Alright, there's a full explanation of what this is about here.

To recap for both those who are participating and for the rest of you, though:
  • first and foremost, anyone is welcome to vote on these attached videos
  • the format is the same as the European Championships (4 groups of 4, QF, SF, F)
  • videos will be posted in pairs, people should vote for their favourite from each pair by liking the post that it appears in
  • each video has been PM'd to me by a poster participating in this game, after they were assigned a random genre of music or a year
  • each pair of videos (and thus the posters who PM'd them to me) are facing off against each other
  • the poster whose video has the most likes after the deadline has elapsed will receive 3 points.
Hopefully that makes sense. Essentially, videos are going to be posted in pairs. Choose your favourite from each pair by clicking the like button. I will clearly label the matchups.

This is the Group D thread. Group D consists of the following posters:
Techno Gypsy
Ian H
Van Der Graaf
Stevencc

First round of Group D matches to follow this post.

The deadline will be 24 hours after the final match in Round 1 has been posted.

Shiiit, Group D looking like a potential group of death for me. Admittedly they did get two decent categories, in my opinion...
Remember, you should be voting for 1 song per match. Song with the most likes wins.
Group D - Round 1, Match 2
Genre: Trance
Dash Berlin vs Band of Horses - The Funeral (Das Berlin Bootleg) VS Art of Trance - Blue Owl

That is the first round of matches all uploaded, so I'll give you 24 hours (or when I first log on tomorrow, which is likely to be around this same time tomorrow) and then close the voting. After that, I'll upload some tables. Excellent responses so far to all involved and thanks to anyone that voted!

That trance one was an easy choice seeing as I don't like trance but do like Band of Horses. Smart of somebody to cast a net over two genres there.

Alright, voting is now over for the 1st round of matches. Bit of a travesty as far as I'm concerned in this group, one of my favourite tunes of the first lot of matches only scoring 2 points! However, I do also love that Cure song. Stevencc narrowly beat IanH in the trance off, while Van Der Graaf takes the top spot.

2nd round of matches to follow, as and when the nominations arrive in my inbox.

Had a request to post links to lyrics too, so from this round underneath each song there will be a link to those. However, if it's a piece of classical music or an electronic piece or something with minimal lyrics I won't be doing this.
Group D - Round 2, Match 1
Genre: Country
Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball VS Shania Twain - Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?
lyrics

Voting will close 24 hours after the final match of the round has been posted.

can't actually find the lyrics to this one, going off the radar here!

Disgusted there's a country round with no Johnny Cash or Eva Cassidy.

Love that Nicodemus tune, so for that to lose is the Mantronix travesty of the round for me. Narrowly missed out on a draw in the other match here.

Well I'm playing for pride now. I was going to go for Cash initially but wanted to find a woman country singer which has probably cost me.

It's a travesty that my Garage track did not win. I didn't even know I liked Garage until I started looking into it. Although my track was more speed garage apparently.

I enjoyed it even if I came bottom. Well played everyone in my group.

Yeah I didn't really like that song and it was something I would have associated with garage but thought I'd go for something a bit different.

Not complaining though and I love the track I picked so I've gained that at least.
