Match after match, from Boxing Day to New Year\u2019s Day, it\u2019s basically a festive buffet of fixtures (although this year, because of UEFA commitments, there\u2019s only 1 Boxing day game this year!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But here\u2019s the thing no one talks about: for fans who smoke, Christmas footy season is one long reminder that you can\u2019t always nip out for a cigarette when you want to. In fact, sometimes it\u2019s absolutely impossible and you have to use an (admittedly less harmful) way to get your nicotine, like <a href=\"https:\/\/snusvikings.co.uk\/collections\/nicotine-pouches\"><span class=\"s1\">nicotine pouches<\/span><\/a>, patches or gum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">We came across a piece from Snus Vikings about the \u201cmoments over Christmas when you can\u2019t have a smoke,\u201d and the football one hit a bit <i>too<\/i> close to home. So naturally, we had to give it the football-fan treatment \u2014 with a few extra festive examples of our own.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><b>1. Boxing Day Football \u2014 The Ultimate No-Smoking Zone<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">The original article nailed it: Boxing Day football is iconic, cold, and\u2026 completely non-smoker-friendly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You\u2019re packed into the stand, scarf pulled up to your nose, breath fogging in the air like you\u2019re a steam train.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It took about 45 minutes to shuffle through the turnstiles and get to your seat.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s at least 30 mins until kickoff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Then another 45 minutes (plus time added on), half time, <i>another <\/i>45 minutes (plus time added on) and finally another 20 minutes or so shuffling with the other 50,000 people until you can get off the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefootballforum.net\/blogs\/iconic-demolished-football-stadiums-in-england\/\">stadium grounds<\/a> and have a cigarette.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hopefully, you aren\u2019t at an away match where the police have decided that you need to wait in the stands until the home fans have cleared off; that\u2019s probably another hour on top of that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And then you have time for a cigarette or two before you are on a 3-hour smoke-free train trip back home<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">By the time you\u2019ve actually worked out how long it\u2019ll be until you can have a smoke, you\u2019ve missed the one moment your striker remembered how to finish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">No thanks. Stay put, stay warm, stay in your seat.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><b>2. The Pub Before Kick-Off<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">If you\u2019re watching from the pub, this is where the real pain begins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You arrive full of hope, grab a pint, and then suddenly you realise:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\">You\u2019ve been trapped between two tables<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">You can\u2019t move without knocking over at least three gravy-filled Christmas dinners<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">The smokers&#8217; area is eight nautical miles away<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">And it\u2019s raining horizontally<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">By the time you get outside, the ref\u2019s blown the whistle and you\u2019ve missed the first goal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Cheers.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><b>3. The Christmas Market Detour<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Some fans do the \u201cwholesome Christmas day out\u201d thing before heading to the pub for the match on TV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sounds lovely until you realise Christmas markets are basically:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\">Fifteen thousand people moving slower than VAR<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">Stall smoke blowing directly into your eyes<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">Zero personal space<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">A cup of mulled wine you need both hands to carry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\">No chance of lighting up, even if you tried.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><b>6. Airports &amp; Away Days<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Some away fans travel over Christmas \u2014 brave souls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">If you catch a flight, prepare for pain.<br \/>\nAccording to Snus Vikings (and confirmed by everyone&#8217;s lived experience), airports past security are a wasteland of \u201cno smoking signs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Once you\u2019re through that scanner, you\u2019ll be nicotine-free until you land.<br \/>\nAnd then you\u2019re straight onto a bus with broken heating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Festive, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><b>7.
