Reduced to only 3 years and just paid for 2 years for clubs relegated after one season...(maybe us!)

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/02/parachute-payments-clubs-relegated-premier-league

Promoted clubs who are relegated after a single year in the Premier League will no longer benefit from full parachute payments from the 2016-17 season. The change in the rules means that the promoted clubs, Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich, will miss out on a year of parachute payments if they go straight back down at the end of next season.

The parachute payments system is also changing so that the money – at least £64m – will be distributed to relegated clubs over three years rather than four. Clubs who go back down after a single year in the Premier League will get only the first two years of payments rather than the full three years.

The new rules will not affect the three clubs most recently relegated from the top flight – Hull, QPR and Burnley. They will receive £64m split over four years – £24m in the first year, then £19.3m, then £9.6m for each of the next two years.

Can't argue with that, think the parachute payments give way too big of an advantage to clubs to go back up. I think capping it a little is a good move.

It may just be me, the article isn't particularly well written or clear. Clubs relegated after one season WILL still receive payments, but will receive one year less - i.e. 2 years instead of 3, and calculations reckon that Watford/Bournemouth/Norwich will receive circa 20m less as a result if relegated after one season compared with Hull/QPR/Burnley just gone.

Surely the whole parachute payment system needs overhaul in line with the incredible and ridiculous new TV deal, regardless of these changes. It does seem a bit sore if the goalposts are moving for just one season before presumably changing again.

The whole premise is ridiculous really, despite my own club likely to benefit from the payments over future years. All it does is encourage players and agents to leach off clubs trying to rebuild themselves.

Should be drastically reduced anyway, QPR a prime example of why they can be bad, teams don't use parachute payments to prepare them for life in the championship, teams more often use them to try and buy their way back to the premier league putting them at greater risk should they not make it. Reducing the amount by a fair bit would make teams adjust quicker.
