Ebola was all over the news daily and dealt with. A couple of the biggest selling songs ever are literally about millions dying of starvation. Also, last evidence based research found no evidence of being able to catch starvation. It is not a load of nonsense. Our league title is at stake for starters.

Ebola didn’t spread around the globe and was relatively contained! It wasn’t easy to catch for starters as it was from bodily fluids.

My point was that both had been around and happening for much longer and killed many more before it became news.

Everyone’s getting in a flap about a bloody dolled up cold.

Rumours flying around that today the government will announce all PL and EFL games to be played behind closed doors. I know this is only rumours, but there is a political wave building up. Cannot see us getting to our biggest gate of the year Monday week.

Putting it into perspective, Angela Merkle has been advised and this advised 60-70% of German population is the likely virus rate... so that is around 50 Million Germans, lets go with the lower end of the death rate which is 2% (but around 6% in Italy) that 1 Million German dead, base that % on other big Euro nations, UK around 800k dead, France 800k dead Spain around 400k...

That would be the best case scenario if the German's official line is correct and a vaccine isn't available quickly.

The games this weekend will either be P-P or behind closed doors I expect.

Will be interesting if they do!

Are the broadcasters putting fake fan noise on these behind closed door games? Swear I could hear a drum on the Valencia v Atalanta highlights.

Cheers mate, we’re downing tools on the children’s ICU I work on as we speak. Just a few Kleenex and Vicks should do it instead.

Don’t go into public health as a job. Getting in a flap about it is kinda the whole point. You should be thankful rather than bitter that it’s news now and not further down the line.

Note to self; remind African nations to stop getting in a flap about having dolled up shits.

similar to PSG last night, there was a large group of fans outside the ground, so probably came from there.

In times like this it’s important that everyone puts the good of the country ahead of being selfish pricks. So if that means just accepting that the season should be abandoned ASAP and promotion/relegation isn’t happening then so be it.

It's a fair enough sentiment but on the other side of the coin we may never get a better chance to be rid of Stevenage.

The other thing is, I've heard people say that outside spaces aren't where the virus is most likely to be transmitted, so if music festivals and football matches and the like are cancelled and everyone just piles down the shops instead then there may be no benefit.

Indeed, there will be more people visiting Trafford Shopping Centre this Saturday than go to Salford's ground over the next few years!

Yes but shops will probably be shut soon as well, like in Italy. Schools, pubs etc too.

What actually happens if the season is cancelled this late though? The only other example is before the 2nd world war but that was September?

Is the season still written off? If not cool if you’re lucky enough to be in the promotion spots but what happens if you’re in the playoffs.

Not that I can see any of it happening

As soon as a league 2 player or official tests positive it’s goodnight imo.

Bury get reinstated. The Cowleys go back to Lincoln. Sunderland Till I Die series 3 footage destroyed. Mansfield start the season expecting to go up as champions.

As much as I’d go for that, it is hugely unfair to end a season on a ‘where you are is where you stay’ basis. If you’re 4th on goal difference that club would, rightly, kick up an almighty stink.

The remaining fixtures have to be fulfilled - whether behind closed doors or not. You cant just write off an 80% completed competition.

Serie A and La Liga suspended. McLaren pull out of Ozzie GP which is now in serious doubt, NBA suspended.

Not long till it starts happening here.

Brexit and the Tories are rent free in your head. Superb.
Okay I've Googled this and it appears you're trying to say that I talk/think about this a lot? I last mentioned the Tories on here before this thread in June...2017. Brexit once in September but as a reference to Morecambe's rubbish half time snacks and then actually genuinely within a political context back in June 2018.

How can leagues be suspended? By the time games can be resurrected every club will have players out of contract. Matches have to be fulfilled with the squads as they were when games were stopped.

Our players have downed tools pretty much all season anyway, so wouldn’t really affect us
