After a much improved performance midweek, I hope that we can carry on from where we left off against Portsmouth. Imagine Ben Stevenson will keep his place whilst Ricketts might be replaced if we get one of these two centre backs over the line.

Team:

Charles-Cook

Willis Ojala/Ricketts Harries

Rose Stevenson Gadzhev Haynes

Jones Sordell Reid

Prediction:

Cov 2-0

Town have injury doubts over Leitch-Smith, Dodds and Whalley ahead of this game after the win over a pretty much full strength Huddersfield side on Tuesday. Sky Blue old boys Deegan and O'Brien should start having started both games so far.

So far we have looked reasonably solid in open play but rather suspect against the high ball into our box from set plays.

Ivan Toney, with his strength and pace, provides a different sort of option going forward to what we had in the Franchise game and Mellon is hopeful of signing more forwards tomorrow.

It's difficult to imagine we could play as badly on Saturday as we did at The Ricoh last season.

Looks like going to miss this one. Now admittidely I should have sorted this out earlier, but I've just realised the away end is all ticket and tickets go off sale at 1pm tomorrow, seeing as I work 8-5 weekdays there's no chance I can get a ticket, making this all ticket is a ridiculous decision and will certainly effect the following.

As for the game, avoiding defeat would be a good result, but at this stage its hard to judge how good or bad we are, i wouldn't be hugely surprised if we won 3-0, lost 3-0 or drew 3-3, its impossible to say at the moment.

O'Brien has looked decent so far and has some quality on the ball, so I'm hoping his return to Coventry will inspire a performance from him, I can't see us keeping many clean sheets this season so we'll be heavily relying on outscoring teams.

First have was completely onesided in favour of Coventry, fortunately Mellon changed formation at half time and made a couple of sub's to match up with Coventry, and credit to him for doing that because we were much much improved second half.

In the end I left feeling a little frustrated with a point, because the longer the game went on the more we started creating, however good Cov were first half we were certainly the stronger team in the second period and had the better chances.

Surprises the chap with the long hair went off as early as he did, seemed to be causing us problems. Coventry look significantly poorer then when I saw them play against us last season, but its early days.

Toney man of the match, superb upfront on his own, winning headers, holding the ball up, turning defenders with his pace occasionally and winning free kicks when he was isolated, he looked a right pain in the arse against three centre halves for most of the game.

First half we dominated, second half was scrappy from both teams which was largely due to the referee sabotaging the match

I'm afraid for me it was a typical example of a big club at home expecting every decision to go their way. Some of the easiest, most basic decisions the ref was giving were being booed by the home support and I was standing there thinking what on earth are you complaining about, this isn't me being bias as there's no reason to considering the result, but there was only one instance where I thought you deserved a free kick and the ref waved play on, the rest were spot on and I'd urge anyone who booed the ref to watch the full game back with a level head.

In actual fact, there was one scenario where one of your forwards went down, black lad upfront, one of the worst dives I've ever seen, a proper throw your arms up and drop to the ground like you've been shot kind of dive, very lucky he wasn't booked as it was verging on embarrassing.

Got nothing against Coventry fans as I've only ever had good experiences with them, but you really can't blame the ref for yesterday, you absolutely dominated us first half then we improved significantly second half, you can't blame your decline and our incline throughout the duration of the game on the officials.
