Four Four Two mag has polled its readers for their Top 50 FL players. The rule was to vote for three players not at your own club. The numbers are, presumably, just added up, so Championship, L1 and L2 players are just lumped in all together.

Wolves did very badly, with just two players, and I'm not really surprised. What does surprise me is that Sako and Afobe are the two players from Wolves who got in the Top 50, while Danny Batth, Kevin McDonald, Stearman and especially Carl Ikeme didn't and I would rate both those two highly. However, I did find that I largely agreed with the top rankings. Those I expected to be in the top ten or so are all there.

The ranking seem heavily biased towards strikers, unsurprisingly, but wonder what others views are on the ranking....

(I have tried to cut and paste the ranking but can't do it, either directly or through clipping for OneNote. Maybe someone else is more tech-savvy?)

Joe Garner was below the likes of Jon Forte, Paddy Madden and Reuben Reid so i'm not really gonna take it seriously

Yes, I noticed that. And Leon Clarke didn't even make the Top 10. That was really odd.

That's because it takes into account a teams position and what league they are in. Paddy Madden has scored 15 goals from the wing in an absolutely shite team. Garner has scored goals in quite a strong team.

However, I am not doubting Garner is better than Madden because Madden isn't even in Garner's league. It's just the way they figure it out.

Yeah, we may not be the greatest side in the world but I'm not having people who play for bloody Bury and Shrewsbury as better players than our entire squad (with the exception of Gudmundsson)

Marc Richards definitely deserves a place amongst the top 50, well top 20 actually, FL players.

It's a bit of a silly list really. In reality, all but about 5 of this list would be Championship players. Would make a lot more sense within individual leagues.

These lists always make me laugh. They seem to want to shoehorn as many lower league players in as they can in some bizarre attempt at being fair to the entire Football League when in actual fact a Top 50 FL players list should probably comprise completely of Championship players and maybe a few from L1.

You're just bitter that Alli beat Luongo.

Well Alli did when I last checked before he got injured :lac:

They are both great players though. Hope yours has a quiet game Saturday if he is playing.
Oh yeah, can't deny that. Imagine a midfield with those two in it?!

Why does the highest goalscorer in the football league come 50th, one of the best creative midfielders ever to grace the football league come 47th, and an overweight striker for Northampton come 13th??? :ffs::ffs::ffs:

Forte? Andy Williams? Da fuck!

JET 22nd even though he's on the bench most weeks, wish he wasn't mine. Freeman definitely deserving his place at 27th.

P.s - freeman has more assists that both alli and luongo

Ross McCormack has been a nationwide flop this season and he's still 30 places higher than the 2nd highest scorer in England :brill:
