'We HAVE to qualify for Champions League no matter what.'
De Gea's contract runs out at the end of next season, however a new deal has yet to be agreed. I think he is Madrid bound this summer if United don't make CL, but definitely next summer even if they make it.

Him signing a new contract is all I care about. If we make the CL hopefully he'll sign and we can sell him for lots if he wants to leave. Don't make it and it looks like we're shipping on the cheap this summer.

To be fair, he's been Madrid bound for a while, and anyone who thinks otherwise is completely deluded. However, the new contract decides whether he goes cheap this summer, or for a fucktonne next.

But remember, this is 'Be as deluded as you possibly can'chester United we're talking about. You see, most of their 'fans' seem to believe their starting XI next season will include Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, etc. Matter of fact, most of their 'fans' are so out of touch with the club they 'support' that they still believe Beckham is playing for them.

Does 'Cash in hand'chester United care about their appalling fanbase? Of course not, as long as shirt sales stay high they'll keep fueling this delusion.

I think this is a great point. ;)

Looks like I was right. De Gea indeed has used Manchester United as a stepping stone like many others.

Though it's nice for the picture, Beckham didn't use Utd to get a Real move, Man Utd actively wanted to get rid of him, and he went there because they were the highest bidder, not because he had aspirations to play for them. He could just as easily have played for Barca.
RvN had also fallen out of favour somewhat as well and wasn't starting every match so he wanted out. If he'd been a regular starter (or as regular as previous seasons) he'd have stayed.
