You can tell how relieved Evatt is though, Barrow's arse was nipping at the top, wobbly form, turned over by Notts in their last game, Quigley suspended for the next three, an away trip to Harrogate to come, they were bottling it, big Steve Dale fan!

Suicide rate is up in the under 25's (and probably across the board). It was already at a jaw dropping and worrying figure before all this started. Not a fucking word in the media. Main story yesterday was about a 101 year old man dying. Rest in peace to the man but he had a fair innings.

But it's all about the health of course with the fat couch potato from Harrogate.

Speaking of obesity, many coming to the conclusion (why it took them so long only God knows- carrying too much weight puts a massive strain on the immune system) that obesity contributes majorly to potential death and seveity of symptoms of Coronavirus and why UK and US has been so badly hit.

I'm never really in favour of closing things down. It's up to the individual what they want to do. I think the education and message of being overweight= bad for health is out there enough throughout schools and society in my experience. You can't draw the line at KFC and McDonalds and then keep selling similar rubbish in supermarkets. People are in charge of their own destiny in regards to most elements of health.

I'll give you another thing thats an absolute disaster for health, stress and anxiety. The silent killer. Extensive cortisol production will blunt the immune system and its speed of reaction.

There are lots and lots of negatives to keeping everybody couped up.

Those videos of our local branches were astounding, surely people can't be that desperate to queue up for over an hour for average food. You burp after you've finished eating that stuff and you're starving again.

There are plenty of issues like you say - but regulating unhealthy food could be an easy thing to do - cut the total calories in it - cut the salt content in the condiments etc.

Indeed, and I get that. It just feels a bit trying-too-hard to me, I think he knows that it was just starting to get a little bit tricky and closing up, and he (understandably) wants people to look at most of the season so far rather than that.

So what you are saying is that Evatt bioengineered the whole thing and framed China, maybe that explains the higher rate of infection in Barrow. Some of his samples got out.

Indeed. So much so he's even designed a trump card in his honour.

The only way barrow won’t come up is if the conference now decide to do some random playoffs involving the top 4/6 - a crackpot idea I wouldn’t put past the conference board.

IMO league 2 chairman were wrong to vote against relegation for Stevenage - they were absolutely rubbish - they’d lost 9 of the last 10 or so games.

If on the basis the EFL want to increase back to 72 - which obviously it will - it makes sense that barrow would come up.

I think the PPG rationale in league 2 is better than just scrubbing the season off like they’ve done in the conference, but then again that’s been compromised by removing relegation.

What I don't get is why any of the Top 7 in League Two would vote to reprieve Stevenage. They all have a shot at promotion (if a playoff goes ahead) but you can guarantee that Tranmere, Bolton and Southend would rightly start kicking off if they were relegated under the exact same pretences.

Well it could be a case that league 2 clubs over ruled by The championship clubs anyway, who’ll be worried that the premiership will just do what league 2 has done - which would be fair enough.

If a league has promotion from it this season it then should also have relegation

Anything’s better than some soulless shithole down south, no-one eyes up trips to Stevenage and MK and go “oh goody I can’t wait to go there)

*i do also appreciate not many would probably get excited about Mansfield either, but you get my point.

Much as I dislike Stevenage, there is no reason why they’re not ‘a proper club’ in comparison to Barrow - they have a better ground, bigger attendances for the last 25 years and they’ve been far more successful than Barrow in the last 25 years too. It’s not even as if Barrow have had several near-misses in getting back into the Football League since they were elected out of it in 1971 either.

Barrow were here for 4/5 seasons we were in the conference, we all used to go for the weekend, and will be doing so again if they come up and we get them on a Saturday.

Whereas barrow is er, interesting it was cheap and the locals were nice

I hate Satanage. Always will. Unfortunately Barrow, who I have never had an opinion of prior to the last few weeks, are rapidly going down in most football fans' estimations. I'm past caring if we could go up, I just wish everyone could act with a bit of decorum.

An article in The Athletic has heavily hinted Championship clubs are incensed by what League Two clubs have voted for given their own delicate situation with the Premier League, and fear if this is allowed to go ahead, then a precedent will be set.

Can't for the life of me see why anyone would want to reprieve Stevenage. I highly doubt Wallace is handing envelopes of cash in the post to other Chairmen so what's the reason? An easy 6 points next season? Helping an old mate out? (I believe Wallace is one of the more popular owners amongst the moderate owners in the EFL) A desire from lesser clubs not to have a bankrolled team like Harrogate/Boreham Wood or a well backed team like Notts County in the league next season for fear it'd push two lesser lights towards the trapdoor? Because I genuinely can't see a reason other than those to reprieve them. Wallace claims their relegation would be "unjustified" which is hilarious. Statistically, even if you allow PPG to complete the season for them, they've been the worst side in the fourth tier in the 21st century, even worse than the pathetic York and Dagenham sides a few years back.

The worst thing is, I seriously believe the entire Top 7 would have voted to keep Stevenage in the league. I could probably have an educated guess of the clubs who voted to relegate Stevenage. Macclesfield (obvious reasons), Oldham (a lot of bad blood between Maamria, who would've heavily influenced his mate Lemsagam who owns Oldham, and Stevenage) and Forest Green (Dale Vince has publicly said that Stevenage should be relegated) would've more than likely been three of them. It's also likely, but I'm less sure, that the fourth club was Salford, as I can tell from his many interviews during this period that Neville believes promotion and relegation must be continuous throughout the pyramid.

I believe the vast majority of L2 fans are incensed by this unexpected (although our manager had heavily hinted they'd be reprieved) large majority to reprieve Stevenage, and I hope the right thing is done on Monday and that they're relegated. However, another reason as to why owners may want to save them is that they're actually a well run club compared to some. There's a very high chance Macclesfield could be kicked out of the league owing to their many financial transgressions this season. And maybe they're going to allow Stevenage to stay up and the NL to still hold playoffs as an insurance policy when Macclesfield inevitably resign from the league, so they can still have an even number of clubs next season. Without a bailout, and I'm sure there won't be one, I can't possibly see Macclesfield surviving this crisis.

Decorum goes out of the window when this could be very very big for an area like Barrow. The "40 mile cul-de-sac" could receive a large boost from being a Football League club with the economic benefits and the prominence into wider society that it brings. Ian Evatt also wants it on his CV as you can tell he's an ambitious manager and he'll more than likely have his suitors if he got off to a decent start in League Two with them.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but I can perfectly see why they're acting like they are. It really is momentous for an isolated community like that to have a league club. Particularly after how they were robbed of their status in 1972 owing to a combination of geographical isolation, a speedway track around the pitch and Hereford's famous FA Cup run and big crowds. More so than a bog standard forgettable New Town club just outside of London or a bankrolled hobby club are.

Other than the Bury comments, which I agree are a bit controversial, what else have we done, other than pushing for the prevention of wasted efforts, which also includes clubs in and around us that have also had good seasons to date?

If you are going to promote from this league there has to be two clubs going up, otherwise its a technicality and making up numbers. You can't promote and not relegate throughout the pyramid, as someone said above.

Agree. The alternative to Barrow going up involves far less class and decorum (on the EFL's part)

Hopefully, re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic methinks. If there are the expected bankruptcies amongst the EFL clubs, we may well have regionalisation , combining the survivors of the lower reaches of the football league, and remnants of Conf .prem, North and South. So this torturous promotion argument would be wasted breath. Something has to change, will the authorities have the balls to go for anything radical?

I only expect Macclesfield to go (and they've been on death's door for ages!) and that'll be it.

A lot of talk has been about worst case scenarios for leagues and clubs and the media have sensationalised it or fabricated elements of it.

If the reproduction rate goes down, there's every chance we could have fans in grounds by as early as the Autumn. If we get a second wave? There'll be no football, obviously. It's early days yet. But the BBC kept saying 40 clubs would go bust when ITV Digital died, none did. Calls for regionalisation were resisted by the people who matter. Semi-professionalism of Leagues 1 and 2 never happened.

All this doomsday talk and radical proposals always come out when football has a funding crisis. How about we cut ridiculous player wages over the next two seasons and then budget according to fixed revenue and none of the speculated revenue that sees clubs go sky high with their projections and then end up in the red. A far better idea than regionalisation ever will be.

I dare say if you’re going to see bankruptcies in the EFL they’re more likely to come from the championship than league 2 (though obviously macc don’t look good right now)

They’d be absolutely no desire whatsoever to incorporate the conference into the league, I had 5 years of us playing sides I’d never heard of in the conference, and don’t wish to do so again.

Also, in a hypothetical situation where you had a league 2/conference north/south you’d only have 2 promotion spaces from each league which is far from ideal, and the potential of someone coming down from league 1 like Bolton playing the winner of the conference north!

Horrid idea.

L2 and the NL should definitely combine and regionalise with six down each year and three up from Conf North and South.
The costs of travel and accommodation in both National League and L2 are ridiculous. Notts are lucky, we're in the middle of the country with a decent fan base but these two divisions are made up of small towns on the edges of the country to a large degree.
Hartlepool to Yeovil, Dover to Barrow are just pointless fixtures at these levels.
I've been to three out of four, and they're a fair trek from Nottingham, never mind from each other.
