Yeah this was *just* a winding up petition. Fee of £72k apparently. No surprise it was adjourned given the COVID situation.

The macclesfield owner should be ashamed. We are back in court tomorrow. The article below goes into more detail about what went on last season. Dawson sounds like hes had a tough time.

https://www.thefootygang.co.uk/post/adam-dawson-opens-up-on-his-silkmen-struggles
Dawson always seemed to run us ragged and score for whatever teams he played for against us. Used to wish he'd come to us ~~~ and he did, but he was pretty awful for us as he'd probably admit. As a retired Psychy nurse my heart goes out to him.

2 further points deducted, 4 suspended for next season. Have to submit a business plan proving financial susitanability for next season by end of July.

That’s fair enough.

I can see why the EFL would want business plans. I’m intrigued on how Macclesfield will provide them.

Unless you get a new owner I really dont see you surviving that. We had to provide proof of money that was over 1 million without the help of any EFL payments. Glad you have stayed up this season though and I hope you somehow pull through.

Aye good for Macc that they are going to stay up but this sounds more a temporary stay of execution than anything else. Nothing their current owner has done since they’ve been back in the league indicates they will be able to prove they are sustainable unless a takeover happens.

Fingers crossed for Macc fans that can happen or suspect they won’t see the start of next season regardless.

They also have to pay a 20k fine and legal costs. Can they even afford that?

Not one to feel sorry for Stevenage, but this is another nonsensical decision by the EFL Disciplinary Commission who seem to make it up as they go along. The Birmingham decision a few days ago was a total joke - find them guilty and then don’t punish them!

So right now we’re going to see a viable (in the loosest possible terms) club get relegated and League 2 restart next season with a max 23 teams and the league once again have egg on their faces. If I was a Stevenage fan I’d be absolutely fuming.

How can you have a punishment for the second offence worse than the first occasion and a fine submitted when they cannot even afford to pay their players!

In every division relegation is going to feel harder than ever this summer; if teams are not being punished where it becomes a deterrent, what is the point of following the rules?

Yep, unless he finally agrees to sell, and swiftly, we're still doomed. However, as pointed out on our fans group, how many clubs could produce that with no idea when fans will be allowed into grounds again.

Wasn't it an independent commission that charged Birmingham? The EFL actually wanted a points deduction and appeal the initial decision so if that's the case, the EFL had nothing to do with the Birmingham case really.

Its actually interesting what will happen to Macc given the precedence set by the Birmingham case, as this latest charge for Birmingham was for not providing a buisness plan to the EFL I believe which is what I think the EFL are looking from Macclesfield. EFL appealed the ruling of the panel and won, but there was no punishment.

Will be interesting to see if the same happens with Macc and they are unable to produce a business plan, if they arent punished either.

Well I don’t think macc will be able to provide a plan, they wouldn’t be in the shit like bury were, but certainly in dodgy circumstances.

The problem being is ask a chairman of the EFL now to provide you with business plan for next season? Odds are they probably can’t, as you don’t know what you’re planning for. When will fans be allowed in, how much will it cost to operate the furlough scheme now you’ve got to contribute more and also pay the NI etc.

I’m not stating for a second that I believe the macc chairman would be able to provide one in normal circumstances, but given these aren’t normal circumstances what do you do?

This could be the decision that changes Macc's future. The club is still worth something as a league club so maybe Alkhadi will sell up before he has to pay a £20k fine and provide proof of funds?

I'm glad the EFL made the fair decision and relegated the club that deserved to go down. Macc get a chance to sort themselves out that their performance on the pitch earned them.

Is Sealey still around?

He's still "around" and in contact with people involved with the club; he has repeatedly stated he would not buy the club if it was relegated.

Will Stevenage ever get back into the league again? I imagine if their owner stops pumping money in they will be on a one way trip down...

Ask the government for their financial plans and targets ,me thinks it may be less viable than some league2 clubs

I don’t think the EFL would know a business plan even if they fell over one. Something scribbled on the back of a cigarette packet would probably suffice for them.

Sadly they wouldn’t, they’re hopeless.

And 2 weeks later the EFL decide to appeal after pressure from Stevenage, Carlisle, Grimsby and possibly others. Their objection is that some of the points deduction was suspended until next season rather than being applied straight away.

Strange, seeing as the EFL could easily just reject our upcoming financial plan and kick us out that way.

Can understand Stevenage, but wtf are Carlisle thinking? Do you really prefer going to there instead of Macc?

And as for Grimsby, unbelievable given their recent history with Stevenage.

Hope this fails, Macc deserve to stay up because they did it on the pitch despite a massive points deduction.

Its funny to see some Stevenage fan giving it out that its justice as we cheated by signing players we couldn't afford. Yep having a player kicked out of his house and sleeping in a car he had to stop insurance for, the nighy before a game, was a key ploy for building a great spirit amongst the players

You know when you are a kid and you play spoofs and lose the first round, you then say, best of three! Feels a bit like that. To take a football metaphor, the goalposts appear to be moving.

Lots of words, but doesn't say much.

Could have summed all that up in 1 paragraph.
