I was looking through Google for non league badges to resurrect the 'non league badges shamelessly stolen from proper teams' thread (which I still feel needs doing) then I came across this North East Counties Division One side:

Even your signature goes with that one!...

We have played against this team in the league this season (one I know has been laughed about on the old forum).

Well I had a quick look and couldn't find the badge for Thurnby Nirvana, but that's pretty up there.

Billingham Synthonia is an awesome name. Also Badshot Lea. I was sad enough to make a list of names that amused me once...don't think I have it still

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Always used to worry about being drawn against Romulus. At least until someone founds Star Fleet.

Named after the synthetic ammonia plant. I saw Macc lose at home to them in the FA Trophy in 1994

decent centre back pairing and goalie, or do they score loads?

I've always liked Romulus. I've never been able to find anything on the internet as to why they are called that, I take it as their badge is that of a roman legionary that the founders of the club just had a thing for ancient Rome. I hope they've managed to play Roma in a pre-season game.

Billingham Synthonia is an awesome name.

I thought they were a prog rock band but apparently "Synthonia" is a portmanteau of the local industry, ie. synthetic + ammonia.

A few of my faves:
Pilkington XXX (sounds like a public schoolboy porno)
South Park
Handsworth Parramore
Mold Alexandra (Welsh)
Kirkintilloch Rob Roy
Shotts Bon Accord
Keith
Inverurie Loco Works (Scotch)

And the "if we mumble our club's name down the phone we might get slightly more interest from players/sponsors" outfits:
Askern Villa
Bly Spartans

Bly Spartans are no more, now called Rochester United. I live not far from the ground been to only one game though. Before Bly, they used to be called Templars. They are another team I have no idea why they were called Bly Spartans, there is nowhere round here called Bly. They also must have liked ancient civilizations for the Spartans part as they still have a Spartan as club badge.

Is that the same side that lost 36-0 to Aberdeen once?

There are Woodstock Sports in the Southern Counties East Football League. Jimi Hendrix's long lost grandson is their starting goalie.

Yes! If I remember my children's trivia books correctly their midfielder was in nets, and they forgot their kit so played the game in suits.

Balls. :( I admire how they tried to cash in on Blyth Spartans' relative fame.

Blimey, one of my friends ran the line at Synthonia on Saturday, I also have quite a few mates who play for Badshot Lea!

Of course few clubs will ever be able to match the majesty of Deportivo Wanka and the Young Boys at the Wankdorf.

The team that are currently top of the Brighton, Hove and Worthing Premier Division (Step 8) are Goring Cricket Club.
Not sure how that works.

West Allotment Celtic are one.

In fact the whole Northern League is full of great names:

Celtic Nation
Jarrow Roofing Boldon Community Association F.C.
Norton & Stockton Ancients F.C.
Esh Winning F.C.
Sunderland Ryhope Community Association F.C.

How could I forget Esh Winning? One of our supporters is from there so follows both teams.

Still hard to beat the Berne Young Boys. An old mate of mine swears he was asked by a guy at Geneva airport who saw his Hull City scarf "Do you like Young Boys, like me?"

Remember when they were knocking down the old Wankdorf and rebuilding it?

Headline read, 'Young Boys plan new Wankdorf erection'. Sadly now called Stade de Suisse.

One of our main club sponsors back in the early 90s was Rowan Erection. We often wondered whether Mr Erection was there at the matches he sponsored.
