So just why did the clubs in L2 want no relegation? Can’t see how many of them would care one way or another about Stevenage, tbh.

I wondered the same, I assume there is some sort of deal, just cannot work out what it might be.

An algorithm based on strength of opponents left and home and away would make more sense... as said Northampton had a terrible run in so from ours and Bradfords POV considering we’d played most of the top sides bar Crewe and Plymouth it seems harsh to allow us to miss out by 0.4 points or whatever it is.

Should scrap play offs top three up and keep Tranmere up (certainly if Stevenage stay up)

Agree, there should be no more matches.
This will will allow the clubs to save money by not staging games, enable them put their financial house into some sort of order and start planning for the next season whenever that is.

McAnthony, by insisting on playing out the matches is going to break the few clubs beyond retrieval who haven't the financial ability to fund it without having the gate income...a very selfish attitude.

I do not see how there can be any more matches. We are in the middle of a ruddy pandemic, one where the Uk has the second highest number of deaths, a PM who does not look at all well and a government communications strategy that will be cited for years of how not to do it. We are now loosening up, watch the space in a few weeks.

What are posters’ views about the Bundesliga today? One of my sons is looking forward to watching football on tv. I know Germany has handled this much better than the UK but I am against it. Note already one team, Dresden, has already had to quarantine for 14 days. Other teams are bound to be affected in coming weeks, at least it will finally make the EFL realise that playing games now is both morally and practical wrong.

Are Dresden twinned with Brighton? Are they, by chance, threatened by relegation?

I know some will disagree, but it's worth the experiment in my eyes. A football pitch will be one of the safest places in the world given the rigorous demands for testing. If the players are happy to do it, then they should be given a chance to see if it works.

Obviously money is the biggest factor as to why it's restarting, but I'm happy to see how it goes. I'm also happy for the top two divisions to play on in England due to the monies involved but League One should certainly be abandoned.

It'll be very different and slightly surreal, but someone's got to restart first so others can have a clearer, concise plan as to how they'll resume their leagues.

If things went badly wrong though, the league is set to cancel and decide positions on PPG.

Over 60% of the German population are against the restart for the reasons you state.
The R rate has increased in both Germany and the UK quite considerably over the past week and it's anticipated the it will continue to rise in the very near future.
There have been a number of players in the Bundesliga who have been vocally criticising the restart, not necessarily because of their own health, but because of the risk to their immediate and extended family of transmitting the virus as a carrier.
As you say, Dresden have already succumbed to a mandatory 14 day quarantine, Koln have already had three players test positive, there is a suspicion that other positive tested players may not be made public.
All of the 'Ultra' organisations of the clubs have expressed a combined and coordinated condemnation of the decision to restart, adding that football should not be played behind closed doors which may see them attending and standing outside stadiums, as happened at the Gladbach/Koln local derby back in March.
The whole world is watching the Bundesliga to see the outcome and whether it is a successful route back to live football and sport.
Personally, even though I have allegiance to Gladbach, I do not agree to the restart, to be honest I hope that it fails so that the world of football wakes up to the seriousness of this pandemic against the triviality of football and it's money.
Football people will then put more effort into fully concentrating 100% in order to solve this problem and bring football back in an eventual safe and secure society.

We've been dreadful this season and undoubtedly one of the worst sides to play in the football league in recent times. In all likelihood we'd have gone down, nothing we produced on the pitch this season could possibly back up an argument otherwise.

That said, the fact remains due to the points deductions, we were 3 points behind Macclesfield, had a game in hand and we still had to play the 6 sides directly above us in the table. Not sure how you can fairly relegate a side in that scenario.

Truth is we deserve to go down, in a parallel universe where a China man didn't fancy noshing on a bat we'd almost certainly be relegated, and if that ultimately proves to be the case then you won't hear any complaints from me.

I didn't rrelise Steveange had done so badly..

I doubt they'd be any better next season despite getting a reprieve.

Way too early to consider this as no one knows what lies ahead but from a financial perspective I think we're in reasonable shape. I think we only have two players contracted for next season which is great news for us. It allows us to manage costs should the coronavirus effect the start date next season and means all the players that produced the shit show this season can be booted too.

Probably realise Stevenage won't get much better (if at all ) next season.

New season shouldn’t start until crowds are let back into grounds. It is financial madness to play behind closed doors unless the players aren’t paid.

One of my sons watched one of the games on tv today. He said it looked like a training game, everyone was off the boil. In short, the quality was not great.

Dipped in to all 5 games at some point.
Dortmund were very good, Dusseldorf and Paderborn would still be 0-0 this time next week.

Looks to me like League Two's clubs have decided on a stick together mentality, vote against relegating Stevenage (One of its members) as it isn't morally right to relegate a member without finishing the season with them only three points from safety with 9 games left etc.

There's also probably a certain mentality against the National League as well - Don't allow one of their members a place in the EFL so easily.

Having said that, I wonder if this would all be the same mentality if Notts County were second and not Harrogate?

Personally, I think if you have promotion then you have relegation as well.

But if the members of League Two have voted 20-4 in favour of saving Stevenage, then I can't see the FA and EFLs top decision makers saying no to it, as their members have decided between themselves and will take the responsibility for it.

Where does this 20-4 come from? Everywhere I read says the vote was 24-0

“City have voiced their opinion that there should still be relegation as well as promotion, however the final table is decided.” From the journalist who covers us, I can’t say I’ve seen anything official.
