Sounded like we put in a great performance at Peterborough, both teams having good chances to win it. Look forward to bringing them back to our place, we've got a real chance.

More than happy with that result, I was expecting another Posh tonking!

Where's the FA Trophy thread?
Properly outclassed at Shrewsbury today, they were light years ahead of us.

I fell into the trap of expecting us to win, big away following, good run vs. bad run, small, struggling L2 side, can't be much between us. How wrong was I? Today a stark reminder of the gap between L2 and here and that we really did look like a non league team. Today was one of those 'it's hit home' days.

Back on the horse but I am a bit disappointed we couldn't compete more.

Outplayed an upper mid-table league one side. Used to be the norm but good to see we can play at that level when you take away the histrionics of non league football, it'll be interesting to see if we can repeat it in 11 days time..

Tranmere had a very poor record down at London rd when they were a league team, and an even worse one in cup competitions. Given this and the fact that Posh are 54 places above us in the league pyramid makes this result a tremendous acheivment.
Hats off to Maidstone and Oxford city today also.

Good to see the BBC report calling us a National League South side, make it seem better than it is :2thumb:

Comfortable victory for us against a lesser opposition. Happy to be in the draw on Monday and well done to all the non league sides that progressed

We gave it a go as a plucky Non league side.

Well done to Maidstone and Oxford City.

Poor from Macc today. Didn't really seem up for it and Forest Green were able to cruise past us without really trying either. All in all a very dull game which saw us go out in pretty low key fashion.

Good job Aldershot won the league when they beat Guiseley 6-0 in August otherwise Waddock would be under pressure now.

We were superb today. The better footballing side throughout and we should really have won the tie outright. Just emphasises that we have really good players when they are given time and space to play, but you need so many other attributes to get out of this division.

I doubt Peterborough will be as poor in the replay, but there was a lack of character in their side which I think we can exploit at Prenton Park.

We were never ever going to win today. We're doing fine, over achieved last season but only a point off play-offs and some winnable games coming up, particularly over Christmas.
Anyway, enjoy your cup final tomorrow :)

Fair play Maidstone, cracking win that.

Quite disappointed with how it turned out for us, but it is what it is. They were far more clinical than us in front of goal and the difference in fitness levels showed in the end, our lads were chasing shadows after going down to ten and only having 2 defenders on the pitch.

If only, at 2-0 up, Kenny Clark's header had of crept in instead of going past the post. Considering our defence has been relatively solid for most of the season so far, today was schoolboy stuff at times. Lads gave their all though. Looking forward to the visit of Orient next week.

Good luck to Donny. Their fans are moany little bitches, but they fully deserved to progress.

Bit of a stroll really, as easy as a 1-0 gets against pretty limited non league opposition.

Macc kept going to be fair to them but were never going to score, and we could easily have stepped it up a couple of gears if we'd needed to. Easily the lowest intensity game we've played this season.

What the hell happened at Gainsborough?
Looks like a full-strength team, a crowd more than double their average, and they get hit for six!
Also looks like Slough missed a penalty in injury time too.

That result alone would be enough to get some managers fired.

I know it wasn't FA Cup but we came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Eastleigh to continue our slow improvement under Marcus Bignot. Apparently we dominated the game but gifted them their two goals. The fans that went were in agreement that we should have won. We should start climbing the table soon.

Agreed. Your side was far better than ours and as your PA guy said at the end of the game, you "walked through to the next round". But we did make several changes from our normal first choice team so guessing Askey wasn't too bothered about a cup run this year anyway.

Woking won't have a better chance of beating us than today I don't think.

Beckford rumoured to be out injured, we also have no manager (although Lee Clark was crap anyway).

My preferred line up:

Murphy

Edwards Aldred Whitmore Williams

Bunn Ince Tutte O'Shea

Maguire Ajose

Subs:

Dobre
Mayor
Smith
Fasan
Humphrey
Laurent
Cameron

Fair enough. We were pretty much full strength, cos we are bothered about the cup. We need the money.

Got a couple of ex Rovers in your ranks btw, Jared Hodgkiss who was a great player for us, and George Pilkington who was only here a short while but was quality. Nice to see them again. Good luck for the season.
