Confirmed teams -

1593188246482.png

Plus 1 of Northampton or Exeter, and 1 of Harrogate, Notts County, Yeovil, Boreham Wood, Halifax or Barnet. Barnet finished 4 points behind Stockport but stole the last playoff spot on PPG which seems harsh!

Questions on whether Macclesfield will be able to fullfill their fixtures next season due to their financial perils and whether we'd go to 23 teams or they'd be replaced.

No idea on dates yet. I read yesterday September was seen as a likely option to start?

I haven't been to Harrogate, Yeovil, Boreham Wood or Halifax but I'd rather NC come up than do a new ground (especially if it would be fucking Yeovil.) Easy to get to, a club not dissimilar to us, proper ground not a shed like some, suffered under scum owners, we were fortunate enough to just survive Normong in 2019 but they perished. Hope they come back up.

Who do you want to come up? Would you attend the opening day or are you worried about getting ill in mass crowds? Could we see clubs having to block off seats to force distancing between fans? Forced to wear a mask to attend? Closed food kiosks damaging club incomes? No cash transactions allowed? I know Vale have bought temperature sensing equipment like you see at airports to scan people walking in.

Ignoring the two missing teams as the playoffs aren't for ages, how do you see next season panning out? Who are you tipping for success and failure?

To early to say but fancy us to be battling for the top 7 and maybe top 3.

Salford will improve I guess but depends how the virus affects finances elsewhere.

Forgot to mention, you've reminded me with Salford. Remuneration caps for players from 2020/2021 onwards now a possibility to stop clubs going under and the mockery it makes of the competition.

Stop the joke clubs trying to buy the league and artificially increasing wage floors for everyone else.

Salford are getting slagged mercilessly on twitter atm because they've cut their youth funding overnight and left loads of kids in the lurch. All while spending £111,000 in agent fees and spending 6 grand a week on a centre forward trying to buy success for their crowd of two men and a dog. It's a disgrace.

Definitely got you lot down for top 3. One of the best sides I saw last year. Wiped the floor with us twice (until you went down to 9) did all the ugly bits well, outmuscled us all over the pitch but also knocked it about pretty well.

Bit like Crewe last season, where you could see a promotion winning side/momentum was being built, think the same goes for you this time.

Also reckon Mansfield, Salford and Bradford will be right up there.

If it has to come down to adding a new ground to those visited already then it would be one of Barnet (Underhill loads of times but not the Hive), Boreham Wood or Harrogate. If I could pick one of the three it would have to be Harrogate, a place I have driven through but never visited properly, I saw enough to make me want to return.

Mid table will be grand, with a cup run.

Would take 7th if offered now. No doubt we’ll play better more attacking football under McCall but his hands will be tied to an extent bringing in new players given so many still under contract and the likely wage cap. We’re over stocked already in key positions and yet don’t have (struggling to think of one) a centre mid.

Vale top 3 next season for me, seem to be building something good and look like they’ve kept a lot of players.

Hope so, looks like all the players we want are staying apart from Smith.

First time in years I’ve been looking forward to what comes next rather than hoping we either still exist, stay up in L1 or stay in the EFL!

We ain't gonna walk this league!

John Yems does appear to be able to set up a side that doesnt concede silly goals but we don't have the money to be buying players to aim for the top.

With a bit of luck we might make a tilt at the play offs but in all honestly mid table is about the best we can hope for.

Don’t think many clubs will be buying players

On Tuesday morning I was bullish about us having a go at the autos next season. The we announced our retained list and it knocked me down a little.

Ultimately, with the core of the squad we still have, we should at least be aiming for the playoffs again. Who we bring in to supplement those players will determine that of course.

Didn’t see much of League Two last season but would imagine Mansfield and Salford to be up there. A lot of praise for Port Vale so look forward to seeing what they’re like. I think Bolton will give the autos a push as well.

On a Tranmere basis I think we’ll be around the playoff places. We’ve announced our retained list and whilst there are only 10 on that list, there are some really good players. With a few good additions I think we’ll have a decent squad for the start of next season.

I'll take avoiding relegation... hopefully we've a decent manager now and shouldn't be expecting a massive struggle but if we're still skint and only offering one-year contracts then that could scupper us. Failed to lure Danny Philiskirk away from a tinpot club whose heyday as a bankrolled team seems to be over and who should have been relegated from the Conference. Worrying if that's our standard of target and we still can't get them.

They ARE getting relegated as long as the NLN playoffs go ahead.

You only have Haythornthwaite's word for that though, right? His word is worth fuck all.

Well I’m pretty confident next season can’t be as disasterous as the one gone by, so that’ll be a bonus.

(If it is worse we really will be in the shit)

Just be thankful the Bolton mob aren't on here yet. We're already finding out that they're insufferable.

Can’t imagine I’d be thrilled if I’d seen my team in Europe a decade ago and then I’d a trip to Mansfield to look forward to!

On FM20 Bolton are really up shit creek. Watched a Youtube video by a guy who after playing 8 seasons noticed Bolton were rock bottom of the Conference North.

Problem is, they think it's only a matter of time until they're back in Europe again.

Far too early to predict anything and now it's going to be harder due to the whole covid thing and the inevitable slashing of the playing budgets at every club. Bar Mansfield of course though I fear it will be all for nowt again 'cos success takes more than just buying every single L2 clogger that you can get your hands on.

But I love contradicting myself so here goes. As things stand right now, I would think that Port Vale and Exeter or Northampton should be up there in the top 3. I'm expecting Salford to have a better season and wouldn't be surprised if they win auto promotion. A few others that will probably finish higher than they did this season are FGR, Leyton O and Crawley.

I also expect the same sides that struggled this year in lower mid table to be there again next year. That's us, Grimsby, Carlisle, Oldham and last but not least the Staggies.
