Looking forward to this game, one thing I'm sure about happening is rovers conceding early like we keep on doing recently and then we'll start to play, will we have enough quality about us to get into the game against a stronger team than us I'm not so sure, but we'll give 100%.

The mood at BL is much much better these days.

In past seasons in div 1 we tended to buy established Championship players and PL rejects. On paper we were one of the best teams in league 1 but our team had a bad attitude and seemed to have a bit of a superiority complex. When things went badly the crowd would give them stick, so few players wanted to ball and we lacked leaders.

This season under the new manager Chris Wilder we've changed our buying policy and bought top quality established league 1 players and Wilder seems to have a big emphasis on team spirit, attitude and leadership.

So we aren't great this season but we seem to have a Leicester type team spirit. Our fans can't grumble anymore because the players finally seem to care and give 100%.

We lost our early matches because of goalkeeping or defensive errors. So the manager paid £500,000 for a new goalie and we also brought in some new defenders.

Now we look much more solid and have won 4 drawn 1 in our last 5.
The important thing with all those matches is that we've shown the right attitude and will to win. Still not gelled properly yet and I'm sure the team will improve as we also have decent strength in depth.

My prediction.

We paid £500,000 for him to replace George Long who had made some early season blunders and he became the scapegoat for our fans who would sarcastically clap and cheer when he caught an easy cross. You could tell it was massively affecting his confidence.

Moore came in with high expectations and to be honest he was at best average on his debut and no improvement on Long. Our fans were concerned and wondered if we'd wasted out money.

BUT since his debut he's got better and better. Although it's helped massively that we've brought in a big imposing centre half Ethan Ebanks- Landell from Wolves on loan.

Moore is definitely a big improvement on the previous goalie.

His strength which stands out is that he's very vocal and he's constantly trying to help out/ command the defence (Long never did this).

Our weakness for the past few years has been facing corners and crosses into the box however Moore is a commanding presence and comfortable coming out to take crosses. Many of our fans have already commented how we used to be nervous facing corners but now if the cross is anywhere near Moore then you can relax because you know he'll claim it.

So our fans are very happy with him so far.
The weakest part of our team has now definitely been strengthened.

Both teams have moved up the table well over the last couple of weeks so should be high in confidence. Wilder will know a bit about us having come up against us last season. You've got to think coming away with a point would be a good result for us in a long distance midweek game against one of the favoured teams and I don't see why that if not more can be achievable but we'll have to play our best. I've got a feeling Sheffield United might just shade it though.

Seeing as we've already played against Simon Moore once this season, I'm hoping Linesy can beat him with another screamer.

Have you seen the goals at Scunthorpe absolutely shambolic goalkeeping for the 1st and should be doing much better on the 2nd too. Completely undid his top performance against Peterborough.

Agree he should have done better but neither were blunders.

And he inspires confidence in the defence.

Do you not agree he's a major upgrade from George Long. Our defense seem transformed at dealing with corners and crosses.

Yes he's definitely an improvement in just thought you sounded a bit overly confident with him. He's had a couple of good games for sure but he cost us a goal at home to Oxford and at least 1 the other day in my opinion 2. Cut them errors out and he looks good.

What a complete moron... 0-10 at least :2thumb:

:bg:

No hard feelings, I actually hope you go on to have a decent season as I hold no grudges whatsoever in regards to Rovers.

Back to the norm for us at Vale Park tonight though. See you later on in the season... :2thumb:

Hard to judge by the commentary, but sounded unlucky not to come out of this one tonight with a point. Days like this where you really miss Matty Taylor.

Easter has had a cracking week for us but for a very experienced player to lose his head and get a straight red card like that is frustrating and isn't the first time either. 1-0 with 11 men and we've still got a chance, 10 men and it's a really tough job.

Commentary were really harping on about thinking there was a foul on our player that lead to United getting the ball and scoring, would like to see that, but won't change anything. Encouraging performance seemingly but nothing to show for it, still, there will be easier places to go.

Rovers fans wow what mongs I thought we had some mongs but they could be the most inbred type I've seen. Couple on the floor on bramall lane motionless. Idiots showing off got what they deserved

Bit of a c*** thing to say. No need to be using ableist language either really. Up to you though.

I'm a Rovers fan, does that make me a **** blademan89?

I'd hazard a guess that Sheffield United has more 'mongs' than we do...

Then again you said a couple. 2 mongs out of 800 is pretty respectable, who knew you had such a fantastic, unmong-ish fan base?!

Rovers fans - Hartley injured? Or have you realised he is probably not good enough? Good player to have in the squad for a bit of cover though. Hows Boateng doing?

We have a bit of a tendency to rotate the team, so I'm sure he wasn't dropped. He's done okay for me so far, not perfect but a step up from Parkes for sure.

Boateng doing alright as well, but again he's been in and out of the team. Some performances better than others but there's enough talent there for him to consistently perform at this level.

Can't believe we didn't come away with at least a point last night. In terms of chances and efforts on goal I think we shaded it even though United had slightly more of the ball. It just makes you think what could have been if it was Matty Taylor who had the free header in the first half and Easter's one-on-one in the second.

To go to BL and play like that was a sign that we can compete with anyone in this division. We can take huge confidence from that.

I haven't re-seen the incidents but DC is adamant there was handball on the line right at the end. That would be even more gutting should it be obvious in the highlights.

Before I moan, I'm going to say the Easter challenge is one of the most justifyable red cards i've seen. He could have been sent off twice for it.

But having watched the highlights, the referee has dropped two clangers for me. Definitely a foul leading up to the United goal on Ellis Harrison that turns over posession and a handball off the line in the last minute. Gutter.

As Lee Brown said, unfortunately not decisions you get away infront of a big crowd but could have been very different.

Don't worry mate, I'm busting your chops.

Couldn't make it last night and I've been on 2 weeks holiday previously meaning I've missed the last THREE home matches and guess what? When I'm not there we win all 3.

I've been to 4 matches this season and not seen us win yet.

I listened to the life commentary on the radio and the post match Chris Wilder interview.

Sounded a close match which many on our side think we just edged however a minority of Blades have admitted a draw would have been a fair result.

The thing that's impressing Blades this season is that we haven't gelled yet and have some good squad players waiting in the wings desperate to play, so in theory we should improve as the season progresses.

It was a tough match and a bit of a scrap. In previous seasons we would have lost this type of game but Wilder is a passionate Blade himself and he seems to have brought in leaders who give 100%, have character and are up for the battle.

In league 1 the standard is pretty poor at the top end however teams at the bottom are decent. Theres not a big difference between teams at the top and teams at the bottom.

So to get promoted a team doesn't have to be the most talented.
Just being a Leicester type side, organised, consistent and works hard will take you far.

Under Wilder we seem to finally have the team spirit, right attitude, commitment and work ethic.

It's 5 wins and 1 draw away to the league leaders in our last 6.
We've played reasonably well in all those matches without ever being great or impressive. So our fans are starting to get a bit excited.
Finally this might be the year to get out of this horrible league.

Let's be straight here.

Sheffield United are well know for having a high percentage of tools that embarrass the club. There's been numerous occasions of our fans fighting amongst themselves.

Well we averaged 1,000 in conference and 1,300 when finishing third in league one last season... Point is you get over twice as many as us at home. Fair enough but you don't take twice as many away. It's fairly even

That 1,300 average away following is garbage - and did you really finish 3rd in League One last season?! League One??? Thought you finished 3rd in League Two last season?? You don't even know which division you were in!!!

And a quick comparison of our followings - 2015 JPT Final at Wembley, City took over 40k fans to the final of a tinpot competition ....your play off final at Wembley in 2015 - you took 24k fans - for one of the most important games in your history...end of argument

Well it's not end of argument is it?

Because firstly he made a mistake and clearly meant league 2. Don't be a prat and then say that he doesn't know what league his team was in.

But fine let's do a Briz Red comparison should we?

City go to a final in Cardiff. Rovers go the season after for the JPT and take more than 40k. City go to Wembley for a championship final play off. Rovers again took more to Wembley in the L2 play off final. Surprising as it was your arguably "one of the most important games in your history"

Oh and by the way, our away average last season was 1161. So being 139 fans out of an entire season average is hardly 'garbage'. Now is it end of argument?

Bore off back to OTIB mate.

You're one of the top posters in both Rovers threads on your forum, you post frequently on our forum and you even come to post in Rovers related threads on here. You've literally created an account and your first post is about Rovers. But you're not obsessed eh?

Our away average last season was like 60 lower than yours. You are a Championship club who boast "massive" home gates that we couldn't dream and how you get to visit beautiful stadiums compared to the shit pits we get, but our away following was similar to yours?

Lets not forget 2006/07 when we took more for a League 2 Playoff final than you have for either of your two recent ones.

Don't forget the best part MB, when they would laugh at us for competing in the JPT and how tinpot it is to be associated with it. I remember posts being branded about saying how the gap was so large they'd be embarrassed to be in the cup.

Now they're using their attendance in that cup to brag about their massive support. You couldn't make it up
