I'm sure Challinor is well thought of in footballing circles but I believe that whenever caretaker managers do well then they should get the job if they want it. Simple as. I don't know anything about this Sweeney chap but it does look to me he was doing a decent job. His PPG is play off form after all???

Anyway, I hope Challinor does a good job. I'm being a bit selfish here but I want Pools to win promotion as I've never been to the Vic, and I'm told it's a decent away game.

Doesn't always work though, we had Matty Bates have a decent caretaker spell then after he got the job it went tits up.

Glad Sweeney is still involved, pretty happy with Challinor, big test for him, you can lose the fans here pretty quickly if things aren't going well.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is proving the precise opposite - never give the caretaker the job, regardless of their results.

Good appointment. Good guy and, despite what people might say, deserves more credit for the job he did at Fylde. It wasn't all about the cash.

Completely agree. Good luck to him. Did a fantastic job for us on a budget nowhere near what people think. He'll get hartlepool playing really good football, that's a given. Local rag said sweeney was staying on in some capacity and that was part of the remit with challinor when he took the job

Not officially starting here until Monday, he’s got some good players here to work with we’re just lacking a bit of something to get them consistently ticking.

I know it’s not a guarantee for what he’ll do here but how did he set his teams up at Fylde?

To be honest, I’m looking forward to see what he can do. We’re not a million miles away from challenging but far enough to give him a decent test. We’ve already got a squad who can play decent football at times but we let ourselves down with poor defending/keeping and inconsistency in front of goal. if he can address that quickly we’ve a decent chance.

He was definitely the best candidate out of who was available and hopefully this is a long term appointment. He needs to be given time. Raj Singh has probably told him play offs but we’re not quite there yet. Top half would at least be progress.

Delighted that Sweens will stay on, in fact the club made it a condition of the offer that DC would develop him.

We always played with one striker (apart from a few games this season) and we always played 4-5-1/4-3-3 with the full backs playing more like wing backs. Be interesting to see how he approaches the gime toure situation because he slated him a bit when he left us

433 actually suits Toure well as he likes to cut in from the left.

Cheers for that, similar to how we do/done things, Gime is a fan favourite here, so if there is any animosity he’ll have to bury it.

He seems like a genuine decent fella going off his first interview, I hope fans give them time and not write them off if their opening few results aren't great, pleased that Sweeney is involved in some capacity but also happy that Raj has allowed him to bring in his own number 2.

Only 6 months too late, at least it’s finally done. Garrard would be my choice but might be a bit too expensive to tempt away from Wood.

Knowing Dagenham it will be another dinosaur.

A fellow O's fan was at your game with Bromley yesterday and he said that Garry Hill was there watching........................

Surprised Dagenham stuck with Taylor for so long. There's giving a manager time, but it's got to be the right manager - he's a dinosaur.

He is always at our home games when he is not in a job, he was given the job but then Taylor got it last minute.

Worst manager I’ve seen for us, makes Burnett look good. Most fans wanted him gone in the summer, has now wasted a seasons budget.

The owners believed the bull fed to them by the dinosaur MD who was about to oversee his 3rd relegation and will now get in Hill as replacement, so predictable. Our new owners are brilliant but are falling well short by not letting their own man run the show, nothing will change until this man has gone.

Dunno if it's true or not - but Solihoof's forum is reporting that Tim Flowers walked out at half time in their 6-2* defeat at Tamworth last night.

* they were 6-0 down at ht and Tamworth had just missed a pen to go 7-0 up, lol.
