I'm sorry but Bury v Rochdale is far more appealing than Welling v Carlisle.

Salford -Pools is no surprise. In a way the Rochdale match isn't too, and I think yesterday The Boss said it had a chance of being chosen for live coverage.
I also think the Grimsby match is more interesting than the Alty match, as the conference side are playing at home to a L1 side, and also because I think Grimsby have a better chance of producing a cup shock than Alty or Welling have.

It wouldn't seem like much of a shock though, similar sized clubs/support both full time etc. Not much for the neutrals to latch onto really. At least with Alty at Colchester, or Welling v Carlisle you have a traditional part time non league club up against full time league opposition, and in Alty's case you also have the fact that they've got a history of giant killings.

Rare that a side from a lower division away from home will get picked, they'll fear it might just be too one sided and uninteresting, worth little chance of a shock. They've had to do it with the Bradford/Aldershot replay as they pretty much had no choice.

Personally find the Rochdale v Bury game far more appealing than something like Colchester v Alty myself, it's hardly like Alty would inspire much confidence away from home anyway, never mind against a side from two divisions higher.

My thoughts are pretty much summed up by Chris above.

Welling vs Carlisle should be a TV game, though it's a bit harsh on the away fans it actually has some FA Cup appeal. Two teams in the same division at this stage is a shit game for neutrals, even if it is a derby.

Grimsby vs Shrewsbury only ticks the boxes on technicalities. It sounds like a boring mid-season L2 fixture.

A shame so many of the non-league sides remaining went to replays as that pretty much rules you out of a TV game. Why are the replays the following week and not the immediate Tuesday/Wednesday (or even Thursday for the Monday night game I guess).

Well, it means we'll be in the 3rd Round draw. Could add a bit of extra spice to the game if we draw one of the big boys.

Feel a bit sorry for the Shrewsbury fans though. Surely it would have made more sense to have our game on the Sunday and the local derby Rochdale v Bury on the Monday evening.

When their First Round Tie drew 3.5 million viewers did anyone really expect the BBC not to pick Salford if they had a home draw again?

Glad Salford City are on the BBC live game. They can spend the money on doing up the ground for when Telford & Alfreton go there next season.

So when the draw first came out of the hat I thought it was dreadful. Fast forward to now and Colchester seem to have been getting worse and worse. Last two results for them are a 2-3 home defeat to bottom placed Crewe and a 5-1 hammering at Burton. Okay we lost at FGR last weekend, but we had a couple of good results before then and have generally being playing quite well.

I'm going on Sunday and am cautiously optimistic. I certainly think we're worth a punt at 13/2. Unfortunately the time and location means the away following probably won't be great. I'd be happy with 250 tbh.

About 400 tickets sold by Alty so far plus those on the day.

That's a decent following by Alty. Notwithstanding the glamour of the cup, it's offset by the awkwardness of getting there and the fact that no one considers it a good match day experience.

Why the heck does a step 3 non league club have names & squad numbers on their shirts :eye:

Between Hartlepool just gone 1-0 up

1-1 now. That French striker Pools have got on-loan doesn't look very good...

Salford have looked good in both TV games Tbf.

Hartlepool have been dire. I have money on them (and Juve) and am convinced I've lost already. I had hoped it might be a stricter ref than in Round 1 which wouldn't have helped Salford, but no such luck.

When someone bankrolls a club they can afford it...

All the step 3/4 leagues have different rules, but I anticipate those are only for the cup. Not sure what round they started wearing them.

Only watched them in the second half of this one, so a much smaller sample size, but I'm not overly impressed with them. That said they look like they might be about conference North/South standard, I think I just expected more with the budgets they have etc. They are only playing conference premier standard opposition here.

If this small sample size is much to go on Hartlepool are going to be seen a lot more around this forum next season.

This has been Salford's worst half of the 4. Bingham has at least improved Hartlepool a little.

5 hours each way on a coach tomorrow, there's masochism for you. I hope it's worth it....

Have a good trip! I hear you're bringing around 400 which is a good effort, will make up half the crowd today haha.

After initially saying we could sit where we wanted, we're now being told to stick to our allocated seating. Big following, by the sound of it.

Great goal by Jake and despite an error for their goal we look the better side at present. 1-1 and second half we have a good chance to get into the 3rd round draw tomorrow.

What a way to lose! So gutting. Nicky Clee had a great chance near the end as well...
