Third season syndrome possibly with old Jose? His teams tend to break down on the third season, especially when he couldn't hack it at Real Madrid.
It's about the 3rd season he runs out of excuses. Fair enough he won the Premier League last season, but that was down to all the other clubs under performing. He's being found out this season. Cheque book manager & fraud.

It really wasn't. They finished the season with 87 points, which is pretty much on par for a title winning side and more than City achieved the year before when they beat Suarez and those other guys for the title. The other clubs did indeed underperform, but it's quite rare for any of them to achieve 88 points or more.

Mourinho is a shithouse and I wish him nothing but the worst, but your statement is way off.

If Man City, Arsenal and United performed to their potential then I feel that Chelsea would have been scrapping for a top 4 slot, but still in with a shout at the title.

Chelsea were the only team to play well up until the league was won. Fancy results, scrappy results and winning by any means.

No team achieving 87 points has ever scrapped the top 4. So I have no idea what you're getting at, this is just plain odd. And I didn't sleep a minute last night so I'm gonna get down to that now.

I should maybe re-word that to scrapping inside the top 4.

Yeah, not buying it. I think you're just being incredibly biased and knee jerk. Biased because any reasonable person dislikes Chelsea, and knee jerk because you said they were one of the two best teams in the country literally two weeks ago:

The 2 best teams in England, Arsenal & Chelsea

Edit: Then you got this one, a month and a half ago:

  1. Chelsea
  2. Arsenal
  3. Man United
  4. Man City
  5. Liverpool
  6. Spurs
I just think with Chelsea making a few decent signings, as long as they start sharply with no hangover from last season they could go the distance again, though this coming season will have Arsenal snapping at their heels most of the way with 1st and 2nd swapping around a few times before Chelsea pull away (though not as much as last season)

I don't see the part where I've said they aren't one of the top 2 teams in England?

Jesus christ. You had them topping the league in your prediction thread and now, two games in, you're trying to call Mourinho out as a fraud.

Give it up.

He is a fraud, but that team is flippin' strong. You're calling me out for claiming they aren't one of the top two teams in the country and I can't find any evidence I've said that?

I think he struggles to re-invent teams, and whilst it's obviously too early to say he's failed this season, will be interesting to see how they end up faring come May.

I also do wonder if this siege mentality he instills does backfire at some stage. It happened at Chelsea in his first stint, then at Real. Just seemed to fall out with everyone for no particular reason.

Does Advocaat walking count? They probably won't sack him but I'd expect if things carry on in a bad way he'll want to step down.

Yep it's the general feeling up here that he'll walk, in every interview this season he looks defeated.

It's a shame, he could and should have retired on a massive high at the end of last season.

Dick will go first. McClaren will get given the time he needs to sort it until at least January.

Or Vice Versa :bg:

The 'wally-with-the-brolly' sanctioned the imported players, whilst winding out his "pay-off" with his employer in the Championship. "Wally" was asked to come in before the last season-end...but he stuck to his contract,
got the pay-off, got the signing-on fee~~~basically got the dosh !

No player at the toon was bought ~ since April ~ without "Wally's" approval.. [Cites available]
There is "Tapping-up" ~~~ and ~~"Tapping -up" :D
"Wally" went into the toon apparently knowing the newcomers, chose them or cleared them whilst a manager at another employment.

I suspect that 'money talks'

For a Self-obsessed creature like McClaren and an owner like Ashley, I wish the worst on the toon.

BUT........ I do have a fondness for them. Their fans remind me of Cov fans ~ when they were Div 1 ~ like they cheer and chant when one of their own players get the ball...but they did have a decent spell under Kev.

An Aside...

Wally is the toon's biggest problem imo....God Knows what his 'compensation / redundacy' costs may be ~~~
An earlier manager~~~ Pardew, had an 8 year contract.... for goodness sake....

Owners in the North....:db:

I think Steve Mclaren will go first , but from the top managers the least likeliest to leave this season are LVG and Mourinho No way that they will leave . One is best manager in England and other second best . Pelegrinni is on the edge though for his failures in CL and if domestic does not go well then goodbye and welcome Jurgen Klopp ... so far great start .

LOl Wenger will die at Emirates and be buried right there right next to Thiery Henry statue . He is not even planing to retire anytime soon .

Brendan Rodgers should be first one on the list . I thought his management should have been over right after Suarez departure .

Pochetino might be right after Brendan if he continues to throw crappy performances in EL . They should be winning that league with squad they got .

Either money or just wanting to finish the season with Derby and try a go up and get something good on his CV... a no-brainer for me really, and it would be a no brainer for anyone really.

So you thought the time to get rid was just after he'd finished 2nd in the league?

Not exactly , but finishing with 50 goals conceded just in the league was a sign that this manager relying on his three attacking players way too much . I will take it back and say last season he should have been gone after fielding second team players against Madrid ... that was a disgrace to liverpool and english football .
