Yessiree it's that time of the year again, and a most looked forward to time it is too if you're like me and support a shit team.

Righto, let's get things underway then with Harry Kane and Leyton Orient. Three much better efforts than the tractor tyre design shirts they had last year. That white one (the third shirt apparently) is a thing of beauty. I'm almost tempted to get one myself!

Go on you know you want to get one. It's perfect for when your little brat (all kitted out in his Man U strip) wants you to help him out with practicing penalty taking in your back garden. Go on, put on the replica shirt and show the little bugger what a proper fan looks like! It's handy for social distancing as well because nobody will approach a grown up man wearing a replica shirt when you pop down to the chemists. And you could always wear it at home while watching iFollow's live streaming of the match.

Other than we believe being sponsored by Robbie Williams news on our shirts have gone quiet, possibly due to being Errea and Italy have had a longer shut down.

Seems to me Port Vale always come up with one of the better strips in the league, and not only the home shirts but the away ones as well. Other clubs that I find are more hit than miss as far as shirt design goes are Carlisle and Grimsby.

We’ve had some good ones in recent years to be fair, the England 70s design was good (season not so good!) Errea have been decent for us, although we oddly left them for one season 18-19 for BLK then went back to Errea this past season. BLK kit was our best seller.

Always think with the gold trim it seems to compliment the black and white well, wasn’t keen when we dropped the gold late 90s early 00s.

Carlisle do alright ones again maybe the red third colour on it... did like their deckchair kit I must say!

Always seem to know you’ll often get some luminous Colchester away kit!

Plymouth’s have been decent too, liked the one they wore v us all be it oddly as it was closer to our home colours than them wearing their home kit with the white and green patterns on.

Those Morecambe ones look decent. Away one is very Millwall mind!

There were rumours that this past season may be our last with Errea after 23 years. We've a relationship with Luke (did Villa's kits for the 18/19 season) and there's been talk that they may be doing our kits from this summer.

Nothing official though, and possibly just someone putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

I think Luke did Kidderminster's kit this season. Not sure I'd want to switch from Errea though, mostly because they've been around for years now and you know what you're getting. And I think we've all discovered by now that the biggest problem with their shirts is the sizing, but that's the norm with Italian manufacturers.

The biggest concern with relatively unknown suppliers is their abilty to meet demand. For instance, BLK do know how to design a footy kit but apparently they had some trouble with delivering new stock in time to the Port Vale and Hartlepool club shops.

I'm not fussed either way. As you say, on one hand we know what we're getting. On the other hand, we've been with them so long a change could be good. I only vaguely remember a time where we didn't have a kit manufactured by them.

It's been that long that our most recent home kit was a 20th anniversary kit of their first kit with us!!

Their kits looked amazing but stock supply was poor but the worst part was the training kit that was delayed so we had players training in whatever we could find for weeks! Pope wasn’t too chuffed even tweeting them asking when he was getting some shorts!

Am I the only one who thinks BLK products both look and feel like cheap polyester shite? Specifically that purple away kit.

I thought the material felt thicker than usual almost like a rugby top! Did have to take two home Shirts back though as the ink had run when they’d printed the black and gold stripes on!

Ours were new last season so I don't expect any change, at least for the home kit...it would however be nice to hear something from our club...anything...they seem to have taken the furlough option really seriously, disappearing from public view, apart from an odd (always odd) appearance by our Chairman.

We've just ditched Nike and their off the shelf standard designs and taken up with Hummel for the 20/21 season...who have promised bespoke designs for both home and away kits.
Still be claret and white or white and claret though, as long as it's not the red and yellow that Nike lumbered with as an away kit once.

Good luck with Hummel, they failed to deliver for us...literally...despite having several months lead in time our kit failed to arrive for the first game of the season. The day before the game against Grimsby the club bought a set of kit from a local sports shop, who sent them up on the day of the game by courier. We had to wear the kit, home and away, for the first couple of months of the season until PlayerLayer produced kit for us. Despite not being our real colours the strip provided by the sports shop, very similar to Man City but with a slightly brighter blue, became a fans favourite.

'Despite not being our real colours'

Bit like the current kit then.....

That blue kit was the nicest kit we've worn at home in about 9 years. Some of our away kits decent. The fluorescent nuclear green, not so much.

Tbf to Hummel, their kit designs were by far the best looking we've had since we had the green forced on us. The problem was the fuckers never delivered it.

Yeah, I know that our real colours would have us in a direct kit clash with Grimsby Town, but we have had the green and black for the best part of ten years now and despite not really liking them at the start they have sort of grown on me.

Probably the worst of the lot was when we first went to green and black, with red away, there were so many kit clashes that we ended up playing mix and match away from home...at times we looked like Bulgaria. I did like the blue and white kit and was a bit sad when we stopped using it.

Agree with you about the away kits, the black and white one from a few seasons ago was really smart and I half wished that they had swapped it with the home kit and gone green and black away.

I will put it out there and say I like FGR's current colours, different.

What was the beef with the Barcelona badge though?!

The Barcelona style badge was introduced when we joined the Hellenic League in the 70's, thinking along similar lines to when Leeds changed to Real Madrid colours.....

I grew up with that as our badge, had loads of bits and pieces of merch with that badge on it, mugs, pencil case, key rings, lighters etc so was gutted when we ditched it. Not sure Barca would have been that bothered about it tbh.

I liked the badge too, even if it was fairly similar to Barcelona's, and think it was far better than the one that replaced it...which is frankly awful and looks more like something a county council would use...mind you, at least Dale didn't go the whole hog and use the devils head thing.

They're quite nice kits to be fair.

Granted, the two efforts are better than the ones they had this season but I'm not a fan of either design. I think the home shirt is the better design but that's only because the away shirt looks just like a goalie design from 2008.

BTW, does anybody know anything about this Errea idea to produce a number of retro shirts for a number of clubs because they want, and I quote, ''to make a tribute to the English game''?

As well as our standard blue, we've got a 125th anniversary red/white striped shirt with navy shorts.

There was a vote for which is to be our home and which away, I don't think they revealed the results, but most seemed in favour of us playing in red and white at home next season.
