I think Barrow will go up. I don't think it would be unfair to promote Wealdstone, but the KL/York situation is a mess.
agreed - Barrow and Wealdstone would not be without controversy - but would be a far easier solution than York/Kings Lynn - unless you sacrifice one of your 2 teams to be the 3rd relegated one with Fylde and Chorley and allow the top 2 up from both NLN and NLS

I struggle with the idea of Liverpool being given the PL title unless the games are actually played, Barrow and Wealdstone are nowhere near clear enough for that to be a realistic option IMO.

Personally I think they should decide promotion/relegation on a points per game basis.

Also EFL are still down one member down.

This could get messy. But it may safeguard the future of many clubs down here.....I think, I don't know......................
Elect us back into the Football League, stick York into the National League, South Shields into National League North, Workington into the Northern Premier League and Northwich into the Northern Premier League North West with Bury's new club entering the North West Counties league. Easy.

No need to relegate anyone.

Imagine relegating Ebbsfleet. They were making a run for the playoffs.

Send Barrow up to make up 24 in L2. Promote Wealdstone.

Consult with FL what they plan to do with Stevenage (they'll decide to save them). If not, Harrogate get promoted.

Harsh on Kings Lynn and York but neither can say they were definitley going to win the league.

The next 12 months could see a real re-shuffle of the pyramid. Clubs could go under and also there is legitmate talk of regionalised football from L1 downwards.

You have to go away from the main tourism sites to get better food in Venice. Like when one visits Hartlepool.
There are tourist areas in Hartlepool? Is there perhaps a museum where one may view the scaffold they hung the monkey on? Or a mock up of the shipwreck in the bay? God knows there's nothing else I could think of to go to Hartlepool for outside of the football season. :ds:

Piss off, we were barely out of a play off spot all season. We've earned a place in the final shakedown, whatever system they come up with. :bdick:

You can't do Play-Offs.

When we're back able to play again it will be time to start a new season and every team will be desperate and dependant on getting back playing football again. You can't start doing Play-Offs for a few weeks whilst everybody is sitting on their hands. If we're ending the season (I'd have carried it on personally) it should be so we can hit the ground running for 20/21.

Interesting if the FL relegate Stevenage which would promote Harrogate I believe. Would they want to rip up that plastic pitch in this current economic climate though? Could open another can of worms this...

When football is given the nod to resume again (probably post September) clubs are going to absolutely desperate to play again. The Football League isn't going to wait that long to leave a space open either. We'll need to hit the ground running. After 6 months of inactivity, we're not going to wait another 2 weeks to watch Halifax playing Harrogate or Notts County playing Boreham Wood.

If we're ending the season, we're ending the season and the outcomes need to be made now so clubs know exaclty who's where next season.

Could they have some sort of play-off games?

If and when football gets going again...

Agreed, it’s all going to look very different. Which is why I can’t work out why everyone from the EFL downwards hasn’t just agreed to freeze it in time, leave it up to clubs to do what they want with their players’ contracts, and work out what to do when we know some more.
The problem is the mix of contracts. Some will end in May and others, like County, will run through to June.

If you take into account a couple of weeks to train ahead of a season re-start, plus the time needed to finish the season, then that's already going to go past the May cut off for some contracts and that's another financial hole to fill bearing in mind they're likely to be played behind closed doors.

In that respect, the decision they've made today, from a timing point of view and for this division is about right and that's why the EFL probably won't make a decision for another three or four weeks (also slightly different clauses in EFL contracts around additional pay in July for out of contract players yet to sign for another club).

Getting relegated is all they ever do. They'll be back again soon enough.

This is the Conference though, they usually start the playoffs about 27 minutes after the final game. The 6 team playoffs are usually all sorted and someone is already on their victory parade after winning at Wembley about 48 hours after the final kick of the normal season.

I would've as well, or perhaps have a cumulative points system just for next year like they do or did in Argentina. You can't really legitimately promote or relegate anyone (even if it is Ebbsfleet, Fylde or Harrogate) using PPG as there are so many variables left and it isn't a reliable way to predict a season. But the system as it is with the contracts means it's a different scenario down here compared to the EFL.

Having said all that, I think there'll be a number of clubs going bust (have a hunch we're one in real trouble) so who knows what'll happen.

We've let 90% of the non playing workforce go, there's Raj, Maguire and one groundsman AFAIK, all office/merch staff gone, media man (obv) and no club secretary as well as some fitness people/coaches have gone, cancelling the season will be a relief to the chairman, all remaining staff are furloughed up until their contracts expire in June in which I imagine they'll all be released, other than the 7 still contracted for next season, dunno the situation with Challinor, gotta imagine he's also tied down for next season, whenever that is.

The Football League will cancel their season.

We'll be given a date to resume football and everybody will want and need to start up again ASAP. We'll need to know who's in what division for fixures, administration etc. The Conference maybe fucked up but the Football League aren't going to wait to see who wins a National League play off system to get football back underway. Told we can all play in August, they're not waiting around for the National League Play Offs. They'll want to get going and it will give no time for any Play Off Completion.

All this talk of starting a new season in August, but with it very likely that football will have to be played behind close doors, how the heck are most teams planning to field a team with no income coming in for months upon months?? Unless you are heavily bankrolled no one can be playing in front of empty stadiums for large periods of time.

Just at Maidstone we rely majorly on match day income, season ticket sales, renting out our pitch and the bar for events. Without any of them we are pretty much buggered and I'm not sure how we will even be able to field a team next season.

I can imagine a fair few others being in a similar situation as well....

Which way do you think Notts County will vote if the options now are: null and void; one club promoted on PPG and no relegation; or promotion/relegation based on PPG?

Great.
We've ended this season but not in concert with the Football League. There's no resolution on promotions or relegations and it'll be like herding cats to get a consensus.
Without the FL deciding if they want one or two clubs from here we can't decide Conf North / South promotion and relegation.
They've jumped the gun. They don't seem to even have a vote for A,B or C option up their sleeves.
This should be in the tin pot thread.

I think there must be an indication as to what the options are, otherwise I really don't know why we would vote to end the season now if there is a possibility of null and void. Unless we have faith in other clubs to vote for us to be promoted...

This league is tinpot, and EFL is hardly any better - I'm half expecting the EFL to put their spare place up for auction to the highest bidder.

Personally, I'd always feel conflicted about us being given promotion without 'earning' it - but I also can't see why we wouldn't be the club to fill that space. The only other spanner in the works is if/when the EFL cancels its season, and the gap is in League 1...

It seems that Auchinleck Talbot have 'won' their league on PPG, having been 12 points behing with 9 matches left!! That should ruffle a few feathers.
