Whereas the New Lawn is always rocking...
Pic%201%20240.jpg

What's your beef with FGR Shrewdblue? You obviously have a very short memory. Think back to February 2010, when your team failed to show up on the day of a league game at our place, as your players refused to board the coach. We ourselves were hard up at the time, and could ill afford to lose the money which we did that night.

Despite that, your fans who arrived at the ground were greeted with open arms and sympathy of your plight, many including me bought your lot drinks and some pledged money towards your supporters trust in the hope you could get a new club going asap instead of allowing the dodgy Danish lot from "rescuing" you.

Our club then backed the decision to expel your club, which your fans wanted, despite it costing us 6 points to relegation rivals like Gateshead, who you'd beaten twice. Your expulsion led to us finishing in the drop zone by 1 point, we would have been several places higher if you'd been allowed to limp on, but we did the right thing.

I remember after your visit to us some of your fans commenting on what a nice club we were, and that they hoped to meet us in happier times in the future. Yet now you seem to dislike us, to the point of backing up a troll from a nasty thuggish club like Halifax against us. Strange.

As I've said before you are denying clubs like Macclesfield and Woking a place in the playoffs by whoring yourselves out.

Interesting that you class Halifax as thuggish when your motley crew sent two of our players to hospital recently, not forgetting your clubs penchant for employing jailbirds.

As I thought, short memory. So much for meeting again in happier times. I doubt you would do what some of our fans did and pledge money to us if we end up in trouble.

And we're not whoring ourselves out. Our majority shareholders sold most of their stakes to an extremely rich local businessman, who also happens to be a major employer in the area. What exactly do you suggest fans or minor shareholders were supposed to do? It's not exactly like Dale Vince is a convicted criminal, or that he hasn't got the finances to put his money where his mouth is.

Like most clubs, the fans have little say in who owns the club. You can either stay supporting the club and enjoy the ride, or you can stop.

You're the one with the short memory if, after seeing us go under, you can't see what is going to happen to your club when Vince has had enough.

You could have said no thanks, we're a respectable team that is maintaining Conference Premier football already. He would quietly leave in his electric car and the local cattle could still have a role to play in the catering at FGR.

How do you say no thanks? Did you manage to stop Vaughan, who is clearly much worse, taking over? No.

And why? Because fans have no say. Vince on paper looked much better and has no criminal past. Do you seriously expect a large number of people to try and stop a highly successful business man whose reputation would be damaged if anything happened to the club buying it, and instead let it possibly fall into the hands of much dodgier people who were rumoured to be sniffing around?

What's happened since hasn't been everyone's cup of tea, but you can't predict how these things will go and he's still there putting money in after nearly 5 years.

Nuneaton beat us twice, Alfreton should probably have beaten us twice. Telford could yet do the double too.....

There's no warning you lot. Just carry on singing your sugar daddy's praises and we'll see where it gets you.

Still haven't properly answered why you dislike us, considering some of our fans were willing to help your club. Our fans are amongst the most decent in this league.

We can't influence who owns us, I'm not sure how much clearer I can be. If you, pre-reform, had been told a relatively trustworthy local businessman with deep pockets wanted to buy your club, what would you have done?

You've given no reasoned argument whatsoever about how our fans, who had no influence on ownership or knowledge of Vince's intentions, other then he wanted to invest in a local football club, were supposed to behave or respond.

Your criticism appears to be of our owners at the time, for agreeing to sell the club. Given you have no knowledge of who they are and what they've done for us, I find your criticism unfair. They sold the club to someone who to most outsiders appeared to be the safest bet, and who financially at least, has so far proved to be.

In terms of what I would have said to someone taking over from Vaughan: "As soon as you see this criminal has lied to you about the millions of pounds worth of debt that is crippling the club, you'll run for the hills."

Message to Eastleigh fans:
If you, like Chris FGR, are disturbed by my dislike of your football club and require an explanation. Please see the above underlined message.
If you, like Chris FGR, have read the above and still don't understand why I dislike your football club then please re-read the above underlined message.

Allow me to explain it to you. We're a real club, your not. Real clubs and Tin Potters are clean different. One can never become the other. The real clubs know who they are and will always back each other against the Tin Pot community. For example, you could not begin to understand how much I'm rooting for Bristol Rovers and Grimsby now. Av it. :bdick::bdick::bdick:

The underlined message by Shrewdblue is completely nonsensical, and ignores all reason or common sense. If either of those 2 clubs owners received an offer from a relatively trustworthy local multi-millionaire what would they do?

Tell him to take a hike and struggle on, or look at his background and then maybe go ahead with a sale if he proves the real deal?

And my point had nothing to do with anyone buying off Vaughan. My question was if you were owned by trustworthy people who were running out of money, and received an offer from a relatively trustworthy local businessman with deep pockets, what would you have done? Protested, rioted, shouted nasty things at him? Or give him a chance to show his intentions?

Scene: Woking boardroom

Enter stage left: Chris Ingram

Ingram: Hello, I have lots of dosh and I am local...and trustworthy to boot! I will help you survive but I won't throw all my cash at the dream of the football league and you won't become a football equivalent of a cheap hooker.

Also, didn't you have to run to Vince, who bought the club for a quid, because of severe financial difficulties that the "prudent volunteers" ran your club to.

We have a terrible financial record, obviously, but don't swan around like you were a sustainable Conference club before the Vince money.

In the year before Vince took over, 09-10 we cut costs and broke even. The problems we had owed in part to an oversight on VAT owed on income from our gym, which was c250k as far as I can remember. The costs on our new stadium, which was completed in 2006, had also overrun, but were just about manageable.

Vince heard about our plight having initially been approached about sponsorship, and decided he wanted to help. He obviously liked what he saw, and given his successful background and status as a major employer in the area, our board obviously felt that selling the majority shareholding to him was the safest option to allow the club to flourish.

From 98-2010 the club was constantly growing into a sustainable club at this level, albeit with a few hiccups along the way. We are and always have been a club striving to grow and improve, and for the vast majority of our history this has been achieved without a sugar daddy.

Ingram, having done due diligence, snaps his arm off. Woking fans rejoice, as they turn full time, sign top names and finally complete their stadium.

Or would they say no thanks, we don't want your investment?

Message to ChrisFGR:

Relax, take deep breaths, and stop worrying what people on an internet forum think about you or your club.

Some people like clubs, some dislike clubs, but this is not a court of law where everyone who voices an opinion has to explain their reasoning, just deal with it and move on as you are getting (more) tedious (than normal).

Thank you.

We are now just 2 points clear at the top after slipping to our first defeat in the league for five months and that now leaves us winless in 3 games. We do of course have a game in hand but here's our final 3 games.
H Stamford
H Stourbridge
A Workington
We have 2 home games now to really rap up the title but I fear if we don't get the job done in them home games then we might of blown our chances of winning the league because I can't see us going to Workington and winning.

Two relegation battles, two midtable finishes.

That's the longest any ex-league club has gone without even remotely looking like challenging for promotion from the Conference since the two-up, two-down system was introduced (not counting Stockport, as sadly they got relegated before they even had a chance). Considering that it was only failure to hold on just a bit longer for a win at Macclesfield that cost them their league status in the first place, I'm amazed they should find this division such a struggle.
If you met our chairman you'd know why we are in such a mess.
We are going get less points this season than last but our comedy chairman thinks we are making progress, it's bloody scary!!!!
The holding company is the biggest problem by far though.

LCH is only a problem, IMO, because of the fiasco with the Trust/Trust shares.
