I wanted to run a small competition on here that doesn't need quite as much work as Grandstand.

Behold. 1FF Fantasy Football.

The rules are simple, you need to choose 11 players to make up your fantasy team. There is no budget and every player costs the same....zero! Your 11 players must be in the format of 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders and either 3 midfielders/3 strikers or 4 midfielders/2 strikers.

In terms of positions, feel free to ask any questions regarding a player.

The only stipulation is that you are only allowed to choose 1 PLAYER PER NATION.

After the group stage, you will receive 5 transfers. You can use these whenever you want (if you wanted to use all 5 for the semi finals for example, you could). The knockout round will see you allowed 2 PLAYERS PER NATION.

Points can be scored in the following way:

Goal defender: 7 points
Goal midfielder: 6 points
Goal striker: 5 points
Assist from open play: 4 points
Assist direct from set piece: 2 points
Clean sheet defender: 5 points
Clean sheet goalkeeper: 5 points
2 goals conceded defender: -1 point (and another -1 for every next two goals in a game).
2 goals conceded goalkeeper: -1 point (and another -1 for every next two goals in a game).
Red card: -3 points

Post your team entries below before the opening game Thursday at 7pm.
Please also post who you think will win the World Cup and the top goalscorer. These will be used in the event of a tiebreak.

How do you define wing backs? Specifically Meunier.

Wing backs go down as defenders.

The hardest ones to place are those like Mueller who play all over the place. For him, I'll let people go midfield or striker if they wish to include him.

Annoyingly I have Giminez in my dream team but not in this game.

Diego Godin's clean sheet gives the following a good start.

Leewilson - 5 points
Bobbin' - 5 points
Luke1884 - 5 points
Stevencc - 5 points
Vanni - 5 points

Big points dropped by those who didn't include Ronaldo.

Well... the 3 silly sausages who didn't include Ronaldo are sat firmly at the bottom. Most of us were deducted a point for having a Spain defender. Isco did everything but score/assist which is very frustrating for my team.

Early days but we're all up and running now.

France conceding has messed most of you up since you had Lloris/Umtiti (although some can count Umtiti lucky not to be red carded). The only points scorer was me! Griezmann scored to closed the gap to the top 5.

In the next match, everybody has Messi, apart from Skinner who will be praying for a clean sheet after going for Otamendi.

Eriksen's assist gets Epic and Skinner into positive figures and also puts Bobbin' and Luke joint top! Onto the 4th game today where a few of you want Modric to nab something and I want Mandzukic to score!

Modric delivered a goal to please Vanni, LOTAL and Epic whilst Mandzukic landed me an assist by winning the penalty. It's Vanni who ends the day as overall leader.

I will update this every day, sometimes game to game if I am about but since I teach weekdays, it certainly won't come straight after the 1pm kick offs.

Kolarov's free kick and clean sheet shot LOTAL right up to 2nd. However, it is the consistant Bobbin' with Coutinho scoring and Ivanovic keeping a clean sheet that tops the table.

Nobody had Harry Kane which was a touch surprising. Bobbin' keeps up his form with Lukaku's 2 goals. A few Belgian clean sheets and De Bruyne's assist keeps most of us ticking over.

On to tomorrow!
