Champions League qualification chasing Juventus will travel to face Venezia in a Serie A match day 38 clash at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo on May 25th.

At the time of writing, Venezia are 19th on the log with 26 points from 35 matches. Meanwhile, Juventus are placed 4th on the Serie A log with 64 points after 36 matches.

After just two seasons in the second division, Venezia secured their return to the top flight by winning the Serie B play-offs. The goal would be to stay up going into the season, but they have found it difficult. As things stand, they are staring at an immediate return to the second division.

The Winged Lions started the season with a loss, as Brescia sent them out of Coppa Italia. In the first four Serie A games of the season, they were winless (L3 D1). The side eventually grabbed their first win of the campaign against Genoa at home. Gianluca Busio and Joel Pohjanpalo scored in the second half to secure the first full points of the season.

The subsequent three games ended in defeats, followed by a draw against Monza and a win over Udinese. The Winged Lions lost five of their remaining 2024 Serie A games to remain 19th on the log. So far in 2025, Venezia have won just one league game, and are currently two points adrift of safety.

On the other hand, Juventus, who blew hot and cold all through the campaign, have found some stability in recent weeks to find themselves in a good position to qualify for Europe’s most prestigious club competition. The Turin side started the season on a good note with comfortable 3-0 wins over Como and Verona in their first two games of the campaign under new manager Thiago Motta. The 41-year-old, who played for Italy and Juve’s Serie A rivals Inter Milan as a midfielder, signed until 2027 after replacing Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked two days after he led the side to the Italian Cup.

In Europe, Stuttgart stunned them in Turin on match day three. In the next seven games, Juventus drew five times and won just two, including wins over Torino and Manchester City. Overall, Juve went the rest of 2024 unbeaten before losing to Milan in the Supercoppa semis in January.

Motta’s side drew three of the next four games, before current league leaders Napoli beat them in Naples – a first defeat in Serie A for the season. The month of February did not go well for Juventus as they were knocked out of the Champions League by PSV in the knockout stage, while Empoli also sent them out of Coppa Italia.

Motta’s incredible work at Bologna, where he led them to qualify for this season’s Champions League, got him a bigger job in Turin. However, Thiago Motta lasted just nine months at Juventus before the Italian giants sacked him in late March and swiftly appointed Igor Tudor. Motta’s departure came after heavy back-to-back defeats in Serie A, losing 4-0 at home to Atalanta before being beaten 3-0 at Fiorentina. At the time of writing, Juve have won three of their past seven games under Tudor, but they still stay in contention for the UCL ticket. A late goal in Rome denied them all three points in the match-day 36 clash with Lazio.

Venezia dropped into the bottom four following Empoli’s win over Parma in one of the early games of match day 36. And that has left the Winged Lions with a lot to do in their remaining three matches. Venezia have won just once in their past four games in the League. In addition, all four Serie A wins have come at home, and they can rely on that to get something from this game.

Juventus are in a tight race with a couple of others for a place in the UEFA Champions League for next season. A game at a side in the drop zone will be considered easy, and with their unbeaten record against the Winged Lions, they will be full of confidence going into the game.

Prediction

Venezia are chasing survival, while Juventus are aiming to play in the Champions League next season. It is an important match at both ends of the table even as the season comes to an end. At the time of writing, however, Venezia have won just once in 2025 in Serie A.

Juve have lost just once in their past six matches, and they have not lost to Venice in Serie A. In addition, they have an unbeaten record against the Winged Lions in Italy’s top flight. That should be enough to spur them to a win.

Meanwhile, it is important to get your Venezia tickets on time because it is their final Serie A home game of the season.
