The Road to the final in Baku starts here.

begins already in a few days with the preliminary round

Europa FC v Prishtina

What a club name: Europa FC :D

B36 Torshavn v St Joeseph`s

St. Joseph's? Sounds like the company team of the local hospital

Aberdeen (SCO) v Burnley (ENG)

This is for me the most interesting match in these qualifiers.

RB Leipzig (GER) v Liepāja (LVA) / Häcken (SWE)

The 2nd round already starts on July 26th. The Leipzig Officials surely hope that Germany, Sweden and Denmark won't get far in the World Cup so that Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg and Youssuf Poulsen (who has something of a nickname at this world cup) have some extra days of regeneration. Otherwise they have to play without them which is a bit risky because they can't afford it to lose and be out of the Europa League.

Rangers just gone 1-0 up on FK Skupi from Macedonia on BT Sport.

Good 1-0 win for Dundalk away at Levadia Tallinn

Hibs 3-0 up on 10 men KSI Renavik from Iceland within 30 minutes

Easy nights work for Hibs, puts no pressure on the second leg, Rangers were very pedestrian tonight but got the 2-0 win to take to Macedonia and should see it through now.

Today are the second legs :

Hoping to see both teams score at Shkupi - Rangers and Honved - Rabotnicki

Bulgarian team Levski is going to face Vaduz after disappointing first leg and 1-0 defeat
Something tells me that we won't see them through

By all accounts a largely uneventful 0-0 for Rangers tonight in Macedonia which secured safe passage to the next round. Was it shown on tv?

Yeah it was on Premier Sports, I've already got BT and Sky, forget that one as well!

Rangers have been pretty crap in the two games but got the job done unlike last year, still only early on in pre season for them and with new playing personnel and a new manager it might take time to gel. Expect they'll be playing the Croatian side next round which they should really be winning.

Osijek got to the play off round last year and beat PSV and are no mugs. Think Rangers would prefer to face the Moldovan debutants if given a choice

Tomorrow the 2nd round Qualifiers start and that's where Leipzig will start its 2018/2019 season. Against Swedish side BK Häcken from Göteborg. I don't know anything about them but I hope that Leipzig is ready. The Bundesliga starts in about a month so they're just at the beginning of the training.

Interesting is the scottish-english tie between Aberdeen and Burnley. I had to laugh when I read about it in another forum as a "battle of Britain" tie

oh ffs, mm. Don't be a nit picker. It's the military reference for a fucking football match that's so ridiculous for me here, not that "Scotland is (part of) Britain" ;)

Surprised nobody is televising Aberdeen v Burnley.

Aberdeen ahead at half time.

Elsewhere Hibs are 2-0 down at home to Asteras Tripolis.

Rangers lead away in Croatia against Osijek thanks to Morelos

Stiring come back from Hibs. 2-0 down with 64 played. They come roaring back to beat 10 men Tripolis 3-2

FT - Aberdeen 1-1 Burnley. Nicely in the balance ahead of the second league.

Decent result for Rangers too.

Dundalk end goaless at home to AEK Larnaca.

Big goal for Burnley that, I expect they'll see the job through at Turf Moor but their record in cup competitions over the last few years has been pretty shocking. Could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for Burnley fans to watch their club in Europe so they'll be hoping they treat it seriously.

Really good result for Rangers, looking far more solid but not quite clicking at the other end fully, they'll fancy their chances of seeing off the Croatians at Ibrox. Great turnaround from Hibernian also but that will still be a really big ask to go out to finish the job off in Greece.

And Rangers have decided to turn up..

Apparently Aberdeen didn't want any live TV coverage so they could get a decent crowd !

Before the Aberdeen game the Scottish news was interviewing Burnley fans bragging about how easy it would be and that Aberdeen was a League One Standard team.

Astonishing the ignorance and arrogance that prevails in the English game.

Also interesting to see Rangers have been renamed to "Gerrard's Rangers".

Who was the last team this happened to? I remember "Sherwood's Aston Villa".

Isn't Aberdeen far higher populated than Burnley? If so it's an embarrassment for Aberdeen.

I know I shouldn't bite but look at the players that Aberdeen have signed, they are League 1 standard. A one-off cup tie doesn't change that. As we all know, a well-prepared lesser team can surprise their opponents in one match such as Wigan did to Manchester City in last season's FA Cup.
Add to that that Burnley were obviously not up to speed, especially with a few of their players not having a break due to the World Cup Finals and Aberdeen being used to playing in European competition in July, these were further factors that tipped the match in the Dons' favour.
As for no television coverage of the match, I think you have to blame BT for that as apparently they offered Aberdeen very little to broadcast the match.

In the end I watched the BBC live stream of the TNS vs Lincoln Red Imps match. TNS looked sluggish but they managed to take a lead into the second leg. The trouble for them is that the Gibraltarians look pretty dangerous from dead-ball situations and surely they'll have one or two of them in the return leg.

You don't understand how this works at all, do you?

Tell us about these league one standard players.

However, the fact that a FA cup shock would come up was absolutely inevitable.

Such as the one they signed from Peterborough this summer?

It's a pity that Aberdeen couldn't hold the 1-0 lead and Burnley got a tie. I can't comment on the quality of their play but now they have to score too at Burnley. Tbh I would be happy if they can give Burnley a good 2nd match in England.

Leipzig with a no-problem 4-0 win against the swedish side. Had thought that the Swedes would give the Saxons a harder fight.

So your example is one player?
Or how about them playing Cosgrove who wasn't even a regular for League 2 Carlisle Utd?
This is not some damning indictment of Scottish football by the way, more what the financial imbalance between the English and Scottish Leagues have created.
Aberdeen have the turnover of a regular League 1 club because they do not receive the amount of money from the TV broadcasters that regular Championship clubs do, let alone the ones receiving parachute payments. Therefore, on their resources they can only acquire League 1 standard players.

So it's two players?

Turnover only tells part of the story, players will be attracted by more than just money. Aberdeen gives you exposure to top level football, playing in much larger stadiums as well as European ties almost every season. Players have more chance of meaningful silverware - e.g. Scottish Cup. If players care about history, Aberdeen has a bit more than Doncaster Rovers.

I don't doubt their current team would be competitive in the Scottish Championship.
