Does your club have one?

Grinds my gears whenever i look at stagsnet, if we win they'll hail Adam Murray as the greatest manager ever followed by if we win all of our games we will be in the play offs... but if we lose it goes in to meltdown with comments such as told you the cheap option wouldn't work, Murray is clueless, JRs fault, the stupid comments on there are endless.

Although I think Martin Riley is a twat he got one thing right in that most of the people on stagsnet are absolute clowns.

Our's isn't bipolar, it's just mostly negative. I'm sure this is the case with most of the bottom 8 or so teams though. Probably 3 or 4 teams at the moment think they're dead certs for relegation, and that excludes Hartlepool who I still think are going down. Generally if our board is going into meltdown the comments will be directed at the 'clueless owners who've overseen a 5 year downfall', followed by attempted protests/petitions under the title 'sack the board','bored of the board' or something like that. Having said that, our board can't be said to be bipolar because, even when we win, according to them we're still going down and our club will still be nonexistent in 3 years or so.

Our main one, the Poolie Bunker, is both read and absolutely detested by the club in equal measure.

We've had club officials coming on and threatening to sue people. The club make a rod for their own back though; they never say what's going on which fuels rumours and there's a few posters on there who are mates with players (or could even be players themselves) and club staff who've called stuff right in the past which the club really don't like. Other things like players calling out posters on twitter for posting libellous or negative stuff.

It's usually a really fickle message board but this season it's just been uniformly vitriolic until the last few weeks.

I'd say ours in the last few months has been far more concerned with Laffy's takeover, Who owns what percentage of the club and the Trust vote than anything else, events on the pitch taking a back seat.

God yes. There's a small contingent (around 25%) who do try to remain realistic and understand that a season doesn't get decided over the next two games, but the overwhelming majority are either celebrating impending promotion after two straight wins or suggesting we'll be lucky to finish 10th after defeats.

Then there's the 10% or so that say we're shit regardless of whether we're 1st or 24th. Always.

Our forum is at least 50% complete idiots who have no idea about football. They tend to struggle with the basics of the English language, let alone the basics of the beautiful games.

Around 20% have a decent idea about football and generally speak sense.

25% are occasionally known to speak sense, but are reactionary and bipolar, despite at least understanding the game to some small degree. These are the supporters who call for an untested player from the youth team to be thrown into a big game (cause they'd have more guts etc), or frequently begin sentences with ''I wasn't there today, but...'', or still find it funny when someone suggests they be appointed managed because of a Football Manager season...:fing:

These tend to be the people who think ex-Managers should always be the next manager, or who just name all of our ex-Players when there's a signing due. You know the types.

The other 5% is Ryan Bird, his friends and his family insisting that he's not an utterly useless player, and that he's never had a chance with us.

Ours is way more active if we lose, but there's always more to discuss if you're doing badly, it's just the way it is. What sort of discussion is, "gosh that was a thumping win wasn't it?"

"Yes it was"
"can't whine much when you win, can you?"
"Nope. Bastards, don't know why I bother, they're killing this forum"

As Mr Glassfull said, Into The Blue is a good forum.

I think on any board you always get Eeyore the Donkey who'll moan that when the sun is out it's too hot and you get those who follow those who are quite accomplished at local football, FIFA manager and writing critical comments, but completely clueless at the business workings that clubs have to deal with.

I used to think that Pools fans were a unique brand of moaning fucks, but having had a look around we're not unique at all. Message boards are an outlet for what used to be known as 'the nutter on the street.'

Difference is that now you read him instead of just crossing the road.

Halifax Town's theshaymen.net has become more unhinged over time.

Our manager Neil Aspin joined in April 2009, when we'd finished mid-table in the NPL Division 1 North. I remember it being a bit rational back then, I guess? Few pages if we won, few more if we lost, standard, fairly calm stuff.

In 2012/13, our second season in the Conference North, we'd only played half our games by the start of March due to the weather. We won more away than at home and many teams would use gamesmanship so they wouldn't lose to us, and it was a frustrating time. Two or three people were confident Aspin had taken us as far as he personally could and should leave the club. Then we completed 12 games in April and won the playoffs straight after, joining the Conference. All in the past, surely?

Nah. We quickly became a top half Conference team and a few more "fans" turned up who claimed this season was our only chance to grab promotion for a long time. Miraculously we got into the playoffs as a part-time team but lost out to Cambridge United.

Now this season is apparently our only chance to grab promotion for a long time, we're not looking good for the playoffs and therefore Aspin must go. And there are idiots that think we're bloody rubbish lose, win or draw.

Win and it's several pages now, lose and it'll be at least 15. And we'll go from how bad the players and manager are to how poor the crowds will be to how poor the board is to how apathetic the town is and everything in between.

We also have an exiled fan in Malta who calls for the manager's head every week and runs a personal crusade against the liberal elite, a native Norwegian who rates our players' performances out of 100 for every match from his house in Stavanger who everyone duly marmalises, two super-fans who lay onto each other pretty much every day, a few members of the supporters' football team who abuse anyone with different opinions to them, and a handful of posters who turn up sporadically almost exclusively to pick on one single regular poster they hate.

Yeah ours is in the "mostly miserable" camp.

Stagsnet can be quite bad, I've been on there for so long now though you generally know who's threads/posts to avoid after a defeat. However you know it's bad when after yesterday you read it and agree with alot of what's said. For what it's worth IMO anyway the best poster on there is a lad called DoomMerchant

Yes Mr Pliny. I'm in the 'rose tinted brigade' apparently and although I was member number 26 on the Bunker (we got booted out of another forum for homophobic comments involving a picture of a box of Brains faggots) now I'm a pariah.

There's three vitriolic posters on there who never met me and know I live in China. They know they'll never have to front me up. Fucking cowards.

I just love my team. It's great on here, there's some piss taking but no vitriol. I'm glad one of the lads posted a link on ITB.

Pleased to say although we don't have large numbers our forum is usually reasonably constructive, respective and civilised even after a defeat. Obviously we have been pretty buoyant this season. I must admit though our old forum closed for petty bickering and personal abuse.

Though not as good as ITB! Actually on here its nice to read others have the same concerns as us; the thing that annoys me on ALL message boards is people banging on about formations and tactics , it's not like any of us really have a clue, if we did we wouldn't be getting up at stupid 'o' clock to take instructions of people we really don't like .

We have a guy on ours who most people think is either someone close to Director of Football and co-owner Steve Pattinson, or even Pattinson himself. Pattinson is almost universally hated by the fans after telling one fan who complained to him to not bother coming back and then going on a tirade on Twitter. He owns a stake in the club, yet unlike the other two owners (even Nixon who is hardly popular) seems concerned only in protecting his investment and has never put his hand in his pocket and never appears to do any actual work in his role as DOF.

This one forum member is totally unique among members in defending Pattinson every time he is criticised, as well as making numerous requests for prospective new owner/consortium head Andrew 'laffy' Lapping to divulge ever more detailed and commercially sensitive information on the forum.

"Bang on! Murray will take us down totally out of his depth and should never have been given the job. I would releive him of his role and get some one in to steer us to safety and sort this mess out! JR you really messed up giving the lad this job , I also fear for Murrays health as its all getting a bit to much for him!"

I give to you, the most OTT comment of the year.

A lot of our fans on The Hotel End have unrealistic expectations. We lost Marc Richards to an injury in late February, and Wilder gets it in the neck because he hasn't signed a goal scoring target man striker in the March loan window! Ours is mostly redevelopment though, the chairman is a liar and a thief apparently! Most sane fans steer clear these days.

Our forum closed down after it got petty and abusive towards certain individuals. We now use our Facebook page as the main forum which is fine, but I could apply most of the comments on this thread to us. There's the section who are balanced & fair, then there's the ones who are completely kneejerk and appear to have no reasoning capabilities at all, the "I've been supporting the club 50 years and Current Player X isn't a patch on 1960s Player X" brigade and the 14 year olds on their school laptop winding everyone else up by asking who Adam Lockwood was.

This season it's been rather fractious shall we say. Most of us have tried to keep some perspective but it's pretty negative all round.

There are a few on there that don't make it good viewing, that will try and reduce each thread to a farce.

As the other said, there is someone called Norman who is just brilliant, so daft and odd, it's funny - each time we lose it's the manager needs to go - we'd have gone through about 50 managers now if that poster had their way!.

In general though I think it is alright - I think it is one of the better fanboards in league 2 for all it's faults so that is something

Whilst some of the views expressed on our forum are questionable to say the least, i'd have to say the forum itself is one of the cleaner looking ones i've seen from the League 2 ones. Pretty good setup overall compared to some of the others which look like they were made in a few hours on Adobe Dreamweaver.

There's a few who have that standard response ' if you don't agree with me, you must be mentally ill, sexually repressed, ignorant, perverted, deserve to be murdered, or should be incarcerated.

For fuck's sake, it's football. We all love it but why are they being so extremist??

Well because they can. Like i said, they'd never say it in the pub 'cos you'd punch them.

Our main one, The Cowsheds, is mostly manic depressive, and a fair few threads just decend into pointless dickwaving. I occasionly frequent it for info, but I'd rather post on here in all honesty. Can't be doing with reading 3 threads on Iain Hume and another 3 on why Adams should go, which all say the same thing.
