Tottenham Hotspur are not considering sacking manager Ange Postecoglou despite the club\u2019s inconsistent performances this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spurs\u2019 5-0 victory at Southampton on Sunday left them 10th in the Premier League, five points adrift of fourth-placed Nottingham Forest after 16 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postecoglou\u2019s team had previously gone five games without a win across all competitions, sparking talk that he could be relieved of his duties if results did not improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports bettors latched onto the speculation by wagering heavily on the Australian to be the next Premier League manager to leave his position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numerous Australia soccer betting<\/u><\/a>\u00a0platforms reported an uptick in activity as punters took advantage of the generous odds available on Postecoglou\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the affable Aussie\u2019s position at Tottenham is not under threat, with the club reportedly convinced he is the right man to lead their project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalist David Ornstein has strong connections with reliable sources at Tottenham and he insists that Postecoglou is not in danger of being sacked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe pressure is external,\u201d Ornstein told NBC Sports Soccer<\/u><\/a>. \u201cAnge Postecoglou is squarely being backed by the Tottenham hierarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery bit of dialogue that I have had so far suggests that he is fully supported and that they are not thinking about changing Postecoglou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome sections of the fanbase and the wider public might not like to hear that, but it is the case, as things stand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postecoglou\u2019s stubborn refusal to compromise his attacking principles have been cited as a primary reason for his future at Tottenham being questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inconsistent performances have not helped matters, with Tottenham\u2019s results fluctuating between the sublime and the ridiculous this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, Spurs<\/a> produced a superb display to triumph 4-0 at Manchester City last month, but then failed to win any of their next five matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their defensive naivety was on show at home to Chelsea in early December, as they blew a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this, Ornstein is adamant that the club is happy with how things are progressing and will continue to back Postecoglou moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTottenham have taken a different strategy in recent years,\u201d Ornstein added. \u201cThey have not gone for experienced, big-name players in the transfer market. They\u2019ve gone for younger players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLook at the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Wilson Odobert and bringing Mikey Moore through. They have put their faith in Ange Postecoglou to develop a younger squad that they hope will pay dividends in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPatience is a word that nobody likes \u2013 it is in short supply. But Tottenham are confident and that is why they, and Daniel Levy<\/a> as the man at the top of the tree, are standing by Postecoglou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey have tried the alternative route with Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte – it hasn\u2019t worked and it\u2019s come down in pretty spectacular fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere has been a huge churn of players leaving the club and new players coming in \u2013 it\u2019s still relatively embryonic in terms of their settling in process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Tottenham are seemingly content with Postecoglou\u2019s work, it is clear that their squad desperately needs improving if they are to challenge for major silverware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defensive reinforcements are required, while central midfield<\/a> and attacking positions also need strengthening over the next couple of transfer windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ornstein says that the club are willing to back Postecoglou in the transfer market in a bid to boost their chances of forcing their way into contention for Champions League qualification and trophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
