Nothing else is happening and clearly teams will be starting to be thinking about this, especially with contracts officially expiring in about 6 weeks. Of course, financial constraints are going to be a big factor.

I predict this basing that we will be a League One club next year, but I don't think there would be a great deal of difference anyway. The only advantage to be in L1 is that I think we'd have a vastly superior financial advantage to most as we didn't spend millions this season.

Under Contract
Martin Crainie
Dan Potts
Ryan Tunnicliffe
Sonny Bradley
Matty Pearson
Andrew Shinnie
Simon Sluga (open to offers - Besiktas were sniffing recently)
Harry Cornick
Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu
James Collins
George Moncur (L1 only, transfer list in Champ)
Peter Kioso
Eunan O'Kane
James Shea

Offer New Contract
Luke Berry (L1 only)
Danny Hylton (L1 only)
Glen Rea
Kazenga LuaLua (L1 only on reduced wages)

Transfer List
Brendan Galloway (if fit / mutually terminate)

Development Pros
Jake Peck
Tiernan Parker
Corey Panter
Josh Neufville

Released
Marek Stech
Callum McManaman
Elliott Lee
Jacob Butterfield (if on a 1-year deal)
Donveron Daniels
Frankie Musonda
Harry Isted
Jake Jervis
Lloyd Jones

Loans End
Cameron Carter-Vickers (attempt to re-sign in the Championship, unaffordable in L1).
Luke Bolton (not to be re-signed)
Izzy Brown (attempt to re-sign in the Championship but unlikely, totally unaffordable in L1).
James Bree (not to be re-signed)

Not sure why but I thought we had a few more out of contract but that seems a reasonably solid base to be starting league 1 next season to me.

I’m hopeful a few like Tunnicliffe would be decent at a level below, he’s spent the majority of this season being pretty poor but early season he showed some signs of being a decent midfield player. He couldn’t cope with Championship level pressing at all but as we saw last season that’s not really as big a factor in League 1 if we kept them all.

Someone lower down might want to take a punt on Collins, Pelly or perhaps more likely Cornick.

Could see Rea going elsewhere as a cheap option for a bottom end Championship side, and id think Berry May want to move on to somewhere where he’d get some more regular game time but that is pretty dependent on who becomes manager. Hylton, I’m not sure its worth another year, he hasn’t been what he was got a good 2 seasons now, it would be sad to see him go but it’s time I think. He will do a job for a decent league 2 side I think.

This is all of course if we can afford any of them including the ones under contract. Think our finances are going to take a huge hit along with everyone else.

I don't think anyone would have the cash flow to be able to put bids in for the likes of Collins, Pelly or Cornick. I wouldn't let any of them go for less than £1m and I don't see any clubs bidding that. In the case of Collins, he's 30 this year - this could be his last chance.

I'd like to think that keeping these players off furlough would instill some loyalty too.

As for finances, luckily we have payments for Justin and Stacey - probably another £2-3m.

Yeah I guess but in the same way that clubs won’t have cash flow, we won’t either or at least dramatically under what we would have. So if someone comes in with money for a player we aren’t going to be in a position to turn it down even if it’s for less than we thought we would get even just a few months ago. And at championship level there’s going to be owners who don’t give a toss and will still want to chuck money around. It will be a buyers market.

High I’d say. Bree has been playing right back and is on loan from Villa so will be going back - and we wouldn’t want him back in any case. Cranie is there as well but he doesn’t have the legs to be a modern fullback any longer, especially with the shape we play. It’s a bit weird he didn’t even make the bench but Jones had a thing about players with “championship experience”.

A lot will depend on who the new manager will be though.

GS pretty much backing up the above in an interview today:

“Anything that moves at the moment is up for sale, it literally is a case of what squad we’ve got next season, lets understand, everything is an asset, everything’s got a price, everything’s available and this is all about having cash in the bank today."

Think Paul Gallagher will get an extra year out of sentiment, i'd move him on for younger legs personally.

I doubt Tom Clarke will be retained either, the pair of them border modern day legend status but time moves on.

I think that shit reserve keeper we have, Michael Crowe is out of contract, maybe Matt Hudson too who has been around for years and never got a sniff while out on loan.

Out on loan, I think we'll finally rid ourselves of Kevin O'Connor, while Connor Simpson is probably worth an extension purely because of his age.

Think Louis Moult has a year left, I like him but he's injury prone as fuck.

Declan Rudd & Billy Bodin signed extensions unfortunately.

Huntington is under contract but he deserves to be playing, think he might look for a move which is a shame. Any bottom half team in this league would be lucky to have him and he's good back up for anyone in this division.

Think that's it.

Think that would leave us with:

Rudd, Ripley
Fisher, Rafferty, Bauer, Davies, Storey, Earl, Hughes
Pearson, Johnson, Browne, Bayliss, Ledson
Barkhuizen, Sinclair, Harrop, Potts, Bodin
Maguire, Stockley, Nugent, Moult

Very good base but worrying times with key players entering their final year, this was the year we had to make the play-offs imo, before an inevitable rebuild.
