The fifth tier of the football league beckons!

Hoping Whitehawk don't get the result they had against us earlier in the season.

Would prefer BWFC over Hawkwind in the playoffs anyway for what it's worth. All the better if their fanbase can grow; there isn't hope for the other team's.

It's a dark day for football if either of them go up to be fair.

A bit harsh Paddy; don't know much about the Brighton side, but I'd love to see Wood there after years in the Isthmian league etc.

Borehamwood or Whitehawk. Like asking which bollock you want kicking first.

How's that? Thought we'd lost any reputation we once had (when I lived there 20 odd years back)

Please enlighten me with respect to your hostility.

Where are the 'shots' these days?

Borehamwood seem to have plenty of mongs that tag along giving it Green Street. Whitehawk are just another monied club with 200 crowds buying success, so don't care much for either club really.
Shots are bumbling along in the division these two non-entities aspire to.

Not really harsh if you were at the Isthmian Premier Play off final where Boreham Wood got promoted to the Conference South

As I also support a team with Conference playoff aspirations (don't laugh, we've been decent for two seasons despite our attendances and financial clout), I know we're gonna be in here a long time and may as well suck it up until we either haemmorhage support or strike oil. There are several other ex-league teams with similar crowds who are still smaller than a few in this league, and have budgets dwarfed by the bankrolled few. The 21st century Conference has an interesting outlook with the odd biggun (Oxford United, Luton, Tranmere...) among the chancers. At least it's a new ground to tick off personally, and hopefully a good chance at six points.

Anyway, I have to digress because I only came back into this thread to remind everyone of the timeless "Boreham Wood FC Replies to Laughable Accusation" article: http://www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.uk/boreham-wood-fc-replies-to-laughable-accusation/

Can't help it being my home town; 'Green Street' is more than ironic if you knew the area.
Can't see how any 'mongs' not from the town would bother showing any alliance.

I take it you're referring to the incident where an idiot came onto the pitch and attacked one of the players?

Unfortunately, that is an embarassment that follows a lot of clubs. Apologies, but some of us from the town are almost human.

Wasn't aware of this situation; remember the game, we went a goal up and missed a penalty at their place- went to a shoot-out?
The article looks poor; English very bad if genuine. What was the outcome?

Christ I hope neither of these two are on our fixture list next year. Though if we do stay down, I'm sure Boreham Woods top hooligans will be made very welcome here...

Good luck today, it will be nice to see another club reach this level for the first time. Not sure why so many on here, especially fans of ex-league clubs, constantly feel the need to put smaller clubs down.

I'm sure when Grimsby (for example) were in the Championship, they didn't like getting similar treatment from much bigger clubs who thought they were tinpot and had no fans. It's all relative.

I hope Boreham Wood go up. They would be better than Whitehawk.

We have always been one of the most unfashionable teams in the country, and were referred to as 'the likes of Grimsby' so many times by managers/chairmen/pundits attempting to describe the absolute worst that we started to quite enjoy it. There's even a dedicated page on the fishy, chronicling the times we've been mentioned (mostly unfavourably) in popular culture.
It's actually a lot more fun being the small team batting above your weight than the big fish in a small pond.

Difference is, we didn't spend copious amounts of money doing it. Granted we tried to compete financially, but I think clubs resent the fact teams are coming up and taking the piss financially.

Teams put us down in the Championship but back then you sensed a bit of respect in it all, I sense no respect for clubs like FGR, Eastleigh, Fleetwood, Crawley etc.

Is it? Can't say I know of many clubs that have a problem with fans attacking players.

I think it was a one off? If it was something that happened with any regularity, we'd know about it?

Hoping for Whitehawk win personally, for reasons mentioned in the Conference South thread.

Completely different landscape back then. No internet forums back in the 90s really, for one thing. Was way more possible to be there on merit too. Have always felt that the vast majority of second tier clubs are more bothered about their 'not being in the top tier inferiority complexes' to really care about such tinpot issues as tinpottery. That doesn't really rear its head until you're in the lower clutches of League One, in my opinion.

& the incident after the game where your 'fans' pitch invaded, but not to celebrate with the Boreham Wood players, but yo bypass them to come & start fights with us.

But yeah, I'm glad you can admit they are an embarrassment... unlike other Boreham Wood fans I've spoken too.

0–0 so far. Whitehawk are a bit special in that they don't have an official Twitter feed, but this is their main one:
