Cardiff City have built a reputation in past years as a team playing positive attacking football, while being strong at the back, meaning they often got the three points they were looking for. However under Slade, City seem to have gone into reverse, not scoring many goals and often conceding more than two goals a game.

The poor defensive form started under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has always been known as an all out attacking player, but he didn't know how to manage his defense. Solskjaer's men conceded 42 goals in only 18 games in the Premiership, an average of over two goals a game and only keeping two clean sheets on the way. His defense did improve slightly in the Championship, conceding nine goals in seven games, but only scoring eight goals in the same space of time. Solskjaer was then sacked and eventually replaced with Russell Slade.

The new gaffer seemed to have sparked the catalyst for a push up the table, winning three of his first four games, and scored eight goals in that time, but hadn't improved much at the back, with no clean sheets in that time. However from the start of 2015, City have found goals really hard to find, only seeming to score from set pieces. Aron Gunnarson and Peter Whittingham have been racking up the assists recently, with long throw-ins and free kicks/corners, playing a huge part in City's recent goals.

It's not the fact that Cardiff only score set-pieces that has got City fans calling for Slade's head, instead it's because of the negative football being played at the club and the fire sale of players. City seemed to have traveled back 30 years in recent weeks, playing a standard 4-4-2, and playing the long ball whenever possible. Now this tactic is fine to use, but it has to be used right. Kenwyne Jones is an out and out target man, and won't lose many balls in the air. But City need a quick player that is able to chase these balls down.

Against Reading, City played Revell up front with Jones, and he didn't do much wrong but doesn't have the pace to chase the balls down. And Slade did nothing to change things, and Reading ended up equalizing to make the score 1-1. Instead of bringing on a man to compliment what Jones does, Slade subs Revell for Tom Adeyemi (Defensive Midfielder). City then lost the game 2-1 and put more pressure on Slade to change things around.

So City have gone from scoring goals but conceding more, to not scoring but conceding just as many. And with Vincent Tan travelling in to Cardiff on Saturday to watch the Bluebirds take on Derby, Slade will need a good result, or could be called into the boardroom late that night for an unwanted meeting.

Not sure why anyone would want to work under Vincent Tan.

Think you lot should hire Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker to bump him off.

Under Dave Jones, yes. Malky Mackay? Not so sure about that.

I'm not sure Slade is the problem here. Stuff needs to settle down behind the scenes before you can judge Slade properly. He'll probably get enough points for the club to stay up this season. Take another look in the summer.

Will be hard to recruit a new manager though as:
a) The football club is toxic because of who owns it.
and more importantly
b) The money has run out. No new money for players.

If he is sacked who are you going to bring in? Can't see many people queuing up to work with Tan.

That's the problem, Tan has given the club such a bad reputation that nobody who's worth their salt is going to want to come in. If Slade's the best we can get then God help us!

Slade starts slowly, as most conservative managers do. I can't believe you're calling for his head after only a few months. If it all goes tits up, you deserve everything you get.

This has to be viewed in context. Before the Premier League relegation season the club spent 5/6 years being in contention for a playoff place in the Championship winning more games than they lost.

Sense of expectation verging on entitlement is strong in Cardiff. Their friends down the M4 being in the top flight doesn't help their fragile egos either.

Should Swansea and Cardiff be playing in England anyway?
I think the world is crying out for a Welsh Super League.....Cymraeg uwch gynghrair. If they all play in red and every player wears the number 88 I can see it being fucking huge in Malaysia. Tan would surely triple his investment in the Redbirds.

Discuss.

I love it that Millers' ability to spot bell-end managers is increasing by the day.

He is a bellend though. Shit manager too. Did well at Orient but he's nowhere near cut out for the Championship. Awful appointment from the beginning.

He is a very nice guy, but he doesn't do himself any favours sometimes, he can be very, very stubborn and is one of those people who can't admit when they get it wrong. I'm not suprised he walked out of that press conference in a huff, at Grimsby, Yeovil and ourselves he had a bit of time and smaller budgets. Cardiff are at a totally different end to us.

He doesn't like people digging hard at him and asking strong questions - I found this out myself at a few fans forums we had. I'm someone who doesn't pussyfoot around, I rubbed off badly on him as I'm a bit of a know it all when it comes to football and I don't like wiping peoples arses for them, I asked him an awkward question and he didn't like it. However, that aside he is a nice guy, I don't have a problem with him.

He is being asked to cut Cardiffs wage bill, which I think we've all got to bear in mind here.

However, as I have said before, his teams can be slow and a bit dull to watch, he likes to grind results out more than anything. But he managed to get us scoring goals and made use of the good players for League One we had, although he needs time to do it.

I can't see him lasting, he is a manager who needs 2 years at most to build a team. He is a good League One/Two manager, he is out of his depth at Cardiff.

The club is sinking fast enough so hell find his depth soon enough. If that isn't too much of a mixed metaphor.
