Halifax would be much better off going straight into the Premier League, after all the locals only go to watch when decent away sides are in town.

Is that on a Tuesday night?
Because sub 1000 against Eastleigh and Woking suggests attendances isn't a good target for you when Halifax have managed at least 1k all season..

Halifax population C:80,000
Nailsworth population C:6,500

I reckon our attendances are pretty good, all things considered. Our average isn't far off 1,400, over the season, which is fairly close to what Halifax manage. I accept that many people travel to games from outside the village, but as a percentage of the local population attending games there can't be many teams in the country who can beat what we achieve.

Means sod all. You have no competition for fans in the area and your capacity to increase the fanbase is limited. This is why your owner is looking to move you elsewhere.

Out of interest, do you have 2 Championships clubs who are both former league champions and a League 1 side that has won the FA Cup 20, 10 and 5 miles away respectively too?

On a serious note are more people into rugby league in Halifax and into rugby union in Nailsworth/Stroud?

Yes, and I'd go further and say that for Gloucestershire as a whole. Never understood the attraction really.

That's an easy cop out. There are plenty of clubs in a far worse situation who get far better crowds then you do.

Bradford City won the FA Cup before World War 1 and Huddersfield won the league in the 1920s! They're both pretty irrelevant facts.

Yeah, I remember on my one visit to the Lawn in 2004/05 there were some home fans wearing Gloucester rugby shirts. I'd watch a top-class international rugby match on TV but I don't understand the attraction of club rugby.

In non league? Who? Stockport. Who else?
We have Man Utd, City (23 miles), Liverpool, Everton (45 miles) & Stoke (24 miles) all within an hours drive - a little bit bigger than Leeds & Huddersfield!!

Its just something we have to put up with, nothings ever going to change!

Correct, and your gates are about the same as ours or less. So much for FGMs typically ludicrous assertion

Barnet and Kidderminster spring to mind for starters, I'd also add Woking and Maidstone to that who are both less then 40 miles away from London.

So you're finally starting to realise that you're not above or superior to other non-league clubs. You're small fry and not many people in your town give a shit that you exist. You're tinpot too. :bdick:

I drive just over ten miles to get to a home game. On days when Gloucester Rugby have a home game, at the same time, I pass car after car with people wearing their team colours heading in the opposite direction. I would agree that Gloucestershire is massively rugby orientated. On a good weekend with all three senior teams playing at home you would be lucky to get a third as many people watching football as filling Kingsholm to watch 30 men playing chase the egg.

Given that we are in a largely rural county with only three big towns, two of which are mainly rugby orientated (Cheltenham and Gloucester), I think we do pretty well on the attendances front.

You do get the odd one or two even now, but not very many. Many who follow rugby round here look down on football fans as some sort of pond life, rather than just having an interest in a different sport, but I guess that view isn't exclusive to Gloucestershire.

I have always contended that it is. With our catchment area of roughly 250,000 people + exiles we should have gotten 5 figure crowds in the Championship and Bristol Rovers-esque attendances in the Conference. But then most c**ts in the area support Sky Sports FC, so what can you do. :dk:
