This virus really is the perfect time to re-evaluate and re-rank the entirety of the football pyramid and place everyone exactly where they should be, based on historical performance.

I'm all for that as it would put Southport back in the Football League, and if phoenix clubs aren't permitted then Barrow would end up promoted too.

There's a number of defunct sides in there that need deducting from it like Bury, Chester, Halifax, Darlington etc. This would mean currently 95th placed Barrow would therefore probably secure a relegation threatened position in League Two.

Not sure about it.

Wouldn't we then also have to remove Bristol City and Middlesbrough? Not sure if there are any other league sides who reformed?

And obviously MK Dons need to go.

Which way do you think Notts County will vote if the options now are: null and void; one club promoted on PPG and no relegation; or promotion/relegation based on PPG?
No idea - I think null and void is the fairest of those, but not sure which way the club would lean. It looks like we’re pushing for some kind of play-off if/when it’s possible, but who knows if that’ll even be on the table.

Yep, as previously stated the only fair way to proceed is to put everybody into their place according to this table:

http://www.rsssf.com/tablese/engprof-alltime.html
One or two anomalies though. I wouldn't count the phoenix/reformed clubs (Aldershot, Darlo or Halifax).Accrington Stanley haven't been back in the FL for long enough.Bury and Gateshead wouldn't make it for obvious reasons, and definitely not Franchise, as there hasn't been a FL team in Milton Keynes for 42 seasons. By my reckoning that takes us down to Workington in 99th or Barnet in 100th, depending how you class Bradford PA.

EDIT; Forgot about Chester

Why January? Have the NL had discussions with the government on when games will be allowed or are they just guessing?

What form that's going to take we don't know yet. Ireland for example have already implied that mass gatherings under 5,000 will be allowed.

I genuinely think they are just guessing. They might be right, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
With how easily this virus spreads, letting thousands of people into stadiums where its not possible to enforce social distancing would be a disaster. Specially when you considering the amount of old and at risk people who go to these games.

Unless they made everyone wear masks, I just can't see fans being allowed into stadiums anytime soon.

We're still in a state of ambiguity, our vote to end the season wasn't meant to be circulated to the wider audience but then a tinpot podcast with a former board of director happened and here we are...

Of course I'm biased, I think the season should now be declared on PPG and with the financial clout that York have at their disposal then that is merely a benefit for clubs like ourselves whereby I'd hope we were promoted.

Well that's not exactly a hard one.

Brother York = Proper club
Kings Lynn = bankrolled shite by a Dracula looking weirdo

Also King's Lynn is in the arse end of nowhere. No one wants to go there, send York up.

The sound of a miliionaires daddy's boy starting to realise money can't buys it's way around a pandemic. Unfortunately for Simon it also says that a set and agreed number of games also has to be played.

Steads two year deal on £2,500 a week looking even more value for money now.....

given that Barrow's average wage was around £750/£800 a week it means he was on far more than Quigley and Rooney combined...

Wow, that is crazy indeed. Especially as he hasn't exactly set the world alight, as predicted by a few. VFM eh.
Welcome to the world that is htfc. Where five figure transfer fees are paid for a forward after football has been postponed for a pandemic.
It wouldn't be so bad were it not for the big debts every year that effectively meant the club was being used as a vehicle to right off tax bills on a multi million pound house building company.
Seeing the club trying to go all #inittogether and clapping the nhs, serenading the nearby hospital with music on the pa during the Thursday applause, has me reaching for the sick bucket, knowing how much the state and therefore the NHS are missing out on tax revenue.
Says a lot about this nation.

He's presenting his opinion as fact again. There's going to be a vote. Why exactly is he convinced that every other chairman thinks the same as him?

I'm not hugely familiar with goings on at Harrogate but from the outside looking in the guy appears to be full of shit.

From a cringe laden watch of the BT sport managers programme you get a very good idea of what you correctly call out.
A family who've ridden a property bubble of epic proportions, where any house builder has made obscene levels of profit for helping inflate the bubble.
This aggrandisement of their own abilities and importance off the back of this has been seen time and again. Running up half million pound annual debts at a non league club means they also have mastered football and hence what you say.
When in fact they haven't got a clue about what most clubs have to go through.

I once thought that too, but respect to the guy, he's proving to be a more than capable coach. Sure, a big budget, but his team isn't exactly brimming with the cream of non league and lower Football League- a couple of his players couldn't cut it at The Shay and most of the rest are very ordinary. He's a good manager and i think his team is probably the best in the division. I've been saying it all season too. :ds:

Yeah jack Muldoon, a host of expensive ex league players signed last summer, many of which have followed the long trodden path of not offering any return on big wages. Stead earning as much as the prime minister playing in front of 1200 off the bench.
Credit where it is due for players like Burrell and Belshaws development but let's face it having 8 seasons and big budgets to get it right isn't exactly in the norms of the game is it.
Credit should be given to Paul Thirwell, even on the BT documentary you could see he was core to the success. A success at a wholly unsustainable cost

it's highly likely that no more football at any level will be played this season - but that the PL will expand to 22 teams next season - so promotion, but no relegation - partly because the PL could let Sky/BT show more games with increased team numbers - to avoid paying back millions in tv money.

that would filter down the leagues in one of 2 ways;-

1) IF the NL don't get their act together it will end up with team numbers as follows - PL (22) Champ (24) Div 1 (24) Div 2 (22)
2) IF the NL do get their act together - PL (22) Champ (24) Div 1 (24) Div 2 (24)

and by get their act together I mean decide on the final league table. IF the NL is voided there will be no basis to promote teams and the EFL will follow it's own rules and invite 1 club (probably us) to make up the numbers. IF however the NL table is agreed on PPG - either over total games or with separate home and away PPG then the EFL would most likely take the top 3 teams from the NL to keep Division 2 at 24 teams.
Clubs like Notts County will need to be very careful how they vote because in the end they could cost themselves a place in the league by being pigheaded.

There are tourist areas in Hartlepool? Is there perhaps a museum where one may view the scaffold they hung the monkey on? Or a mock up of the shipwreck in the bay? God knows there's nothing else I could think of to go to Hartlepool for outside of the football season. :ds:
Isn't there a Nuclear Power station one could visit?

To be fair it's not just you though - Solihull signed Adam Rooney from Salford the day before your match with them was postponed.

Pretty sure Sky have said they're not going to ask for any TV money back, but that'll equate to extra games/more access to make it back up further down the line.
