The clasico weekend!

Independiente beat Racing 3-0. Bit of a shock that. Huracan beat San Lorenzo 1-0, meaning Boca have a chance to go up in the table if they win today.

Rosario vs Newells today, as well as Estudiantes vs Gimnasia and also Colon vs Union. and the last match being Lanus vs Banfield, but the most important one of them all, RIVERPLATE vs BOCA! And these 2 teams are as good as they have been in the last 5 years, so surely it will be a thrilling match. Hopefully no pepper sprays this time.

Rosario 0-0 Newells at the half. Not been a thrilling game but I've still enjoyed it so far. Rosario looking pretty good.

Abysmal performance from Riverplate. Usually they are pretty good in defence, but not today. Mammana was awful today.

No creativity from Riverplate as usual.

I didn't see the second half, but Boca were certainly much better in the first. After the San Lorenzo game last week, I was convinced that Boca had no chance of winning the title. One week later and they're back on top...

Also, it appeared that San Lorenzo were given a massive advantage by having their clásico against a much weaker team in Huracán, whereas Boca's is obviously against River. It ended up working in Boca's favour though as they won home and away against River and San Lorenzo only took 3 points from Huracán.

They should do, with Crucero del Norte and Tigre to play at home but their away games at Rosario Central and Racing, which will both be very tough. However, Boca are in excellent form and as long as they win their home games and don't lose both of their away games, then they should be safe.

Last night was a very impressive and comfortable win against a pretty good team.

Boca will get a result in at least one of those 2 tough away matches vs Rosario and Racing. As for Tigre and Crucero Del Norte, they're easy wins.

San Lorenzo will fall apart, already 4 points behind. I think Rosario will finish second.

I've not seen much of Tigre, but they're 9th, so it won't be easy but it still should be a win. Crucero del Norte shouldn't even be in the Primera so it should be very straightforward. In summary, I think you're right that Boca will win it.

After Tigre conceded 5 at home to Huracan, I don't see too much in them to be honest. I know its just 1 game but still. Especially if its at La Bombonera.

Riverplate lost yesterday. Didn't watch the match but I'm sure they were missing players like Kranevitter. Not too surprising although it does seem they have lost all interest in the league now. They should at least try to finish as high as possible now for honour, even if winning the league is near impossible now.

Racing - Boca this weekend is a big, big game. Boca win, the league is basically theirs.

The league is basically between Central and Boca now. They will also meet in the final of the Copa Argentina after both sides won their semi finals on Friday. I like this Central side very much, but obviously am hoping for a Boca double.

It would appear that Calleri is joining Inter and will probably immediately go out on loan to Bologna. Shame.

It looks like Boca are determined to bring Dani Osvaldo back as well. He did ok at the start of last season but I'm not completely convinced that it's such a good idea.

Depends on the money they bring him in for.

As you said he did ok at the start of last season but he was on a lot of money and the performances he put in weren't good enough for the amount of money he was on.

So, Osvaldo has signed now. Despite losing Calleri, Boca are looking pretty strong for this season - a decent effort at the Libertadores is essential.

You obviously never really know what you're going to get with Osvaldo - it's been ages since he's actually done anything at a club. He did seem pretty happy during his loan spell with Boca though, so it would be nice if he settles down and performs this time.

Believe it starts on the 7th of February this year. I honestly can't see anyone but Boca winning it. Racing may challenge them for it but Boca should walk it with the squad they have. River Plate have lost their 2 best players in Sanchez and Kranevitter and haven't really replaced them with much to my knowledge. Although Alario is still there and he's class.

lordofthepies and Aaron-Bcfc you guys up for me setting up a prediction league for the Argentine Primera Division on that site?

Signed up. Signed up to do the Libertadores too, so it would be cool if you set up a league for that.

Yep, will do that very soon. Will tag you in the thread once I have it all set up.

Ha! Not quite the spot on result but I knew taking a Rafaela win over Huracan was worth the gamble!

Poor Quilmes. Didn't realise they'd lost Bieler as well. Gonna be a long season for them.
