I'm relieved. Thought that was it this time! Maybe we should all try and take upon ourselves to try and drum up some new members...I refuse to believe there aren't a shit load of football fans who would love this place but just don't know about it.

Most people only seem to be interested in these "banter" pages on Facebook these days rather than a forum.

Wow. Some of the reactions from people are embarrassing,

Go outside. See the world. Talk to people. More to life than a forum.

Unless you’re from Mansfield or Grimsby. Then just wait for TFF to come back online, do not, I repeat, DO NOT go outside. Mental scars never fade.

I can't speak for others but I do go outside. I do see the world and I do talk to people so I'm with you on there being more to life than a forum that goes down more times than Boris does on Trump.

But you're missing the point.

The point is admin should post something on fb or twitter assuring us that things are being looked every time this sort of thing occurs. Preferably beforehand when possible so I wouldn't bother posting the prediction league fixtures when I know the forum will be down for a number of days.

One thing puzzles me though. If other forums are always online does it mean they rely on better servers? Just a thought.

Hmm maybe. I guess forums are old hat compared to the modern trend of going onto a teams Twitter page and goading their fans etc

In my view Exeweb is far superior to FB / twitter when it comes to Exeter City. Not sure if it's the same at other clubs mind. Much prefer forums me

I think it means that they have more than one admin member who has all the passwords and that they pay their server fees on time. I'm not buying the excuse that the hosts migrated to a new server without providing their clients with a confirmed date.

Love how "No further down time is expected".:lol: Expected by who? Because pretty much everyone that uses 1FF is definitely expecting more down time.

Facebook and social media are rubbish for following posts or meaningful discussion like a forum, must be an age thing, that people who use Facebook for anything other than telling your mates/family that you've been to the gym today so that it counts or tagging in memes, then you were born after 1995!

Other than forums there is only really Reddit that is a decent place but that depends on each individual sub Reddit and how well they are moderated.

There is two decent football forums around this one and other that shall not be named. This one has all the league 2 and below fans, the other has all the lge 1 and above fans on it. This one used to have them all but that goodwill has gone, it's only a matter of time if downtime continues and communication lacks before the lower leagues follow suit, ball is in admins court.

Reddit is great for football news around the world and videos/gifs/highlights...the comments are like the plague though. Quite often hundreds of really really unfunny people trying to be hilarious.

You would think given that this place is run for profit that the service provided would be much more professional. Nope!

From the brief look I had on that board, the site of the competitor (that isn't run for profit) appears to have barely any downtime and looks and runs much more smoothly. It also has an admin team who respond to their users with honest answers when they are asked questions.

Given that TB is generating a nice stream of revenue from his initial opportunism and coup d'etat, you'd think he'd invest more energy in cultivating this board. Maybe a recruitment drive or at least ensuring that downtime was kept to a minimum.

Okay, I'm going to get way more passionate now than this topic deserves, but I'd be lying if I said the dishonest answers/the complete lack of self-awareness about the woeful service he is providing didn't wind me up.

He needs to muster some damn spirit and take some pride in his board. If he isn't arsed but he still wants the money, then take up a different role. If it's a business (it is) invest something in expanding it and take the royalties. He could even pay somebody to do it.

Sorry TB but I rate you 3/10 for adminship.

Cards on the table, what the site needs is a new active moderating team & some T&C from myself to bring it up to 2020 standards, that's the only way we'll engage new audiences.

Sadly for a number of reasons the time I've been able to allocate to running this place has decreased significantly since we took over from TFF.

I know this will bring calls to "pass over the reigns" of the site to somebody else but, whilst it's an unpopular fact, there is a financial element to this place which I rely upon. It's just not as simple as taking the decision to step back and give someone else the controls.

Should people wish to brainstorm genuine ideas, or express interest in joining the team, they will be listened too.

Actively replacing all ad codes right now- so things will be all over the place for the next few hours. What you're seeing now isn't how it's going to keep displaying.

I'm currently only still on here for this section as it's still pretty busy. I don't post as much right now mind as we are utterly depressing to watch let alone post about. The other place L2 section just looks a mess so that's one thing this place has over it.

Lost too many good posters on here over the last 2 years or so. Shame

To generate more interest in this site the Admin could run a competition to win a games console maybe?

I’m getting pop ups when I log in along with two adverts at the top of the League 2 forum. I assume this isn’t the desired end position?

Before/whilst logging in, or after?

Making more changes today.

I’ve just visited again and was confronted with a full page advert for shoes/clothes which prevented me from seeing the forum at all then the first three items at the top of the page are adverts - “bring a smile to someone’s face”, footy accumulators and “looking for love”. See attached. I’ll stay on the Cambridge MB if that’s what I’m going to see when I come here.

Edit: I’m permanently logged in when I come here.

I don’t get any of that shit. I get the Bet365 ad every time I visit and then a whole list of websites which I haven’t a clue what that’s about.

I’ve lost the fashion add but still got the three adds appearing first before I can even see anything on the forum.
