First season up, £400k in the black. Second season up we lost around £800k, blamed partly on the collapse of the Doidge deal which would have netted us £1m (we carried on paying his wages and signed a couple of replacements).

19-20 well in the black according to Vince, which wouldn't be a shock given we got £250k from Hibs for Doidge, settled up with Bolton's new owners (6 figures apparently),got a reasonable amount at tribunal for Reece Brown from Huddersfield, got another 6 figures from Leeds promotion thanks to the Jordan Stevens add-ons and generally ran with a younger, cheaper squad. Also the Candriam deal seems to be pretty lucrative according to the club.

To be fair I’ll always stick up for FGR when comparisons are made to Salford, and Fleetwood - clubs that traditionally are not even close to the conference level like FGR and Crawley.

Tbf Vince always claimed when we were in the NL that we would be more sustainable in the league, most people thought he was talking bollocks but he seems to be right to a point. Helped by the fact our transfer policy has shifted to focus on signing mainly non-league or young players and selling them for a profit.

Not many of our players or staff are veggie or vegan, they can eat what they want. Some try it and like it, others don't but there is no obligation for them. Same as with fans, they are free to bring their own food if they want. The club just doesn't provide or sell any non vegan stuff.

Edit. Found it now. League 2 22-2 in favour, League 1 16-8.

So from now on teams like Watford and Bournemouth with £45m and £40m basic wage bills alone are going to be dropping into the Championship (and get parachute payments) while teams coming up into the Championship from league 1 are going to have entire squads built on a £2.5m budget.

Need to cap the Championship too I reckon.

Potentially, although most of L1 will be in and around the £2.5m mark anyway. It'll hit the Sunderland, Portsmouth, Ipswich types more and in that respect, you'd argue they could quite easily close that gap (not fully) anyway due to the size of the Club's.

The success of these caps will rely heavily on the Championship following suit with one of their own (the gap will still be massive, mind) and NL/NLN/NLS doing so as well - suggested at £900k/£600k/£600k.

Championship vote is planning on being next week.

EDIT - The tricky bit is that the cap includes not just wages, but agent fees, bonuses (excluding promotion and cup), image rights, NI & taxes.

Someone has told me that we were one of the two votes against, but no announcement from the club. Our Chairman had repeatedly said beforehand that he was against a salary cap.

nope - southend and anyone else relegated from L1 last season would count as L1.

Why would last years members vote on a salary cap for next season?

Surely now the line up for the divisions are known it would have been the 24 clubs due to play in next seasons leagues that would have voted?

I assumed that everyone who would be in L1 and L2 next season would get a vote rather than the teams from this season, therefore 24 votes in L1 rather than 23.

EDIT - That said, how does that fit with Macc/Stevenage?

PFA are a Union so unless the EFL have broken employment laws they are wasting there time.
They always have the option of striking,but thats a non starter in todays climate.
