Bournemouth 0-2 down within 20, didn't expect that.

Didn't take them long to turn it around.

Well for the second fixture against Birmingham this season, I can say that was one of the more bizarre games of football you could see.

First half, at least for 35 minutes, Birmingham executed a really effective game plan. Happy to give us the ball on half way and then close us down with 9 defenders around 40 yards out.

That, combined with Boruc in goal and Cook at centre back having a collective brain fart, meant Birmingham shell shocked Dean Court. Not only did they score twice, Donaldson missed an open goal.

Thankfully Birmingham always looked shaky at the back when we did manage to get through that initial blue wall. Two sloppy, soft goals later and somehow we go in at half time level. Absolutely no right to do so. Ironically the atrocious Cook with the first and Wilson the other.

Second half we looked so much more settled, perhaps relief at being level. And immediately Wilson was in behind and cut inside the defender for a penalty. The quiet Kernorgant with his first worthwhile contribution puts us in front.

And then we sort it out and look unstoppable again. Could have been 5 6 or 7. Several good chances including Elphick off the bar, before Daniels shoots from range and the ball fortuitously drops into the net.

Wilson should have added to his tally, a run that drew a last man foul and red card which he might have taken into score, and another run and shot straight at the keeper.

Then Jones came on and in 5 minutes setup Arter to smash the post from 30 yards from his knockdown, and then Jones saw the keeper make two super saves from his headers. The bloke causes chaos with the deliveries we put in.

On another day Birmingham continue to execute their excellent and organised game plan, go 3-0 up with that open goal, and we run out of ideas. Today, with a mixture of poor Brum defending and some luck frankly, got ourselves level and settled.

Need a lie down in a dark room.

A ridiculous afternoon, first half was AFC Bournemouth circa 2008, just a shambolic mess with players running into each other. Boruc, Elphick, Cook & Daniels the worst culprits.

At 2-0 it should have been 3, Donaldson missing an open goal looks even more crucial now as we somehow, and undeservedly, found ourselves level at halftime.

An almost faultless second half performance against a deflated Birmingham side followed, it could have been 6 or 7 but a combination of post, bar, Randolph and scrambling defenders kept it down, took Daniels smashing a volley into the ground to beat Randolph at the third attempt.

A huge win when you consider the way it came about, 5 more to go but defend like we have against both Ipswich & Birmingham and we won't be going anywhere.

Coming from 2 down when the pressure is on in a promotion battle where defeats for our rivals are very much few and far between - it shows massive bottle from the side.

Hopefully forget the opening uselessness and take the positives forward into these two local away games.

15 penalties with 2 of them missed so far this season. Palace set the bar the other year with 18 penalties I believe! They had Zaha, we have Wilson... Defences keep trying to tackle our fast players, perhaps they should just let them straight through and save all the fuss!
