Tough game for us this. Colchester are the form team in League 2 and the way we've been defending recently they really should be giving us a hiding here.

In terms of the CUFC mini league, Carlisle are currently top but will be leapfrogged should Colchester as expected collect all 3 points. At the moment Carlisle are by far the worst team in this mini league so maintaining top spot will be a big ask.

CUFC mini league (as it stands)
1. Carlisle United - P3 W1 D1 L0 GF4 GA2 Pts 4
2. Colchester United - P3 W1 D0 L1 GF2 GA2 Pts 3
3. Cambridge United - P3 W0 D1 L1 GF2 GA4 Pts 1

To stand any chance of avoiding a good arse kicking we need to make changes to our defence, for starters Raynes/Brisley need separated and Gillesphey needs either to play centre back or not at all, he's awful at LB. I think we also need another midfielder whether that be Penn or a new signing. Since Jones has been out we've been getting overrun in what was the strongest area of our team earlier in the season.

I am going to this. God knows why as it's miles away and I am expected a thumping.

Colchester 4-0 Carlisle

I think you'll find we are the form team over the last 8 games,7 wins and a draw at Plymouth.

Yes we are in good form of late which has been culminated with the change of formation to 3/5/2. If garvan and Slater get time in midfield we can cause teams problems. Dickenson is a key man for you to shut down down the left as he has good pace and a great left foot. Our run is bound to come to end sooner or later so I will say 2-2 with ibhere scoring against his former team.

I know you're pessimistic, and I agree with you about the defence, but you'd think we were destined for relegation facing Barcelona going by your opening post!

I'm expecting a tough game against an in-form team, but the odds of us losing 4-0 are very minimal. We've rarely had a hiding under Curle, and I don't think we've lost 2 in a row since he arrived, so I expect a positive response.

Need defensive changes and probably a change in midfield, but I think we're capable of getting a point.

Maybe the 0 part is unlikely, but the 4 is very possible. I wasn't at Notts County but we sounded woeful defensively against them, conceding 2 after they'd not being able to buy a goal in games prior to that. I was at Crewe and they should have stuck 4 or 5 past us. Again yesterday the defence was all over the place again.

At the moment we gift teams between 4 and 6 easy chances per game. Grimsby punished our gifts and sooner or later a really good team is going to really put us to the sword unless we sort this back 4 out. I think Colchester will.

You're right we are def capable of getting a point, but if we continue playing the we we have been we won't.

We haven't lost 2 in a row this season or last, but in Curle's first season we lost about 4 in a row, but we really were shit then.

Hell Jeezus no way, I have brain cells

Hey long time no see! :bye:

Hello Cumberland Sausage and welcome to 1FF. You will like the Carlisle fanbase on here and although hellogregory can be a negative pain in the arse, he makes up for it by being a loyal supporter.

ShoddyCollins on the other hand, well, he is one good fella.

Oddly, according to experimental 3-6-1 we've finally started outcreating teams again, have stopped letting teams have so many good chances against us and have risen up its form table. From that perspective it looks like against Grimsby we just came up against a very good striker who doesn't necessarily need a lot of good chances in order to score a brace.

We're in great form with six wins from seven and naturally the mood has completely changed, but apart from winning away at Luton the rest of the results really are ones you'd like to think we would get anyway, on paper. This will be the biggest test so far, and we also have Exeter (A), Wycombe (H), Blackpool (A) and Barnet (H) coming up as four of the following five too, so now is the time where we can show if we're capable of a top seven finish or if we'll slip back into midtable obscurity.

Not really sure what to make of this one for that reason. We've got to lose sooner or later, but I'll go for Exeter away next week and say we'll get a draw here.

I agree with the Carlisle fans opening post!!!

Colchester are riding high and this should be a win as Carlisle head down to 8th-12th in the table - which would still be an incredibly good season for them.

It would be a decent season, but I wouldn't go as far as saying "incredibly good".

I actually think we'll make the playoffs. I didn't at the start of the season but I do now after the good first half we've had, despite our defensive frailties.

Stop poking the Carver, you know he rises to these things every single fucking time.

Can't believe HG believes finishing 12th would still be a decent season :ffs:

Seriously, the people I associate myself with here... glad cumberland sausage hotdog has turned up to add a notion of sanity.

Maybe that's not HG at all, because the HG we know would not class finishing anywhere below 1st and not playing like Barca as a decent season. His account could have been hacked and it's funny how is avatar has suddenly changed for the first time ever. :pond:

Unless he's trying some pathetic attempt at reverse psychology?

I would honestly bump everything down a notch, and that's not just from the start we've had but what I'd have said at the start of the season. 8-10 would have been average in my view. This is only our third season down here and as bad as the first of those was, we were handicapped by awful management. Since Curle has come in we've looked a lot more like I've always believed we should have been looking since we came down, that is being challengers for promotion.

My iphone is fucked so there'll be no halftime rants / damning full time reports from me tomorrow. It will have to wait until I get home tomorrow night. Sorry to disappoint.
