they probably have the most credibility out of the list of shirt manufacturers we've had over the past 20 years:

Fila

Carbrini

Vandanel

Xara

Patrick

Mizuno

Rover Sport

En-S

Looking back through our old kits we had an Adidas one in the early eighties.  Would love to see us get an Adidas originals shirt with old Trefoil logo on.  Surprised no ones already done it, especially a Premier League team.

Since as long as I can remember, we have always had "custom" Kits ... So its not a rare thing at all

MG Sportswear - Localish firm - Custom Kit

A-line Italian firm, Custom Kit

Prostar, Custom Kit

Joma - Custom Kit.

Moral of the story, dont sell out to a "big name" - Go with Smaller named brands, and get a kit unique to your team

Makes Carlisle the team with the longest shirt sponsorship in the football league if tranmere are changing.

Congratulations & Well Done Carlisle

:****: -

EDIT: That was supposed to be a lauging smiley and it is definitely not a swear word.

I will go with LOL as I can no longer trust smileys.

It's not the sponsor,

the kits are just shit.

It's mainly the sponsor.

Plus with Nike/Adidas etc you get a template kit that about 10 other teams in the FL have just possibly in a different colour!

The goalkeeper kits are the worst, how many clubs/national teams have that green nike keeper kit with the lighter green circle on the chest.

I'd hate that if it was Vale.

I quite like that 3rd kit but can't see when we'll ever need it.

Be interesting to see the historical take on our home/away kit.

I reckon the away top will be green. I have no idea why. Not sure if ive read that anywhere.

Oh, fair enough.

Not sure how we can link it to a former player unless it's just a proper retro shirt.

I quite liked our Diadora kits too, but I've thought our Puma ones are alright.

I actually like those Tranmere kits, as someone else said, the older feel to them is good.

Never been a big fan of adidas football kits for the simple reason that they're very template, always gonna be three stripes somewhere and more often than not,on the sleeves.
Although it's obviously a very credible manufacturer to have.

Fantastically.

I was very unsure when it first came out but it's become one of my favourite ever, probably due to the success we've had in it!!  Wasn't convinced by the collar in particular, but as the season has developed I've found it more and more iconic.  I hope we go back to blue for next season though, although merely swapping the current home and away kits would suit me fine, rather than bring back last seasons.

Why would you bring back last seasons? Surely that doesnt make financial sense for the club and bringing out a new home kit would be better suited?

Got to say I've been impressed with our kits from Vandanel and I'd have bought one this year had we gone sponsorless like it looked we would

But I'm not a huge fan of the sponsor logo (but the money is important to a club like ours) tempted by the away kit but I am just not going to spend £40 on a shirt.
