We’ve made our first signing, Josh Staunton from Halifax. Any good?

A lot of our fans loved him, but I thought he was poor to be honest. He struggled in the air as a centre half and played the majority of the season as a central midfielder.

and he looked... exactly like a central defender in midfield. Worked hard, but generally just ran around a lot - positionally terrible and poor on the ball. Also got a leg breaking red in him.

There’s clearly potential in there as a centre half and he’s a nice lad, so hope it works out for him.

Interesting. I saw some stats about him yesterday that he was in the top 10 players for total interceptions last season & in the top 20 when it came to aerial duels in his own area. Also blocked 21 shots. Sounds like a hard worker if nothing else.

York have signed Michael Duckworth from Halifax, Very happy with this too good for this level.
Also Kieron Kennedy from Port Vale, never heard of him Wrexham and Macclesfield fans they any good?
Kennedy is an unbelievable signing at NLN level. I was hoping he would sign on with us but it sounds like we have dithered too much over that one.

He's also a very nice bloke.

Absolutely a hard worker.
If he’s only expected to break up play then it could work. Issue for us was that we tended to have too little quality in midfield so had to bypass it. If you’ve got some quality around him and he’s just got to break it up and lay off 10 yards, could work really well

Yeah don't play Staunton at CB. He played CB against us when we gave them a Boxing Day walloping! ;)

To be confirmed this evening but given the teaser, pretty clear we’re signing Jake Hyde.

Instinctively feels a very good signing!

Barnet, York, Woking fans?

I don’t think you’d want to see anything on our forum about Jake Hyde,I’d stick to Other clubs.
The original sick note but is quick,or least he was at Dagenham away in year we went done,at the end of game he sprinted off pitch to over our fans anger.rest stayed and apologised. In his 3 years he hardly played and all 3 manager fell out with him.
Hope for yourself he has changed.

Based on twitter, Woking fans seem gutted to lose him. Nice to sign a player that opposition fans rate for a change

Good all round forward who holds the ball up well and is a good finisher. Very injury prone though, his spells at York and Stevenage after leaving us were disastrous, and he looked a shadow of his former self at Maidenhead but really seemed to turn things round in his two years at Woking, I think his tally there last season was a personal best for him even with the cancelled games.

He can't play on 3G unfortunately but when available he's a useful versatile forward.

Yeah, he was decent for us in his two spells. He’s quite decent technically but has some prowess in the air. He is a bit fragile though.

Woking sign winger John Goddard from Ebbsfleet and forward Connor Hall from Bolton.

The Jordan Williams deal is finally confirmed as he joins for an undisclosed fee from Fylde.

They are definitely not Big Spending Stockport so stop saying they are.

They’ve paid an absolute fortune for Williams, so I’m told. We’ve taken enough players off them in the past so only fair really

I don't know much about Williams but we needed a winger.

Hopefully he fits into what we're building here.

I think we had to pay a fee because the Nyal Bell to Fylde loan hit a snag. Fylde reckon that could still happen. It makes sense to me because we'll work of a smallish squad base of 18-19 and supplement with a couple of loans. Bell possibly too far down the pecking order.

Like I say elsewhere, very happy with the Williams signing, now for a right back and a no.8 and the squad should be pretty well rounded
I love the old ‘Stockport have a modest budget’ joke. Gets me every time!
Dunno what Stocky's on, it's impossible to know publicly what every team is on but I'd be surprised if we don't have one of the highest budgets in the division. Some of our signings this summer could do a job a division higher, you don't sign players like that on a pittance, no matter how enticing it must be to play in front of The World Famous Cheadle End

My eyes are watering at just how much Wrexham must be paying. This individual will certainly not have come cheap.

We've got a strong budget but there is no way we'll be in the top 2 or 3 come first kick of the football.

Notts County have an actual Dutch person playing for them. They don't come cheap.

I know what he’s on....the wind up.

Add a right-sided attacker and another striker if Bell goes to the right back and the central midfielder and we’re good to go.

Don't see us getting another striker. There's no point having loads of players hanging around not in a matchday squad. That will be why we offered out Bell to a club for a season who will pay all his wages.

We need 18-19 players who we can supplement throughout the season with a few clever loans to freshen up or resolve injuries.. Gannon prefers a small squad to implement the style and culture he's built.

I'd like another wide attacker (preferably left footed for some variety- what's Danny Lloyd's plan?), back up box to box midfield player and some good competition for Hinchliffe in goal.

My only question would be why have we signed Bell to a one-year new deal but now we are happy to loan him out for the whole of that deal?

Lloyd must be off the table as Williams is a very similar player.

But but but but they were only part time last season. It’ll take a decade to reach the mammoth that is our budget for next season.

Sometimes you don't know exactly who you can bring in. Even more so this summer. We did the sensible thing, covered ourselves. As it looks at the moment, Bell would struggle to get on the bench. Don't forget in the National League the window never shuts, we could bring another forward in further down the line if we feel we're lacking. We don't want loads of players sat in the stands doing nothing.

Lloyd maybe similar to Williams, I don't know Williams enough but we need a winger for both sides. Two tricky wing options helps the balance of the team.
