Confirmed as the new Leicester manager in the last few minutes.

Good coach overall? Not sure whether he will come and match the expectations of the Leicester owners.

Thoughts?

He was a disaster in his last job as the Greece head coach. He's a big name for Leicester mind

For me, it's a terrible appointment. I grew out of love supporting Chelsea when he was sacked as his personality really endeared him to me. However, I just see him as a footballing dinosaur these days. I can't see him lasting the season there.

This will be an absolute disaster for many reasons.

The man is a dinosaur from the 90's. This is an awful appointment.

While I like the bloke and I thought he was a little unlucky back when Chelsea got rid of him (after they came 2nd in the league) I'm not exactly excited by the prospect of him managing Leicester. It's preferable to O'Neill cos I don't want to see him spoil his legacy by making an unsuccessful return, but after all the changes to the style Leicester play that have took place over the last year, and Pearson finally getting the formula right, I can't see Ranieri being the man to progress it.

I think Leicester will go down with Ranieri in charge. He badly failed in charge of Greece, and I think even got beat at home to Faroe Islands. For me he should have retired after getting Monaco promoted

I love him. He went to Highbury in a 1/4 final Champions League second leg with Ambrosio as our keeper and we won.

I really hope he does the business as he was so likeable when he was the Chelsea boss, but I think it will a disaster. I thought Lennon would have been a good choice.

Where have I done that? He did well at Chelsea but was moved on at the right time. He did really well initially with Roma and almost won Serie A, however this was a long time ago. I think he's been a competent manager but was a disaster in his last job, and hasn't won too much during his managerial career. I can't see him being a success at Leicester

Reminds me of Warnock to Palace last season, everyone knows it's not gonna work out.

It's not just that, he plays a completely different style of play to what Leicester and their current players are used to. Leicester stayed up playing high tempo, quick pressing and using two strikers up top to good effect my occasionaly being a bit direct. It worked for them.

Well that's you pointed out, the greece job was a disaster waiting to happen no matter who was the manager, he's actually got a very good record in club football.

Never been a fan. Even when he was at Chelsea I didn't think he was much cop, so the fact that he's spent most of the last decade landing plum jobs has been a constant source of bewilderment to me.

Absolutely no idea how he'll get on at Leicester. If he's anything like he was a decade plus ago I should think that Foxes fans will probably find his tenure quite infuriating...

Such an odd appointment.

Out of all the managers that they could have appointed, they pick Ranieri.

He did alright at Monaco but the fight for the drop is fiercely competitive and other candidates have good managers who have proven they can work on a budget and keep a side up. It's not a bad appointment but I think he'll stay one season max.

I really hope he signs Samaras to add to Leicester's plethora of strikers from every corner of the globe. But yeah, agree with most that this is doomed to failure.

As MM has said, he done a good job at Monaco. They were well organized and hard to beat.
But this is a whole new challenge for him but I think overall it's a good appointment.

I think people are reading too much into Claudio's Greek disaster. Some managers are just not cut for international management. It really has nothing to do with club management. Some very good managers don't do that well (Capello).
Most of the work he did in Italy was ok while at Monaco he achieved more points in Ligue 1 than his successor Jardim (80 compared to 71). This will be however his first experience at the other end of the table. Could go horribly wong like 99.9% of you are predicting but it could go actually alright.
