Still worth an annual rewatch, probably the finest documentary I've ever seen. No one can touch Adam Curtis.

Storyville: My Nazi Legacy

3 guys with connections to WW2 talk to each other about their connections. One is Jewish who had many relatives killed. The other two were German whose fathers were SS. One would simply not acknowledge his father would have had a role in the extermination camps. Questioning evidence and knowing his father wouldn't be involved, despite the other SS son knowing their fathers knew each other.

Struck me as to how I'd react put in the same situation; trying to answer whether you thought your father was hideous, cold Nazi, even if he loved you as normal. Compelling.

I saw it also last night and it was very fascinating seeing the behaviour of both men towards their fathers horrific crimes, and with the lawyer guy in the middle being Jewish and finding out about what happened to his own family in Poland back then - where 79 out of 80 relatives were exterminated under the governance of the fathers of the men he was inteviewing - it was very compelling stuff indeed.

Even the stuff when they went to the Ukraine was interesting and depressing when you were hearing all that fascist and nationalistic drivel spouted by the locals about the war and the way things are over there now, its just like history repeating itself.

Yeah, the reactions were really interesting. The parts when they went to the old mass graves shocked me- the difference in beliefs between the two men was unbelievable.

The attitude that the sympathiser had where 'what he did back then doesn't matter now' made my blood boil, wasn't sure whether he was taking the piss.
