Confirmed as Coventry manager.

Big name pull for us, but has stepped into one of the most challenging jobs in football. Hopefully SISU back him with the resources.

He also hasn't had an alcoholic drink since he was 19...
No wonder he sounds such a dour, boring bloke.

Fantastic appointment though, should have you playing the right way but a big task to keep you up first.

What an appointment for this level. No idea how SISU have managed to pull this one off.

On paper a very good appointment.

Shame. I wanted a trip to the Ricoh next season...

Disappointing news for the rest of us down there I think.

This isn't a slight, personally think it's a brilliant appointment from Coventry but I have to wonder why he's allowing himself to slum it in the 3rd tier with a club in seeming turmoil. Is he that desperate for work.

I'll be honest, at the level you're at Gary Megson would have been my choice, not great to watch but effective.

Am I the only one not totally convinced by this as an appointment?

Of his four jobs, the last two at Celtic and Middlesbrough both have to go down as massive disappointments. The only place where he's been an unquestioned success is at Hibs - his West Brom side definitely played nice football but their results weren't amazing. His only experience in a relegation battle ended in relegation.

Obviously with his experience at higher levels it's a bit of a coup, but I think his reputation is slightly better than his record warrants.

However he isn't Steven Pressley, therefore this is a glorious appointment.

I agree to an extent, obviously his name is a bit of a coup at this level but he wouldn't have been my first choice. I know a lot of Middlesbrough fans regard his reign as decent as he was tasked with cleaning up the mess Strachan left, took them over in 22nd (steered them away from a relegation battle) with a massive wage bill on rubbish players and championship is a very difficult league to get out of so I wouldn't say it was a massive disappointment in the whole.

This division is hardly full of tactical geniuses, managers that have dropped down to this level have had success after being average at championship clubs. I'm thinking Jones, Grayson, Cotterill, Megson so I think he should be good enough at this level.

Happy with this. Not concerned about the length at all.

Our fans are just doing what they always do and are finding something to be negative/moan about. I imagine that if he keeps us up (he will) then he'll sign an extension.

Whilst it is a fantastic appointment on paper, after listening to Mowbray on the FLS and now on SSN, his comments wouldn't fill me with a lot of confidence as a Cov fan. Doesn't seem that confident himself

Hope it gets ties up early next week, the longer it goes on the more chance he will be offered a contract by someone else. Sheffield Utd could lose patience with Clough if they lose to Chesterfield and I could see a few championship clubs eyeing him up, Leeds and Fulham are two I could see looking for new managers in the near future.

No, he doesn't. He also thinks Mowbray would go to leeds where he would have 0 control after having extended talks with us to get some control.

There was me hoping he was Mystic Meg and could see through to the PO final :(
