After a farcical few months the embeargo has been lifted and we've got ourselves a brand new signing!! It really has polar-ised opinions has this embeargo but thankfully is has hibernated for a bit. The fans have wanted him back for some time so this should really boost the feeling round the place. Other teams might take notice of us as well now.

Marky...is Alan Nixon right, that you're stuck under this embargo for two more transfer windows?

No idea to be honest. Not really sure how we get out of it. Sell our best players, turn our finances round and in 12 months time we can spend, but possibly be in League One?

I imagine we have to show in our next set of accounts how we have managed to turn things round, which won't be until next may I think = lots more embargo

I see the FFP only really effects the clubs lower down the ladder as expected, imagine that happening to Manchester City? Nah me neither.

Btw off topic but how much would you realistically want for Antonio, it still pains me that we gave him away for pennies.

In this current market id say about £8m. Played every match last year, still young and pretty much unplayable. He was awesome. And it wasn't expected which made it so much more pleasing. I've never seen a player with the same pace and strength as him, combined with a hammer of a right boot. He does some awful things but when he's got the ball and running at goal there is a good chance something special could happen, and that's the reason we pay our money

Fuck knows why McClaren dropped an in-form pacey Cyrus Christie, to put a slow Ryan Shotton up against him.

Christie was comfortably our best player for the first third of the season, yet possibly our worst for the final third of the season.

My gripe was just how poorly he was coached by McClaren and co. He lost all confidence and looked to receive no sort of guidance. He made him a full international, which is no surprise considering his talent, but failed to help him in a tough situation.

There's a few players I think will flourish under Clement, but none more so than him. As a footballer, he's got the lot, but he needs to be coached a lot better. The performances against Rotherham and Fulham at the start of the season were among the best I've ever seen from a right back at Derby. Truly brilliant!

The mighty Rams!!!
Christie lost his form as soon as mclaren chopped and changed him with Shotton. It's obvious he can't handle competition.

Think Antonio is a good player but worth more than Ince? Different skills but both score goals. Should be on par IMO

If Ince didn't have the buy out clause I'm sure Hull would have slapped something ridiculous on his head.

Different players, equally effective IMO. Ince is much more cultured though, Antonio can look quite cumbersome.

The difference between Antonio and Ince is huge. I don't think Antonio will ever make it as a Premier League player purely because he is so direct, but with his pace and power he can afford to do that very effectively in the Championship. I don't think he quite has the intelligence to step it up, and for me that's the biggest difference between a Championship winger and a Premier League winger.

The key for me was Antonio running at Shotton, he had him on his arse. Antonio running at Forsyth and he was completely snuffed out the game and subbed. Forsyth, first and foremost, is an unbelievable man-on-man defender and it was an easy game for him.

Antonio's stats from that game: Dribbles attempted 4, successful 0; Duels attempted 24, won 7; dispossessed 5 times, lost possession 26 times.

It will be interesting to see how Mings gets on, because I'm of the opinion that if you can't keep the ball well then the Premier League can become a torrid place.

Ince to his credit is extremely good at keeping the ball and looking to make the right pass - even if he does tend to like a shot from distance.

On the FFP, anyway, Sam Rush a few interesting things to say this morning about it.

FFP - apparently are not categorised as 'rules' but rather 'guidelines' and have changed significantly.

QPR - broke the rules so spectacularly that the Football League have found it difficult to punish them. They just don't have the tools to go at them, apparently.

Forest - you have to show signs of improvement to rid your embargo, Forest haven't done that, hence the embargo.

Derby - comfortably within FFP restrictions and won't look to bend the rules in case the Football League look to offer sterner punishments for rule breakers, i.e. points deduction. There are many ways around them, many things you can do in order to prevent your balance sheet going sour - for example, we've just taken out an insurance policy on wages to injured players. We would have cleaned up massively had we done this last season.

I'm sure there is a few more points, but that's basically the gist. I still think it's unfair QPR can get away due to their substantial losses whilst Forest get punished.
