Anyone know what the stewards are like at Barnet. The reason that I'm asking is that our game there on Saturday has been dubbing the "Barnet Inflatable Invasion" with everyone being encouraged to take an inflatable of some sort with them after the goings-on at Forest Green the other week when one of our fans was forcibly removed from the away end for playing with a blow-up football.

It could be quite a sight to see, although not quite on the level as Plough Lane circa 1989. I was just wondering how the stewards are likely to react with loads of away fans turning up with various inflatables.

I wouldn't build your hopes up. They confiscate camera phones down there!

It'll be interesting to see them confiscate a few hundred inflatables though. :woo:

We took a big following down there last season and had no problems. Even when 3 or 4 smoke bombs were thrown on the pitch they made no attempt to eject anyone.

In 09/10 a Barnet steward got arrested for punching one of our fans, it was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.

There might be safety in numbers but there were a few hundred cameraphones down there with us last April too. What if you only bring a few inflatable footballs and a early '90s banana anyway?

Nothing more irritating in this world than Jobsworth bullied at school stewards. On a par with bus drivers for abusing their tiny amount of power

Its probably one of those power in numbers things, Ie if one person runs on the pitch, they'll get caught by the stewards and escorted out of the ground, but if 50-60 do it, there seems to be no control.

You always get Stewards piping down when hunderds are stood up, but when a club takes a small support taking great delight in telling people they'll be removed if they don't sit down

We had trouble recently with Woking fans acting like hooligans, causing a riot and endangering the lives of the whole of London by tugging at the goal net so I expect the stewards will come fully equipped with water cannons, smoke bombs and rubber bullets in preparation for an invasion of inflatables.

I'm pretty sure there will be far more than that going by the thread on our forum. I'm sure we'll have at least 500 fans there next week, and just about everyone I know who's going is taking some sort of inflatable.

As you all know we have the worst stewards in history. I got threatnened to be ejected If I didn't sit down and refrain from calling John Joe O'Toole a pikey twat on Saturday. Jobsworth's the lot of em.

You had better ask the Woking fans about our stewards. They weren't very happy when the Met riot squad turned up.

All away fans are searched before being allowed entry. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if our stewards confiscated the lot as dangerous weapons.

Your coach will be searched beforehand as well.

I'm sure they'll piss you off in some form or another.

Very bad idea. The riot police will be called in and arrive IN THEIR NUMBERS to beat you to death with your own inflatables. That is, of course, if you haven't RIPPED down the goal net by then like our yoof tried. The Barnet Stewards will not allow you to have any fun AT ALL so I would expect your inflatables to be removed as you try to enter the ground.

With us not having a game I was actually planning on finishing the job our yoof started on the net at the away end.

You'd have a job, there are currently rugby posts up.

Well, obviously. I wasn't going to visit during the week. :dk: We don't have a game on Saturday.

We were stood up for the whole game in your promotion season and they were all spot on with us.
Even singing at the fat one to get his tits out at half time he was laughing! :D

After damage done by Woking fans to the nets and our inability to beat Grimsby at football, we've decided to try rugby instead.

Despite our last 2 results I'm really looking forward to the game on Saturday. Staying over at my brother's in Surrey for the weekend so hopefully the game won't spoil the weekend like it often does.

We played them first game away, they search you before entering. Also after a humbling defeat on a Tuesday night the met scumbags spent a whole hour searching the travelling coaches and minibuses to add to the abject misery. Really loved going to Underhill with the town and pubs in close proximity, this new build was all in all a horrible experience.

A fair number of those pubs have gone in recent times. Will the UWE be close to a town centre?

Me too, still haven't been to the Hive and to be honest I'm not really looking forward to it. It could be argued that the old ground wasn't fit for football in the modern age, but it certainly had character and I enjoyed my visits. I don't remember there being much change between my first visit to Underhill in the very early 80's, to the last time maybe ten years ago.

Never had trouble with Barnet stewards, even at Underhill.

Is the Edgar Davids look-a-like still there?

At Barnet I was initially told I couldn't bring in deodorant because "it can be sprayed in people's eyes".

Stewards didn't seem so bad though, more the bearded, gum chewing "leader" of the riot squad acting as if he was in charge of a secret service mission.
