Just popped on to West ham's forum ahead of our clash with them on Sunday, and got to wondering how they got their "Bubbles" anthem.

So, what is your club's anthem and why?

And what other club's anthem do you like/dislike?

Ours is "Drink up Thy Zider" ( Wembley officials take note!) - not totally sure why, but obvious Wurzels connection.

Hate Rover's "Goodnight Irene" - no need to give a reason why.

Last Waltz is ace. Remember being in the Gills end at Port Vale about 5-6 years ago, and at 3-1 up they were all singing it! I didnt realise it was their anthem at the time and wondered why the hell any football fan was singing the Last Waltz! It works though!

I like the Last Waltz, although quite a few of our fans think it's a bit of a dirge. It does sound pretty impressive with a couple of thousand Gills belting it out. Not sure why the refrain from Hey Jude is tacked on the end though.

The Wonder of You by Elvis, not sure how or why it was adopted but we've sang it for years.

Hate Delilah obviously.

The Chesterfield one I heard a couple of weeks ago at their place, decent song but the lass signing absolutely murdered it!

Agree with this. Needs a decent number to sing it, or it sounds shite.

Aslong as it involves Cider, it will be our anthem. The top one obviously has been ours for years!

How did this come up?Cause of Shrewsbury's game?

Yes mate, Shrewsbury were singing a chant to the tune of 'on top of old smokey' and because of their accents or whatever, Notts fans were laughing and decided to chant it back with what they thought were the words 'I had a wheelbarrow, the wheel fell off' and I think we came from behind to then win the game (not sure on that part but we definitely won it after we'd started chanting it) so then they decided to chant it the next week as a laugh when we needed a goal and it bizarrely stuck ever since. It's great though, I've met people all over and as soon as you mention Notts they talk about the chant rather than the oldest club or Juve or Sven stuff. I think a couple of other clubs adopted it too, Queen of the South being one (I have no idea how haha).

That's the true story. The less told one was because Tommy Johnson said it in an interview but pretty much every middle-aged Notts fan says I was there at Shrewsbury when we probably only took like 400 or whatever. I'm 90% sure my Dad and Uncle actually were there though.

Didn't push for the winner? No ambition Warnock.

Found the team that day.
1. Steve Cherry
2. David Norton
3. Nicky Platnauer
4. Craig Short
5. Dean Yates
6. Phil Robinson
7. Gary Lund
8. Phil Turner
9. Kevin Bartlett
10. Dean Thomas *
11. Tommy Johnson
Sub: Charlie Palmer *34

Not bad that for 3rd tier stuff, no wonder we got promoted 2 years on the trot...and then I was born in 92 just as we got relegated from top flight football and it's been 99% shit ever since.

We walk out to - 'One for the Bristol City,' and I've got to be honest, I do find it quite cringey.

We have been singing the Last Waltz since the late sixties/early seventies I believe.
Don't know exactly how it started but I really like it and it is ours.
