A decent point for us. Was tough going behind in the first half as we looked the more threatening side. Jake Cole made one good save in the second-half before Cunnington hit the post for us. Deservedly got an equaliser and then looked to win it.

Surprised at how negative Braintree were at 1-0 and 1-1. Two wins in our last ten compared to them sitting up around the play-offs. They had a corner, and with the last kick of the game they shielded it there. I suppose, it is daunting playing at Fortress Kingfield, the most intimidating Conference ground there is.

25 points for safety. Onwards and upwards.
That's why their defensive record is so good and why the hardly score. Best defensive in the league but only Kiddy, Southport, Alty and Welling have scored less.

Someone on our forum has put. That since March 2014. The 1-0 win at Chester that puts 2nd in the Conference Premier until the points deduction hours later we have played. 70. Won 16, Drawn 17, Lost 37!

Well Guiseley felt the force of our disappointment to losing on Saturday. We've lost three games so far this season, all against the run of play and each time we've given the opposition a hammering in the next fixture. I thought we were excellent last night and 5-0 really flattered Guiseley who could have not complaints had we scored several more.

As Si Robin said earlier nice to be top for more than 24 hours too.

I think we all expected more pastings than we've had so far (Cheltenham, Macclesfield and Aldershot). We never expected to get anything from teams at the top end of this league, so have done very well to have picked up a few points from some of them.
Our biggest issue now is injuries and a suspension. Both first choice centre halves out at the same time for three or four weeks plus one of our better midfielders and two wingers. We just don't have the depth of squad to cover that.
The difference in quality between the best and worse in this league is incredible.
Come what may it's an enjoyable ride :)

One for DSL.
I thought Jon Worsnop was outstanding last night and was a contender for m-o-m as were Hannah, Rooney and several others. Would have given it to Hannah myself, but it went to Hunt.

Fair doos to Worsnop he's had a bad spell, but last night his shot stopping was unbelievable.

Did you make it to the 70 minute mark or had you already left by then?

To anyone interested I think this post from our forum sums up the problems at Alfreton quite well -

To repeat the point I made last week - it is obvious that the side needs some help and some changes - a couple of experienced proven players in on loan (including a holding midfield player) could help turn things round.
I still believe there are players of ability in the side and some young players of promise - but it is painfully obvious that unless the ambition is shown now to give them a helping hand then things could go from bad to worse.
I have never been an unquestioning supporter of Nicky Law; and while recognising his great achievements at the club I said on this forum at the end of last season that I thought it was time for him to move on - and I still think that would have been the case. However I do not blame Nicky Law for the situation this season. On the small budget he has I think he has done well to bring in the players he has done. I don't think anyone could have done better on the resources he has been given.
When we can be outbid for players by Northern Counties sides who struggle to get 100 through the gate and who charge about £5 to get in then any manager is going to find it difficult to get a competitive side together in the Conference North.
Though there are clearly sides at our level with far greater resources than us; our attendances are far from the worst in this league and we are still charging £14 to get in (one of the higher prices in the league) - also we are always told we are in 'no debt'.
In view of this I would hope that some direction and ambition will be shown to at least try and halt the downward spiral the club is in danger of falling into. Doing nothing may save a few quid in the very short term - but in the long run the costs of doing nothing are enormous - gates of 470 may seem a fantastic dream very shortly if nothing is done.
One last question - where is Dan Bradley? - we need a player of his ability in the side. If he is injured there has been no information given.
The John Glasby/Roger Webster/Jonathan Collura situation shows all is not well - even among the leadership of the club - I think the supporters deserve some information and some answers.

Tight game, probably deserved to win but Welling defended well and have a good keeper in Tom King so will take a point. Unusual to see a load of leaves on the pitch at one end, and surprised they weren't swept off at half time with Welling defending that end second half. Their keeper actually slipped on them at one point, which would have been hilarious if it had led to a goal.

Expect Cheltenham to pull away tbh, we're not quite good enough to win the league yet.

If you look at our November and December fixtures it's all teams in the bottom half apart from our game against Forest Green next week. While it looks like we have a real chance to build a lead we would be foolish to think the games will be easy.

How many tickets have Forest Green sold for next week, a steward told me we are expecting around 4000 home fans so it should be a good attendance if you can fill the away stand which holds around 1000.

It holds 1100 (just to be pedantic).

The ground was empty last night so I asked where we could sit he responded you can sit where you want but if you are coming here for the Forest Green game you should get tickets in advance as we are expecting over 4000 fans.

Not sure how many we will bring, it is always hard to tell. I doubt if it will be anywhere near 1000 (or 1100), maybe 5-600 or hopefully a few more. Haven't heard whether there will be advanced ticket sales, or if it will just be pay on the gate.

I am really looking forward to the game and, depending on results at the weekend, we could have the same situation as when we met at our place with the teams swapping positions at the top as the game progressed. Either way, it is brilliant to have two Gloucestershire teams fighting it out for the top spot.

I think Gloucestershire teams are brilliant as well, I wish we could play against them every week!

Just read the Braintree manager's comments on their match turnaround i.e. playing Sunday and Tuesday.

Did Woking not agree to putting is back 24 hours? Or did they not request it?

Should be a similar amount to the Gloucester cup game I reckon. The away end wasn't full, but we had a good number (6-700?) so hopefully it will at least be similar to that. Difficult to predict though.

Maybe one day we'll get near the 1700+ we took to Swindon in the FA Cup back in 2007, doubt it though.

I haven't heard anything from our end about Braintree requesting to put it back and if they did, were they actually expecting us to agree?

"Yeah sure, we'll move it back to give us even less of a chance of getting a result against a team around the play-offs." :fl:

Not suggesting you would, but it seems odd for him to have a bit of a moan and not suggest anything about it being put back.

FWIW, I think it should be Sat/Tues or Sun/Wed.

No Farman in the squad, so 19 year old Aidan Grant makes his debut. Power (suspended), Bush and Hawkridge dropped. Stanley, Tempest and Wootton in.

Not overly confident with that line-up if it's 4-4-2 as it seems. No pace in CM and Tempest stuck out on a wing just because he's left footed I think!

Atrocious midfield, they couldn't be more one-paced, i.e snail, if they tried.

Defeat. Next.
