Any of the sides in the non league playoff mix would've done better in the league than Stevenage did, they were an embarrassment this season. I've only really been an in-depth follower of L2 since we were relegated there in 2009, but they were comfortably the worst I've seen, even worse than Darlington in that 09-10 season. Stinks how they can survive and I feel for the likes of Harrogate, Notts and Yeovil whose seasons have been all for nothing now.

Is promotion/relegation between the EFL and NL not mutually agreed between the two leagues? Is the EFL allowed to act unilaterally?

You’d have thought. But who’s going to challenge it?

Are the sides in the playoffs in the conference going to team up and take the EFL to court? Can’t see it happening.

If they had a sound reason to do so and did take them to court then fair play.

No-one will, it seems none of those clubs even care about the fact they've spent money this season to get themselves into a possible promotion position.

Saying that, Yeovil & Notts County will be getting a nice £250k from the EFL this summer for doing zilch so maybe that's why they don't want to rock the boat too much if it's going to be fruitless.

We will be back to the days of 1 from up from here soon enough if this is passed without so much as a crossed word.

Fuck me is it really that hard for one of the goons who were actually in this meeting to report what was ACTUALLY agreed. Were any of them even listening? Heard about 300 different versions of the meeting so far.

People are making the point that if there’s relegation from the PL, there should be relegation from the EFL, but isn’t that contingent on completing the PL fixtures in some way?

I told you all weeks ago it would be Barrow up to replace Bury and they would save Stevenage rendering Play Offs down here meaningless.

Lets focus on getting clubs in order for August IMO. And yes, we should be playing with crowds in August from the opening day, if they're cracking open shopping centres in July than 3/4/5'000 should be allowed at Edgeley Park to watch a game.

There won't be relegation from the Premier League. West Brom and Leeds will be paid off with the money that should have been parachuted to the 3 relegated teams in 20/21.

Why are they on about playing matches then?

If you're Norwich (or any team not going for Europe) then you give the laundry ladies a game for the rest of the season in that case. There has to be relegations for it all to work, unless they decide to permanently expand the PL back to 22 teams like it used to be (do not rule this out).

I said over a decade in an earlier post, I hadn't realised Stevenage had a worse PPG than Darlington.

They are the worst fourth tier team on PPG since Doncaster 1997-98.

Do they have to team up? All it takes is for the NL to decide the playoffs are happening and then any one of them can challenge.

True but hosting those games is going to cost money....

presumably Harrogate and county would be at home, so they’d need to pay for all the testing etc to be played infront of an empty stadium to then play the final at a venue - would clearly be no point in playing it at Wembley - again with the costs on the pretty safe assumption you wouldn’t go up!? Nah I just can’t see it

The teams at the bottom will play the Corona card. Brighton are already playing it. As soon as a couple get tested "positive" it will be seen as morally wrong to relegate teams when they've got players missing from Coronavirus. The bottom teams know exactly what they're doing.

Funnily enough, if a new season re-started in August, I would strike a bet that a lot of these teams and their players will be fit as fiddles again and that any Coronavirus symptoms will be swept under the carpet in the battle for "3 precious Barclays points". 99% of young, fit people have little to no symptoms if they get the virus.

When the Corona cap fits, they will wear it. We're seeing it in society all the time.

Yeah, as has been said, no point in playing any more games in that case. It would render most of the games meaningless.

Are you saying clubs will say their players are infected when they aren’t?

Brighton know exactly how tough their remaining fixtures are, that's all he's saying.

I would not be surprised if clubs are making it up but how do you prove otherwise? Seen it going on in many workplaces "oh, I'm off on the sick, I'm self-isolating, I've been SHOWING SYMPTOMS". How do you police it?

I think when it suits they'll happy to mention players with 'symptoms', yes.

Come a fresh season when he PL tv money is rolling in, that little cough their reserve right back had won't be such a big issue.

It was just one player last week.

The other 2 that they talked about was from a previous time.

Think the reporting was mis leading.

Exactly. If you have a fuzzy head, you could have the Coronavirus. You could also have a slight bout of hayfever. Or slep badly the night before. Or not drank enough water. 'Showing Symptoms' is something that is used and abused and will be used and abused in football, day to day life for months. Only when it suits.

If that’s the case you may as well forget about football until everyone is vaccinated.

I think clubs will have to start producing positive test results to get games called off.

Well you know what "Grinds my gears???" this statement

"Clubs asked for consideration to be given to suspending relegation to the National League for 2019-20 as a result of circumstances created where fixtures cannot be completed," said the EFL in a statement."

Thats exactly why relegation should take place, for the same reasob that NL sides should be promoted.

No because when it's a fresh season and relegation isnt as immediate a threat, they'll all want to play to ensure they dont miss out on any TV money.

And it goes for the players as well, they all say they don't want to play. If that's the case there will have to be major, major pay cuts in what is a very short career.

Phrased like that, it certainly doesn't sound like a done deal.

Of course the clubs want relegation off the table, but the league will understand the rules better than they do.

So League 2 teams say they want promotion and no relegation - would anyone have expected any different? EFL and FA still have to ratify it, so nothing is sorted other than they have confirmation on what their members want.

BUT if they blocked relegation and no promotion, I'd feel a bit pissed off - only because they're happy enough to keep promotion in the three divisions above.

If Brighton wanted to use the "fake corona case" card, surely they wouldn't blow it now when there's no football? Fucking bullshit, mate.
Lets see.

The 19/20 in the Premier League won't re-start with the possibility of relegation.
