No two ways about it we have to win anything less and we have no chance of 3rd. Yes mathematically it is possible but we said before the Yeovil game we needed to win all 3.
In my mind nothing’s changed we need to beat Grimsby and Luton.

We have picked up form and we are looking like the side that we’re top of the table at the beginning of the season, can’t be a bad thing going into probably play offs like this.

I will state a fact from another thread from the statto page. If Notts score first they have never lost this season and won 19 of 25 games. There’s a bet somewhere in that!

No injuries or suspensions as far as I am aware so we should be looking at a relatively unchanged size. Noble needs to work out whether he is going to be a good player or not as he is so inconsistent, think he should be on the bench first.
Hopefully Forte will be firing again

2-1 Notts (hopefully)

With us being at home and really needing to get over the line, I can see us scrapping a win with a mass of home support behind the lads.

As I said in another thread, Jolley has installed belief and a system the players have understood and we are a lot better. We try and play to a plan (not always succeeding), but giving us a chance. The players haven't turned into world beaters but they fight for each other and we are playing some decent stuff with a bit of much needed luck coming our way at last.

The Stats mentioned by our Pie from Long Eaton need equaling out, we haven't score between the 15th to 30th minute all season, home or away. I expect that Stat to go on Saturday too. We need to win for safety and fully expect us to do so.

No more "Woe Is Me" (unless we balls it up of course).

I'd guess we might be unchanged apart from Tootle coming in for Hunt. Hopefully Grant will be fit enough for a place on the bench to come on if required. And I'm excited about seeing O'Connor and Hewitt in the centre of the park at some point, although Noble might just keep his place.

We're playing with confidence again, and in front of an away following of what should be getting on for 2,000, I'm going for a 0-1 win. Just need the three points somehow, to take it to the final day.

Losing games like this has been one of the big reasons why we’re only an outside bet for automatic promotion. We were dreadful and lost at both Chesterfield and Barnet relatively recently.

We’re playing with confidence though and having a motivated Jon Forte playing turns us into a different team.

Would also be tempted to drop Noble for this, particularly if O’Connor is fit enough for a start.

Other than that there’s no reason why Nolan shouldn’t stick with the team that thrashed Yeovil. Even if Grant is fit again I can only see him making the bench, he does have a real tendency to make a difference when he comes on in the second half.

I'm liking this thread already, both sets of supporters not being gentlemanly, not sitting on the fence but going for the win for their club.
Refreshing and what these type of forums used to be.
"Well played" oh that's too nice......you smell of fish!

I'm gonna have t sit on the fence here and say I'm not sure whether we're gonna win 2-0 or 2-1. :bg1:

We absolutely cannot lose this one if we are to give ourselves a chance on the final day, presuming Barnet beat Morecambe. A point will see us just needing to match Morecambe's result while a loss means we have to better it. We do have the easier final game but I really don't want to chance it. Of course they could just draw on Saturday which I think is most likely and this match will be irrelevant.

Having said that I think we've improved enough to snatch a win and seal our own fate. We've got enough confidence and belief in us now that I see no reason we shouldn't go out to win both games and finish a few places higher than we would've dreamt of this time a month ago. It won't be a game of immense quality but it should be a rammed Blundell Park with a good atmosphere. We are undefeated at home under Jolley and my prediction is it will stay that way.

I have said for the last few weeks we will take it to the last day and I am still sure we will. GY will stay up, there's easily two worse sides than them in the division and I can't see FG putting up much resistance on the last day if they are safe.

It will be a tough place to go and win but the form we are in is like when we want on the ten game run earlier this season. We look on it again, and have the belief back. I'd be happy if we dropped Noble. He's been generally terrible since he re-signed

Nobles been terrible all season, must be feeling guilty. Perhaps he should go furthur up to the North East, must still be homesick

Tricky situation this. If we go for the win and blow it, it would be a point lost, as I think we’re capable of holding out for a draw. It all hinges on the Morecambe-Barnet game. A Barnet win is a disaster unless we win. Then we pretty much have to rely on Morecambe losing again to Cov and us managing to get a single point from Notts or FGR. My head hurts. I’m supporting Morecambe more than us this weekend, as I won’t be off my phone all game!

Noble hasn’t been terrible he had a spell during and after the win at FGR where he was showing signs of being the midfielder we needed.

It was short lived though and with O’Connor back from his 6 month injury he could well lose his place for a lengthy period.

Noble is about a 6.5/10 player but he needs to be more 7.5

I’ve had limited viewing of Noble due to worldwide travel but so far ive been massively disappointed. Yes he’s behaving himself far more than his first spell at the club but he now appears to be scared to hit one Fromm distance (which he used to love to do) and isn’t taking a touch when it’s possible. Lots of first time aimless balls forward, and he’s bypassed when on defensive duties far more than I thought he would be. He was never going to be anywhere near as good as Yates without the ball but I expected him to be far better on it.

He hasn’t

He was good against Manny T and FGR but has barely contributed in the other games. I want Nobsa to be a success but I'd be thinking about a change there if I was Nolan

How come Dembele hasn't been starting? He was the next big thing a few months ago?

Having a dinosaur for a manager has meant he hasn't progressed at all and he presumably saw his big money move in the summer turn out to be non existent so that, coupled with a back injury, has seen his form dip. He still has good flashes now and then but he's not exactly what we need for a dog fight, he hasn't achieved the numbers up top to warrant playing him sadly. I could see Jolley building a good side around him next season if he is still here.

As above, lost form then got injured. Great to watch when in full flow, but loses the ball or makes the wrong decisions more often than not. That's OK when you are winning games and can afford to have him showing his 'flair', but he also fouls rather then tackles and his tracking back can lead to direct freekicks etc, etc.
I loved watching him play, but he's not what we need right now.

Thanks for the replies re Dembele.

We sold out our initial allocation of nearly 1200 early yesterday and were sent 700 more, so should be a decent atmosphere.

Fascinating game really, both sides desperate for three points for different reasons. I hope we really go for it and don't settle for a point with some sort of eye on finishing 4th or 5th and getting a home play-off leg second. Want a big occasion against Luton next Saturday when there should be 15k+ in the Lane if we have a realistic chance of promotion.

This is the most nervous I’ve been for a game since we played Swindon last week.

We're tweeting that it is getting close to a sell out, so expect announcement of attendance 6500 later then in our 9000 capacity stadium.

Should be 3-1 to us. Missed a couple of glorious chances but County should have had a penalty. They look poor.

“Sounds” like we have shown nothing first half from a mate a the game. Grimsby should be coasting now but perhaps that why you’re down there. Need to step up now Notts, take off Virtue and put on Grant
