Yes, I did just make two puns out of famous songs for Musicals. What are you going to do about it.

Had to get in here quick before any of you other wastemen.

No Evatt is a pain, but hopefully Raglan and Hird will cope. I'll go 3-1. O'Shea, Gardner & Novak and Madden for Scunny.

How has Mani's name appeared in a thread title? He does not deserve such an honour

Blimey - that's one random thread title.

So Scunthorpe. In a weekend of local derbies I guess this kinda counts but, well, nah. Scunny have always been one of those outfits that don't elicit any real emotion; we win some, they win some, no hoolie-thuggery to speak of...it's all pretty tame.

And tomorrow?

Y'know I remember 95', when an under-fire manager was forced to change his approach a couple of games before playing Scunny who then went down to a three-one defeat at Saltergate. Similarly the beleaguered Dean Saunders seems to've swapped things 'round since the Gillingham game and here we are again.

If Ebanks-Blake and Novak are in the mood, as they were on Tuesday, it could be deja-vu all over again...

PS: solidarity with the steelworkers facing redundancy. Seriously, my thoughts are with them.

Well, that was pretty great.

I would say both teams are quite evenly matched. At half time both teams probably should have scored at least one, Tommy Lee made a number of good saves to thwart us.

Sending off obviously changed the game, Daniel Jones costing you with a diabolical free-kick and then tripping McSheffrey up.

Great day.

Good to see Robins turning it around after a difficult start to the season, top manager!

Maybe not as evenly matched as you might think. I thought we had been poor in the first half, the best chance we had was SEB being put through and inexplicably trying to chip a 6'4" keeper who was still stood on his line. We were lucky to be at 0-0 at ht and the general consensus amongst our group was that it was a game we could well lose, and so it proved albeit with Scunny receiving an almighty leg up from the ref.

I hate going back over reffing decisions but Dan Jones shouldn't have been sent off. The Scunny player was running at an angle that took him somewhere between the post and corner flag and we must have had four players in the box, any of whom could have got a block in on any effort on the goal. So how a clear goalscoring opportunity had been denied, i really don't understand. Surely the award of a pen and yellow card is sufficient punishment.

McSheffrey's goal was a belter. The third summed up our day after a deflection beat Tommy.

Again Saunders will come in for some stick - i really don't understand what the tactics are and how it is we're trying to play, and i wonder whether the players do either. Evatt was missed, obviously, and Hird and Raglan just don't seem capable of keeping a clean sheet. Talbot doesn't look the player he once was, sadly, after his injuries. Herd had a poor game i thought, both he and Morsy being blunted by a first half booking (again).

As for Scunny i thought they were a physically big, fairly powerful unit who looked a bit more streetwise than last year's side. Not much flair or overt pace, but they did have a strength to their play which suggested some decent teamwork was in there somewhere. And a decent sized budget if you have proven quality like Rowe in the side.

All in all a pretty shit afternoon, followed by my little 'un spending the evening and night chucking her guts up, which is why i'm writing this tripe now.

Dodgy red, do all Scunny strikers taunt the home fans when they score?

Madden did so after the pen, looks like one spirite exploded on the highlights.

Winnall did the same at Spotland a couple of years ago, he didn't get to do it last season or this as he missed chance after chance

Lyle Taylor did it last season. Bit odd.
