Hey guys,

We are trying to follow every round of the FA Cup, starting with this weekend's Extra Preliminary Round. Being ultimately confused football league fans, we thought we might ask here for some advice!

Starting with Hillingdon Borough v Wembley, following the winners into the next round, and so on to the final with any luck! We thought it would be good to go from Wembley to Wembley, not thinking that they might be drawn away...

So, anyone with any experience of Hillingdon Borough? Is there a pub we should check out? Or Ruislip generally? Any help for the glory-hunting Football League supporters?

Check out the Woodmans across the road or pop over to the Lido (5 minute walk) to go into the Waters Edge.

Ruislip doesn't have a vast selection of pubs, there's a Wetherspoons in Ruislip Manor and a couple of dodgy pubs on Ruislip High Street. In fact having just seen that Hillingdon's ground is close to the Lido, follow Urban's advice.

Ah thanks very much - Urban's advice it is then.

Dark Sith Lord - I will keep you all up to date, but we also have a blog if you want to check it out?

(edit: I can't post links yet it seems - we have a Twitter @ acrossparkblog )

Watched Hillingdon Borough once in an fa vase final vs Nantwich played at St Andrews, they only had a couple of hundred fans mainly Palace fans at a fonal and were massively outnumbered. Seened a nice club though.

Yeah they have already been in touch, which was a nice surprise. They seem like a good little club.

In response to the literally one request to keep you all updated, Hillingdon Borough seem a nice club, the match today was a pretty entertaining 1-1 draw which was end to end, and there was a bit of a fight at the end which should make Tuesday nights replay pretty entertaining. There will be a match report and thoughts and things on the blog www.acrosstheparkblog.wordpress.com tomorrow if anyone is interested.

If you like, I'll be in touch again Tuesday!

Could be interesting. A friend of mine did this recently. He's a Coventry/Worcester 2CW so got to see his teams play each other.

There's two of us, I'm Orient and he's Coventry, so we are rather hoping for that tie to come up!

For those still interested, Wembley have beaten Hillingdon Borough 2-1, and will progress to the Preliminary round against North Greenford United.

Yeah it looks like it. The match report is coming, we promise. There is obscure German football on the blog if that makes up for it?

This weekend's tie once again sees us at Wembley's Vale Park.

The replay was on a Tuesday night, which after negotiating leaving work and rushing in from Colchester left little time for pleasantries. But this shall be rectified on Saturday, so I turn to you good people once more for recommendations and suggestions of where to go what to see (drink).

Unfortunately, my own experience with Wembley was a lost playoff final (damn you Steve Evans) so I only know the area through the bitter sting of tears.

New post new post post!!! Come read how we have 2 replays from 2 rounds, which is a rather worrying trend for my bank balance!!!

We're at North Greenford next Saturday. If there is anything to look out for at/around the ground a heads up would be great!

I will try to spot anything of note. To be honest, I've found the most difficult thing so far is just finding the grounds - Hillingdon is behind a crematorium, Wembley doesn't look convincingly enough like an entrance. Bit different to the Football League where grounds are a behemoth you can see from the station!!

It's been a pleasant change since we've gone up that many of the grounds are accessible by public transport! Looking on a map North Greenford should be easy enough via either Greenford (central line) or Sudbury (Piccadilly line). They aren't behemoths, but google maps knows where they are without having to search the club website for postcodes which are often a little dodgy and lead to the wrong place...

Good pub called the Black Horse about 5 minutes from the ground which has a nice little seating area outside next to a canal if the weather is nice. On the walk from/towards Greenford station you'll pass the Westway cross shopping complex which has a McDonalds, Costa and a Subway. There's not really much if you walk up to Sudbury.

Jemfy, the ground is behind the houses at the end of a residential road. It almost seems like its not there, but it is!

Not to be pedantic but aren't all sides parallel to the pitch?!?...

The greenford ground is a difficult one to play with, a steep slope on the pitch that the home side seem to use as their primary tactic to hit from long range. An interesting form of "home advantage". They don't really offer much attacking threat though, so I'd predict that you won't be in danger of heading back there if there is another replay in the next round...

That would be true, maybe I'll go have a little edit...

Milldenhall looked the better side really, so at home I expect them to win. But then it's back to bloody Ealing for Hanwell Town in the next round! The whole point of this was to see obscure parts of the country, but they've all be within 5 miles of each other!!

Regionalisation is a bitch! We've just got shifted region, I was quite happy getting draws around London...

Best area of London, if I do say so myself :ds:
